A few years back, Cooking Light ran an article on how to train for your first triathlon. Since the website has been redone, I can no longer find it! Does anyone still have this article in PDF form, or know where I can find it?
Suggestions, advice, recommended reading, etc would also be appreciated...I'm getting an early start on my New Year's resolution!
Thanks!
Emily

Get one of Joe Friel's triathalon books. I have "The Triathlete's Training Bible" but I've heard good things about "Your First Triathlon" by him as well. I also like www.beginnertriathlete.com for lots of info. I've not done a full triathlon yet but did a duathlon last year and have 3 tri's on the schedule for next year. Good luck, it's a lot of fun!

Just saw that you posted another thread saying you are in Denver. Where in Denver? What tri are you looking at for next year? I've got quite a bit of info on the local ones.

Welcome, Emily!
I am a long-time distance runner who did her first duathlon (1/2 iron distance) this past summer. Anyway, as Robyn mentions there are lots of resources for new multisport athletes. I wanted to ask too - do you have a background in one or two of the three sports already? I ask because depending on what your current strengths are, your approach and training focus may vary.
I have a book on training plans from beginner through to Ironman that is quite good (though I bought it after my race, I read it later and it seemed very sensible). I can't remember the name though and I'm out of town, but I can post it later if you're interested.
Good luck and please feel free to join us on the Virtual Running Buddies thread!! We talk about much more than running, including biking, swimming, kayaking, nutrition, etc. We have a super hard core triathlete among our ranks too (she did an IM).
Natasha :)
