I have 1/2 a lb of ground turkey and am thinking of making turkey burgers for dinner tomorrow. Any thoughts on spices to add? I have a variety of spices on hand, but they are all dried. Also on hand are some sun-dried tomatoes and provolone cheese.

Doh! Must learn to proof-read my topic heading. Should say turkey BURGERS. Not burgets.
This is not your usual turkey burget, er, burger recipe but I'm throwing it in because I like it. Obviously, you'll need to cut the recipe down for only half a pound of meat.
TURKEY CORNMEAL BURGETS WITH SALSA
1 1/4 lb. ground turkey
2 tablespoons cornmeal
2 teaspoons cumin
2 teaspoons chile powder or more
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 egg white
1 seeded jalapeņo, finely chopped
1 cup cooked corn, drained
1/2 to 3/4 cup salsa
Combine all ingredients except oil, corn and salsa. Shape into 5 1/2 inch thick patties. Heat oil over medium high heat until sizzling (about 1 minute) Cook turkey patties 3 to 5 minutes on each side until browned and no longer pink in center. Heat corn and salsa in small saucepan and serve with turkey burgers.

Know what? After making this a zillion times, I just noticed there's no oil quantity here. Either it's a neglible amount or else I don't bother, cooking it in a non-stick pan. The salsa I use is REALLY hot and with big tomato chunks which go great with the corn. Between blow-your-head-off sauce and the jalapeņos, this recipe can pack quite a whallop. I like that way because ground turkey kind of bores me otherwise. (And if you're not insane like I am, don't use as much chile and go with a milder salsa.)
Give it a try sometime. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Gail, those turkey cornmeal burgets, uh, burgers sound great, and so does the corn salsa! But only one egg white for all that turkey? Or is the egg white just there to help the cornmeal bind the burgers together?

Hi.
This turkey recipe recipe is the one I make all the time except I double it.
1/2 pound turkey (ground)
1/4 c Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
1 1/2 tab finely chopped onion
1 tab finely chopped parsley
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp salt (I use 1/2)
1/8 tsp dried oregano
1/8 tsp pepper
dash of Worcestershire sauce ( I don't use this)
1 garlic clove minced
1 egg white lightly beaten
2 tab flour
Veg cooking spray
hamburger buns, tomato slices & red onion slices
Combine first 10 ing in a bowl, stir well. Add egg white & stir well. Divide into 2 equal portions shaping into 1/2 inch thick patties. Dredge in flour. Coat skillet with cooking spray, place over med heat until hot, add patties and cook 5 minutes per side. Serve on buns with tomato and onion
Note: Because of my allergies (wheat) I use quick oats instead of breadcrumbs & I don't dredge in flour. I also omit Worscestershire sauce (has tomato-allergic). I have grilled this too. I do make them ahead and place in a plate covered with SAran Wrap so they hold their shape better when ready to cook.

You can also use ground turkey in white turkey chili

Only one egg white, yep. It probably is there as a binder, as you suggested... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
Psst, Liz! Did you check CL's on line recipes for turkey burgers? They had a couple of interesting recipes there for Asian or Moroccan burgers. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Gail, you know, I didn't even think to look there first.
I ended up making bbq turkey burgers (almost typed burgets again) and cooking them on my "lean mean grilling machine" (the George Foreman thing). There were okay, except I added too much bbq sauce so there were too wet. Needed some bread crumbs or something to hold them together. I don't do well with improvising recipes.
