Hi all!

I'm back in the groove again:) Saturday I was able to do my first cardio workout in since my toe incident! I did my new DVD - only about 20 mins of cardio but it was a start!

Sunday I did Burn and Shape (FIRM). School is over until next Tuesday :D so I plan on doing the whole 60 mins of the new workout.

The plan for the holidays - workout Wed before we leave and then WALK everyday while we are at family. We'll be back on Sunday and I'll be able to pick things back up again.

Valerie - I know you said you are hanging around and hosting for a couple of friends....

Stacy - what are your plans?

Anyone else around? We miss you guys... Joanne???Michelle???

Charisse you're right, where is Joanne these days?

Good to hear your toe is better. Nothing like a foot injury to deflate fitness plans. can't do much without shoes...

I think I'm stil doing dinner but our main guest (who's doing the driving) checked in last night to say he might be getting sick. Had to go home from work early. Hope I find out for sure today so I don't do all kinds of cooking for no reason. although if he's really getting sick I'd rather not get exposed to it... we'll see what happens.

I've been good... did muscle max and treadmill on saturday. sunday was the day off. monday I did 30 on treadmill and GS biceps. I'm trying to push up the weight on a couple of the moves, not all were successful. I tried adding 5 lbs to the curl bar and couldn't get thru it. guess I'm not ready yet. thesmallest plates I have are 2.5 lbs so the minimum I can add is 5lbs. need to work out something else. we hope to hike or xc ski on wednesday.

Hi, everyone! Happy Thanksgiving week! We're just having a small family gathering (with lots of starches!). DH's parents, sister and her husband. My Dad will eventually join us - he's a die-hard Cowboy fan with season tickets so he'll stop by after the game is over. It will be fun with LOTS of food. I'm picking up the rest of my groceries this afternoon. Looking forward to cooking all day tomorrow!

Charisse - Your workout plan sounds solid. I'm planning to workout Wed - Sat & possibly Sunday. Days off make it so much easier - no need to get up quite so early! No school until Tuesday - that sounds wonderful! Enjoy the time off. So glad your toe is doing better!

Valerie - I hope your friend is feeling better but I totally agree that if he's not, it's better that he keep his germs to himself! It's so hard to stay well this time of year!

Y'all are doing great with your workouts!! Saturday I walked with DH & took Sunday/Monday off. This morning I did Cardio & Weights. More workouts planned for later this week.

I got DS two kids exercise DVDs. Hopefully, we'll try them out sometime this weekend. I'd like to see him get off his duff a little bit more! He did the warm up from 4DS Kickbox with me a couple of weeks ago. He said he liked it but it was too hard to follow. Maybe the kids DVDs will move a little slower so he'll feel more comfortable. It was fun to do it together!

What a cool idea! How old is he? My boys make fun of me and my instructors:cool: imagine falsetto "c'mon now, lift it higher... you can do it..." Yup - that's why I keep the door SHUT!!!;)

Today I had a lot of energy:D I did BSS3 with Stephanie - good weight workout with some cardio thrown in. Felt good to get in a sweaty workout before the food craziness begins!!

I made black bottom cupcakes, Jewel's PB CC oatmeal cookies, molasses spice crinkles, rice crispie bars and a huge winner - CL's cranberry oatmeal bars from the Nov 08 issue - YUMMMMMMMMM!~!!!!! All to be take to my SIL's for this weekend. Before that we'll be eating at my moms!;)

We're headed out in about an hour - I wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!!! I plan on walking, walking just keep walking.... until Sunday.

Gobble Gobble!!:)

Great work, Charisse - both on the workout and the goodies!!! Holy cow - you were busy! I thought those cranberry oatmeal bars sounded good.

I did Cardio Kicks this morning. As much hi-lo as kickox but it was fun. My knees only protested a little!

I also watched part of one of the exercise DVDs I got for DS. It was really upbeat and fun. I think he'll enjoy it. He's 9. And yes, he makes fun of me, too, but I think after warming up with me, he has a new respect for me and Cathe! DH is really proud and supportive of what I do (he an exerciser, too) so it rubs off on DS. They always say that I could beat them both up!

I've got cranberries and dressing made and sweet potatoes roasting. Certainly not done but making progess!

Have a wonderful holiday everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving Day!!! I did Power Hour this morning. Almost chickened out since I was so sore the last time I did it but decided that the only way not to get sore is to do it more.....so I did it! Then did 20 minutes of one of DS's kid videos. It was cute. I don't think he loved it but it got him moving for a little bit. Off to make pumpkin pie.....have a great day, everyone.

Already 10:30 on turkey day.. I do turkey once a year so it's sort of cchallenge since I don't usually do this kind of cooking. but we're only having 3 guests so the quantities are modest.

wow, charisse, that was a baking marathon. and a great workout in the gym too! eat up the cranberry oatmeal bars, I didn't like them as much after they froze, and for DH and myself it's key to things I bake. just can't demolish the quantity of a whole recipe fast enough.... maybe I need to borrow someone else's teenagers. I made some bars from Sunset mag that I liked better. they're more of a bar and less cookie like, not as sweet. DH didn't like them but I liked them even more after freezing. He likes things sweeter than I do. so that means THEY'RE ALL MINE!! If I find the recipe I'll post it on the food section. It was similar, one recipe and a couple variations.

Stacy, that's what I'm trying to do... once a week, whether I need it or not, a workout using squats and lunges. I hate, hate, hate it when I skip for a while and then get so SORE. we did a medium hike yesterday but even uphill, lots of snow, it just doesn't work legs the same way.

Anyway ,happy turkey day to everyone and their families!

Valerie - I'm sure your turkey turned out great! I wanted to try brine one this year but DH's parents brought a smoked one. Truthfully, I was relieved that I didn't have to stress about a turkey....and the smoked one was fabulous. They can do that every year as far as I'm concerned. I can try brining for us anytime! I hope your ailing guest was able to make it.

I'm sore from the leg workout but not too bad. Hamstrings this time instead of quads but I can handle that better. Certainly nothing like last week! Valerie - we'll have to keep each other going on the leg workouts.

Today I did the timesaver cardio premix from Body Max 2. Short but tough. Glad it's done as I was tempted to skip it.

We're enjoying a pajama day today. Just games, reading & leftovers.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

I posted the Peanut Butter Cranberry go-bars from sunset mag on the food section. I thought these were excellent, more what I was looking for when I made the CL oatmeal cranberry bars. Still can't have too many so they are frozen but seem to be even better after freezing. we take bars for snacks for hike/ski but the commercial ones can start to all taste the same after a while.

Our guests made it fine and dinner went well. It's still a lot of work to put all that stuff together at once but a couple times a year I can manage. I did get in a bike, treadmill, and elliptical yesterday for a total of a bit over an hour, so nothing fantastic but Ok for a busy day.

Wow, the world sure has changed when kids need to do home exercise routines.... but I think it's great and a wonderful habit to have. it's hard to imagine it's necessary. I was going, going, going when I was a kid and it seemed like such a rude interruption to even need to stop playing and come in for meals. I know the world is different now.

I did 30 on the treadmill and then Power Hour.. thanks for the inspiration Stacy. I need to do a squat/lunge workout twice a week, somehow. I did Muscle Max about a week ago and got a little sore, and today I'm a little sore after PH but not bad. I lowered the weight. Doing all the reps and not being in severe pain is better than getting so sore I dread even seeing the DVD cover! maybe that's why I've had trouble making it a regular part of my workouts.... I dread getting sore, so put it off, thereby setting up the scenario where I will be guaranteed to be really sore. so, more often but no stressing about pushing the weight. I did the squats with about 25 lbs and the lunges, always hard for me, with about 15 lbs.

and.. I did well without over indulging.. :) had some of everything. I love pumpkin pie but kept it small.

Way to go, Valerie -- both with the work and the eating :). I've had half a piece of pumpkin pie. It's good but not a trigger food for me...not so hard to resist. I think my favorite thing this year was the brussels sprouts with pancetta. Yum! And the cranberry conserve with goat cheese - I'm having a hard time staying away from that! Glad you company made it. And it is a lot of work - and the dishes are the worst. I swear we dirted every pot I own.

DS liked his other exercise DVD. He thought it was easier to follow. I think over time he'll like them both but I'm going to have to "persuade" him to do them. I wish things were like they were years ago.....where all the neighorhood kids ran around all day long. It's not like that anymore or at least not in our neighborhood. Everything is structured and if you're not into team sports, you don't get a lot of activity. We're trying to do other things like family walks and skateboarding. He plays tennis, too. It's not like he's on the couch all the time but with TV, video games and reading he *could* sit there all day if we'd let him. We just want him to learn that exercise should be a part of his life and that it can happen in lots of different ways.

Today I did High Step Training. Lots of leg presses. Valerie, my strategy with leg work is exactly the same as yours. I'm using 25 lbs. for squats & lunges. Lighter or no weight on some lunges if I need to. I'd rather do the all the reps than peter out because I'm using more weight than I can handle. Gradually I'll work up but I'm not going to stress if it takes a long time.
