Hi everyone, I am looking for a recipe that someone had posted for chicken. It was a whole roaster chicken places in a slow cooker with garlic and I remember it used orange juice for the sauce. It needs to cook for 7 hours. I had printed it out and I planned on making it today since I am home sick, but now I can't find it!!!! It was posted not too long ago, but I cannot remember the thread it was posted under.
Thanks!!

You've got me stumped! I've looked around the past boards, archives, etc. for the recipe you described and the closest I found was on this thread for a roasted chicken (no oj though): http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20000807-1-000366.html

I believe the recipe was posted under Crockpot Recipes. Beth Y had posted it recently, looks like 7/31, but for some reason, I cannot open it up to look at it. I can see the title of the post only when I do a search, but then it tells me that that the actual message is unavailable. I posted a message to tech support, hopefully they can help me.

Thanks for your help, Susan. The roasted basil chicken looks pretty good, too. I may have to make that one instead. I am beginning to think I was just seeing things! It's very strange because I remember reading through the recipe very recently, but I can't remember who posted it or what title it was under. Thanks so much for looking, though.

Is this it? hope you are feeling better
Slow-Roasted Rosemary-and-Garlic Chicken
10 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
1 (5- to 6-pound) roasting chicken
5 garlic cloves
4 (3-inch) rosemary sprigs
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1. Combine minced garlic and chopped rosemary. Remove and discard giblets and neck from chicken. Rinse chicken with cold water; pat dry. Trim excess fat. Starting at neck cavity, loosen skin from breast and drumsticks by inserting fingers, gently pushing between skin and meat. Rub garlic mixture under loosened skin over breast and drumsticks. Place 5 garlic cloves and rosemary sprigs into the body cavity. Place chicken, breast side down, in an electric slow cooker. Cover with lid; cook on high heat for 1 hour. Reduce heat setting to low; cook 7 hours. Remove chicken from slow cooker, reserving drippings. Discard skin from chicken.
2. Place a zip-top plastic bag inside a 2-cup glass measure. Pour drippings into bag; let stand 10 minutes (fat will rise
to the top). Seal bag; carefully snip off 1 bottom corner of bag. Drain drippings into a small saucepan, stopping before fat layer reaches opening; discard fat. Add orange juice and vinegar to saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes. Yield: 6 servings (serving size: 3 ounces chicken and 1/3 cup sauce).

Thanks very much, Anne. That is the one! However did you find it? I finally located it yesterday in time to start cooking- I just knew I had printed it out. It took some digging, but it was there.
The chicken was delicious! My husband really liked it too. He came home and the whole house smelled good. I made it with mashed potatoes, peas, and I roasted some tomatoes since we have lots. I keep telling my husband that I'd make a great housewife, but he's not buying it. I was home Wednesday and made bread, sundried tomatoes, and lemon squares. I can't sit still! My husband is loving all the good food, though!
I am back at work today and much better, thanks! I think the next time I roast a chicken, I'll try the basil recipe in the link that Susan posted. I think it was under the crockpot recipes.

Glad you're feeling better, Mrs. Reber! If you were home sick, you didn't see me waving from Nutley at you in Newark! Glad you found the recipe; I'm putting it on my list of things to try!

Barbara, I sure did miss you waving yesterday! I would've rather been here than sick, though. Now my husband is sick! We liked the chicken alot. You could really smell the garlic while it was cooking, but the taste wasn't overwhelming. The sauce was very good, but I added a little onion and ground pepper and thickened it up some with flour and water. I imagine it could just be roasted in the oven in an hour or so as well. I just loved the way the chicken fell off the bone and it was so moist. That's really why I wanted to cook it in the crockpot. Hope you enjoy it when you try it!
