We arrived and headed straight to Pat OBriens for a hurricane!

We then had dinner with friends at their favorite place, Vincents. The food was incredible, rich, fattening...

We started with Crab and Corn Bisque served in a bread bowl. It was followed by a Mixed Green Salad with a Blue Cheese Viniagrette . I had the Soft Shell Crab and Crab Cake served with fetticinni alfredo and cauliflower alfredo. Some of the other entrees had were Stuffed Shrimp (had by poor Angel who is 7 weeks pregnant and couldnt eat it once it arrived) and Veal with a Crab sauce . I had a dry white wine (what a surprise) and the boys had martinis.

Scott and I treated for dinner (they treated last time). It was the most money Ive ever spent on a meal! I suppose for what we got for 4 people it wasnt bad, though.....we spent $140.00!

After, Stephen took us for canolis. I couldnt even look at them. Ive never eaten so much rich food at one setting...I even had to buy pepto bismal.....

Day one was fun! (wonder if I can find wheat toast for breakfast)

Silly girl! You're supposed to get some of that hot, strong coffee with chicory, straight or au lait, and some beignets to make sure the fat in your arteries keeps flowing. :D If you want to lighten up a bit, look for tomato and pepper based creol sauces. Maybe you can find some fiberous red beans and brown rice -- vegetarian even? In New Orleans? Oh well, just enjoy.

I wanted a nice bowl of high fiber cereal with skim milk this morning to counter last night (and the night to come)....I dont think they have every HEARD of skim milk here!

I asked at the first place if they had skim and she said "yes, mam, 2%. I said, "no, do you have SKIM". She replyed they had 2% and REGULAR (what is this, gasoline???)

I did have a bignet today at the RIverwalk mall, it tasted like a sopapella. I also tried some GREAT hot sauces and bought a roasted garlic one.....

You're right, they are very similar, but the French "dust" with powdered sugar and the Mexicans use honey on the side, maybe a little cinnamon sugar too. But when in France.....
