Hey everyone.. feel free to start off this thread if you are "here" first.. I've been starting it lately but it's open to anyone.
Canice, the BFL books aren't new. I'm thinking the original one ( never read it) was written by a guy for guys. Dr Pamela Peeke wrote the women's version in 2005. It adresses weight issues for women thru the different times of life, youth thru menopause. physical and psychological reasons for poor eating, overeating and lack of exercise. It has eating recommendations... how much, how often, and what foods... but not a specific "diet". It strongly recommends exercise with an emphasis on resistance training.
Most of what's in there I "know" but don't applyoften enough. I've also got the bob Greene Best Life book. I need to "remove" a few pounds. I start out strong and then lose focus after a while. I marked sections to re-read regularly to remind myself & help stick to plan. I've removed most bread and pasta & am eating smaller meals with snacks in between.
I read your weight is 90% diet and 10% exercise. I've been working very hard on exercise but not losing and actually gaining so I need a different approach. what worked when I was younger flat doesn't work anymore. I don't eat junk but gain easily and getting it off once it's on is heLL.
Anyway, my workouts this weekend were; late friday cathe's GS biceps, saturday 10 bike 30 treadmill 25 elliptical. Sunday 30 bike, 20 hard treadmill, and Cathe's Power Hour.
Anyone else have books you'd recommend?
Charisse, hope your cold is winding down and that everyone else in your family didn't get it...
