Hi all,

There are so many recipes I see in everyone's posts that I want to keep for later (ie, psycho chicken, spaghetti pie, etc.) but never know how to save them....what are your ways of doing this? Do you just copy and paste them somewhere?

Thanks!

I usually open up MasterCook and use the Import Assistant. I've also got a bunch of recipes that I've just cut and pasted in various Word files that I haven't moved into MasterCook yet.

For me, what I do with a recipe depends on my initial estimate of what I'll do with it. Recipes to try tend to get saved to my documents in Word format and opened in wordpad to print to try the recipe. If I know it's a keeper, I'll go ahead and initially save it into MssterCook (software for recipes) then print it from there if possible. If it's not formatted for Mastercook, I copy and paste or download to a word document in wordpad, then format and import into MasterCook for permanent.
Some really important recipes I print and file a paper copy in my recipe file cabinet..saves hours of looking when I'm in a rush. I keep an almost current database of the recipes I've filed paper copies of in the file cabinet.

Most recipes I leave on the 'net and just look them up when I need them.

I just looked up Mastercook on sierra.com and it came to $36 (including shipping/handling and subscription to Cooking Light)is that a typical price? Where else have you bought it? Thanks.

If I were thrifty and more organized, I would import them into Mastercook. But, since Mastercook is on one laptop and I look at the BB most on another, that method just never seemed to work well for me.

So... here is what I did the other day and I think it is going to work great. I rumaged around my office and found an old abandoned one inch three-ring binder. I then got one of those binder dividers with 15 or so different sections and a index page in front. Then, I copy the recipes into Word and print them off, three hole punch them and file them in the correct section of the binder. So far it is working great, and for me, it is tons easier than storing them in Mastercook. It is also easier for me to use them.... I have tried the laptop on the kitchen counter approach several times and am such a messy cook I worry about it. Sooooo, if I have to print it out anyway, why not just print them off right away and keep them organized. Gina

Looks like we were posting at the same time... I got Mastercook at Target for about twenty dollars.

I found Mastercook CL 6.0 at Target just before last Christmas for $20 including the year's subscription. Other places folks have mentioned finding it is Costco and/or Sam's Club. I just did a quick search and Amazon has it for $29.99 (and Amazon no longer charges for shipping). I was glad to find it for $20 but I would have paid more. I love it and use it all the time!

Thanks BethR! I'm actually heading to Target right now and will check it out. There is also a Costco right there too, thanks for the tip!

In saw it at Ross for $10. I was thinking about buying it, but didn't. Is it really worth it?

Right now, all of my recipes from the BB, get copy/pasted into Word, and printed off when I want to use them.
