This is not a big, important problem, but it should be addressed when you have the time...

The tabs no longer have the name of the thread on them, when you open more than one thread in firefox. I'm assuming it's like that in IE, as well. It was so handy, before the switch, to be able to see the title of the thread on the tab. Now, it just says "Message Boards - Online Community - Cooking Light" on each tab.

Thank you for your interest in improving our site. I know no change comes easily, and is rarely perfect right from the start!;)

I want to echo this -- it's also happening in IE and Google Chrome, as well (I have tried it with all 3 browsers).

It also says the same when you do a dropdown for the back button, so you never really know which screen you are trying to get to. Most annoying! And it would be SOOOOOOOO appreciated if this can be fixed!!!!

Hi guys--
I definitely understand how the lack of thread-specific page titles can be annoying. Unfortunately, this is part of our new site's search engine optimization. You'll notice all pages on the site now have more complete titles so everything is easier for people to find in searches, driving more traffic to our site. (We've gotta pay the bills somehow.) I have asked the tech folks if it's possible to change back to the old way, but I'm not sure if that will work.

Bummer!:(:( It is inconvenient, to say the least, to have to go to the top of the page to see the title, especially when you've used the "go to new post" down arrow on the forum search page....

The TITLE tag could have the thread title AND the Message Boards -- etc. text. It's very easy to do and would serve both purposes.

Has CL ever considered offering "premium" memberships?

Funniegrrl--
I've asked the site developers if this is possible. Unfortunately, it's not quite as simple as that--our site architechure and the bulletin boards (which are run on an outside server) need to work together, and work with the rest of the site. But we are looking into it and we'll see what we can do.

Gumbeaux--
Most of the site used to be accessible only to subscribers, and we found that didn't work well at all. Like most media sites online, we've found that advertising is a much better means of support than paid subscriptions, and it's not economical to build two different versions of the site for subscribers and non-subscribers.
