Not to quash the remainder of last weeks thread - it was going so nicely. I'm looking forward to hearing about Robyn's skiing bonanza.

Good to hear from Nat on Boxing Day and to hear a report of a good run. Here's to cocooning with DH (in her case)!

After another eventful day came back home to give Mom some room. After I got home decided to take a spin so did just over an hour on the trainer and I'm looking forward to a long run in the morning.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Things are as sane as they can be. There is a little more that I've posted on the Other Stuff board so I won't repeat it here - more developments from the heart perspective.

Hope everyone had a good Boxing Day/day after Christmas. Anyone have a New Year's Day run in the offing?

Happy trails,
Les

Hi Les! Thanks for starting us off this week.

Welcome back home! Good job on the spin. After I post this I'll go over to Other stuff and see your thread there.

Edited to answer your question about a New Year's Day run. We have an annual New Year's Day run event with the club that's a lot of fun but I'm not sure I'll be able to make it this year. We'll see!

It's a dreary day here - foggy and rainy. DH and I are thinking that today might be a good day to treat ourselves to some breakfast out (we had been planning to do that some day this week). Later on I plan to spin.

Copying my thread over from the other thread:

How was peoples' Christmas? Ours was wonderful - fairly quiet and very relaxing. Great cocooning type of day.

I also have three good workouts to report from the last three days: decent 45 minute run; 50+ minute intense spin; very strong ~9k run (one of those runs when I wanted to go on and on, but figured that might not be smart ).

Les, sounds like a nice run for you. Must have been just the ticket with all that's going on. Sounds like you are all doing well, all things considered, and thanks for the update on your dad. You know DH and I are thinking of him and your whole family.

Robyn, enjoy the skiing.

Hi also to Kathy, ktg, Susan, Vicci, Betsy, Melissa, Meg, Eva, Julie, and the rest of the gang. Hope everyone is kicking back and enjoying life!

Nat - I hope that you can make the New Year's run this year. I'll probably run on New Years day but no one knows where that run may take place. There is a 4 miler here in the DC area that looks fun but that would mean that I'd have to leave Appomattox early on the 31st to make the race (assuming that I'm going there on Monday evening). Did you and DH have a nice breakfast out today? And how was your spin today?

Today was pretty interesting. I did a lot of prep work for the coming weeks trying to get all the volunteer tasks that I'm on the hook for the week of the 5th set up. So far so good - I'm getting bakers to make stuff for the seniors who are taking the equivalent of Comps that week (7, 3 1/2 hour exams on different aspects of ordained ministry called the General Ordination Examinations). Then I tried to get some semblance of a "schedule" for the kids to be with Mom and Dad (they don't need us all there at the same time - they will have more than enough assistance; but they may be able to use a gate keeper).

After that I took off for a run. It was nearly 62 when I headed out  and decided I'd try my had at a long run. Also figured that I'd be best served doing run/walk so I set out at 7/1 and ended up running about 1:38. SO far so good - but tomorrow will be the telling tale.

Off to cook dinner - Mahi Mahi filets with something.

Happy trails,
Les

Les-- my prayers continue for your Dad. You must have so enjoyed your run- both for the physical/emotional release and for the touch of spring-like temps.

Nat You've gotten some great w/o in in recent days. Nice way to end the year and this season of indulgence.

Christmas was peaceful for us, as well. Just Brendan and I at Dad and Mary's for the day- the rest of the family was snowed in on the other side of the mountains. We enjoyed a great dinner, lovely wine. It snowed all morning and I really didn't think we'd make it up the hills approaching my dad's place. Thank goodness for Subarus!

Friday I made it to the gym for the first time in a week- finally safe enough to drive on the side streets. It was SOO quiet-I had my pick of elliptical machines- and only 3 of us in yoga- I really loved the peaceful return to a routine.

ANd then, just like that, it's Seattle again. We had rain rain rain overnight and woke up to nearly clear streets. I had great run this morning, though I had to steer clear of sidewalks- too much slush and patches of ice that lingers. But temps are in the 40s and instead of winter storm warnings we have flood watches.

Took advantage of after-Christmas sales. Found a pair of Saucony's at my favorite running gear store for $40!! And a running hoodie at Lucy and a pair of capris for yoga, a couple of technical shirts- I'm all set.

Have a great week everyone- look forward to your holiday stories.

Julie

Hi all! It seems as though those who have posted had a nice Christmas. :)

Les, your family is in my thoughts. I hope that your Dad continues to do well, and that your schedule enables you to release some worry through running or biking.

Nat, I hope that you enjoyed your breakfast out. To me, that's a real treat and I love doing it.

Julie, you must be relieved to see rain! My BIL's sister and husband came in from Seattle for the holiday. Since their flight through Chicago was cancelled, they had to go to Houston, then Cleveland, then Pittsburgh, then rent a car... they arrived a day late but, alas, without luggage. And congrats on getting to the gym on "the day after"-- I'm not surprised that it was quiet there!

For the first time in a week I was able to get out for a run. Fifty lovely minutes in sun and 50 degrees-- heaven! It seems as though all I did was eat from the time we entered Mom's house on Tuesday to when we left on Saturday afternoon. I might have gotten rid of a couple of cookies... ;)

Hope that everyone is having a nice, relaxing, recuperative weekend!

Hello all!

Les you are still in my thoughts and prayers. Good luck with all you have to do in the coming weeks.

Natasha How was your breakfast out?

Julie Your Christmas dinner sounds lovely! Which hoodie did you get at Lucy?

Vicci Your run sounds divine!

Well, I've had a wonderful week of skiing. Four days of incredible conditions albeit a bit cold (wind chill approaching -40 yesterday). I would post photos but apparently these days when I post links it must be approved by the moderator which never happens so for those of you on Facebook take a look there. I've been skiing shin to thigh deep powder in places with some wonderful friends. And, one of my athletes had a huge breakthrough yesterday which has me grinning ear to ear since this is my second year with him. In addition I had an absolutely to die for dinner of 14 courses at my favorite restaurant for Christmas Eve.

I'm off this coming week so I'm planning 4 more ski days plus some other workouts.

I am truly blessed in life and this year has been mind blowingly wonderful. The best of my life so far. Thank you all for being a part of it!

Leslie Ferguson

Great pix Robyn. It looks like you are having a blast - I can only think of a couple times that I've been in snow approaching that depth and it definitely wasn't powder. It sounds like you've got a couple busy weeks ahead of you. 14 course dinner on Christmas? That sounds huge - makes our puny 5 course thing sound so tiny. It's been a great year having you around here too.
Vicci - It sounds like you're loving the change in weather too. I'm not sure I'm a fan of 70[ like it was today but it beats the pants off the teens. Hope you have a good week up your way.
Julie - Don't you just love the Pacific North-wet (no typo there)? As we used to say in college and when I lived in Seattle - there are two colors in the winter... gray and grayer. Hopefully you don't get flooded out with the rain and warmer weather too. Isn't it nice to have the run of the gym too?

Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts. It's been a good weekend to recapture my self and get some solid runs in. I hope it's not just running away from reality. I was a little afraid that the long run from yesterday would have been something I paid for today but for the most part I'm doing well.

The hits just keep coming - I hope to run or ride tomorrow before heading back down south. Dad's due at the hospital at 6am Tuesday and although transportation is covered and he and Mom will have plenty of support LW and I will be down for peace of mind and to hear the doctor's words and help devise a plan to get from "here" to my folks moving to their new place.

Happy trails all and good runs for the remainder of the year. It's been quite the ride hasn't it?

A lurker popping in. I'm not so much into running anymore, but I have been cranking out some good miles on the treadmill at a fast walk.

I just clicked on this thread, and Robyn's sentence of "I am truly blessed in life and this year has been mind blowingly wonderful. The best of my life so far. Thank you all for being a part of it!" really struck me. All I can say.... what a great sentence to write and to read.

And, Les, sending good thoughts for your dad.

Happy New Year to all of you! And, happy running!

Happy holidays everyone!! We are back from our trip down to see the in-laws. Also got to visit w/some old friends who were in town for the holidays. We had a very nice holiday with them, and a few days to ourselves back home, which I always like.

Les - There must be something in the air b/c FIL had a heart attack on Tues, so we dropped everything & high-tailed it down early to see him. All went smoothly, and he's really fortunate. Did not need by-pass, and got to come home Xmas Day b4 noon. We're definitely thinking of your family right now dealing with this and more.

Nat - your holiday sounds wonderful! Did Santa bring you any good running stuff? (maybe I missed that part of the thread)

KValley - Glad your ice is all gone. I just learned we have a mutual IRL friend! What a small world.

Robyn - Your break sounds really wonderful. DH wants to go downhill skiing this season. Haven't been in a few years. Do you give virtual lessons? ;-) So glad you're reflecting on an awesome year

I've been very good on the bike trainer lately. Several days in a row. Not too long b/c I go nuts on that thing. But I figure at least I'm working out :-)

Santa (meaning DH) was good to me this year -- I got a Shuffle for running, new ice treads for my shoes (different brand from YakTrax. I'll give you a review once they arrive. They're on order), and the new Tyler Florence cookbook! I'm very excited about that. We also got gift cards for Nike and Dick's Sporting Goods from family/friends, so I'm looking forward to some new gear.

Vicci, sounds like quite the jaunt for your BIL and his wife  Glad you enjoyed the mild weather, family time... and cookies!

Robyn, a 14-course meal - wow! Glad we were able to be here for you during your most excellent year :D Here's to more such years for all the VRBs!

Welcome, applecrisp!

Breakfast out was lovely, thanks, as was our little dinner event Sat. night. Since Saturday I've gotten in a spin, core work, a shortish run, a hike, and... a swim! Yup, today I finally made it back to the pool and had a blast.

Hi to Julie, Susan, Les, and the rest of the gang. Gotta go... time to run a couple of errands.

Best to all!!

Welcome applecrisp - come back whenever you can.

Good seeing you too Susan and that's bad and good news about FIL. Bad that he had a heart attack but good that he was home before lunch the following day. It sounds like you had an okay Christmas all things considered and it sounds like you got some neat gifts -- good for you. Thank you for your prayers and wishes too.
Nat - Good seeing you again too. Sounds like a good couple days for you too. A spin, breakfast and dinner out with DH -- loving life to be sure. Bike, hike, swim, and run -- way to go.

I had a good spin this morning - about 50 minutes - before heading out and south. I'm at Mom and Dad's house now and need to turn in because it's an early rise to get Dad to the hospital: 5:30 show time and who knows how long in the hospital for the procedure and before we come home. Had the surreal opportunity to cut Dad's hair tonight (he wanted it really short before going to the hospital and his barber refused to cut it as short as he wanted it so I obliged). Still, it felt weird to cut his hair (lots of emotional reasons).

With that, off to bed and praying that you all are well and warm.

Happy trails and thanks for your thoughts and prayers on the 'morrow.

Susan, I'd be happy to give you any pointers I can. I'd also suggest visiting us over at www.theskidiva.com which is a community of women skiers that have been wonderful friends to me with the same addiction. Feel free to speak up if you have any questions. Or, just come to Colorado and I'll go skiing with you. :D

Les, you are in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. I'll be in my own person church (the mountains) and will be certain to think of your dad.

Nat, glad the swim went well. I meant to get to the pool today but didn't. Oops.

Les - You and your family continue to be in my thoughts, especially this morning. Grace to your Dad.

Robyn - -40 weather?! Brrr that is cold! I saw your picture in the "a year in photos" thread and the skiing looks so beautiful! Glad the conditions have been so good!

Nat - Still catching up from before Christmas.... we rock climb indoors at a gym. There aren't really any outdoor opportunities in Florida (but I have climbed outdoors before), but the gym is really fun. They switch up their routes a lot so there is always something new. Glad you had some good workouts over the holidays!

Susan - Glad you had a nice holiday with your family and friends. Santa brought you some good gifts too!

Vicci - Mmm cookies! Hehe! The weather sounds wonderful, perfect for running.

Julie - Good find at the after-Christmas sale! Glad the weather is finally back to "normal" for Seattle!

My Christmas was wonderful...got to spend time DBF's family and my family, which really was the best part. :) We don't get to see them as often as we would like so it was nice to spend a few days with everyone. Also got in some good runs.

DBF got me the Nike+ for Christmas! :D I think it needs to be calibrated though. I took it on my run last night, on a route that I know is 3.1 miles. It told me I ran 4.02 miles at a ~8:00/mile pace. Haha! Quite the confidence booster, but I know I didn't magically shave 3 minutes off my mile time. So I am going to try and calibrate it tomorrow.

What are everyone's New Year's plans? We are having a bunch of friends over to our house for a little party. Don't really want to be out on the roads, so we thought it'd be fun to have people over.

Hi, all! It has been a very nice, but also busy holiday. Today I am having technical problems with the site for some reaon. One example.... I can see that Meg was the last to post, but I cannot see her post. The last one I can read is Natasha's. There are other bizarre problems, too, so I posted to technical support. Hopefully they can straighten me out!

Some yoga, weights and a few TM runs over the last several days. Hoping to get outside one day this week, as we have sunny temps in the 40's. Working tomorrow, and coming home to make pizza for the kids...having a few friends over for the NY.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, and wish you many happy runs in the coming year! (Or spins, or weights, or yogas, or ironmans, or tris, or........(fill in the blank!). :)

Checking in to report a good bike spin on the trainer. I'm watching a goofy Rock Hudson movie while I wait for my Lost DVD to arrive at the library :-) DH hasn't worked out in about 2 weeks. Hopefully he'll get motivated soon. We're starting to look at 2009 race calendars...and annual late-Dec ritual!

We're also watching a lovely snow.

To answer Les' earlier question...we do have a NY Day race here, but I've never done it. I've done them at other places & they're quite fun. But, the route for this one is quite boring and we've never been motivated to check it out. It's also sponsored by a horrific greasy chain restaurant, so we're also not motivated to do a race then chow down on buffalo wings! Oh well.

Robyn - Love your CL BB photo thread!

Leslie Ferguson
12-30-2008, 06:09 PM
Hey Susan, I hope that the Lost DVD comes in soon and thanks for your response about New Years races. I hope that you're enjoying the snow too.
Katny B - Sorry that you're having issues with the BB - hopefully you get them worked out soon.
Meg - Sounds like a great gift (Nike+) but a little disconcerting. Hopefully you can get it calibrated soon - but great news that you're 3 minutes per mile faster with it than without it... you need to use it more often. ;) As for New Years - LW isn't a big midnight kind of person so if anything I give her a kiss at midnight while she's sleeping. I'd love to find a midnight run - Portland OR supposedly has one (~8 or 10 k) that starts at 11:30 so most are finishing around midnight. This year... we'll drive home tomorrow (most likely) and spend the night recovering from the emotion of the past week.

Speaking of which -- good news (as expected). Dad came through his surgery (that morphed to 6-way) in about 6 hours. The doctor said he has a 40 y/o heart and 20 y/o arteries now. All he'll have to do is rest so he can recuperate. Thank you all for your prayers and concerns we appreciated them and felt them all day.

Happy trails,
Les

Oh Les, I am so glad to hear that your Dad came through surgery (and with a 40y/o heart and 20y/o arteries, to boot!). I'm certain that he will sail through his recovery, too. This must be such a relief to you and your family!

Robyn, are wind chills of -40 common in those big mountains? Wow. I can't even imagine...

Your attitude about the trainer sounds like mine with the EB, Susan! But when it's snowy and icy out, there's not much of a choice, is there? Hope that your FIL has a complete recovery, and quickly.

Meg, I'm so glad that your Christmas was wonderful (that's what the holiday is meant for, right???). Personally, I wouldn't recalibrate that Nike+!!! :D

KathyB, good show on the varying exercises during these busy holidays! I completely dropped the ball for over a week... what's your secret? ;)

Today was my Last Run of 2008-- a whole hour in sunny, though quite cool, weather. It's funny, I was heading in after 40 minutes, then decided to do another loop, then a song with a great beat to run to came on, then a Motown favorite... suddenly I was 54 minutes and I couldn't resist making it to 60! We are supposed to get some snow tomorrow, with much colder temps, so it may be the EB for the remainder of the week.

We are going to head to the lake house tomorrow, hopefully before the snow arrives. A quiet NYE with DH (and a couple of mega-shrimp, plus a bottle of excellent champagne!), then friends may be coming over for a New Years Day dinner of black-eyed peas and collard greens.

A very happy New Year to you all, and a healthy 2009 as well. See you next year!

Les, so glad things went well with your dad!

Kathy, good to see you!

Meg, the Nike+ sounds exciting, at least once it gets calibrated.

Susan, I already know all the dates for my 2009 calendar. It's so fun to know what is coming! What are you thinking of doing?

Vicc, -40 degree windchills aren't all that uncommon but not an every week occurrence either. Honestly, my core was fine with the layering I did (love my new Patagonia down sweater).

I was fortunate that I received a check I wasn't expecting an just bought Hotronics boot heaters so hopefully that will help on cold days.

Alright, I'm beat so I'm signing off. Day 6 of skiing in 8 days tomorrow. Not sure where or with whom but I'll be up either way.

MegMeg - Everyone I know with a Nike+ loves it! I'm sure it will be a great training tool for you. Glad you got to spend so much time w/family last week.

Les - great news about your Dad! DH & I made our own NYE run one year. Took the bus downtown. Watched fireworks. Then ran back home as it hit midnight. It was a blast (except the onion soup I had made for dinner wasn't conducive to running....lesson learned!)

Robyn - I'm not telling yet ;-) And thx for the URL. I'll check it out. Do you have any new races or goals for 09? (I think you mentioned a few races already, but I've forgotten!)

I made plans to go on a hike tonight w/some friends. It will most likely be below zero, so I hope he doesn't kill me :-)

Hoping to get in a bike spin today, but my meeting schedule is kinda wacky. Keeping my fingers crossed

I miss the New Year's Eve Midnight Run in Central Park! That was always a fun run....4 miles and it started at midnight with fireworks and had (non-alcoholic) champagne at the halfway point.

Les, I'm glad to read that your dad's surgery was successful and I'm sorry to hear about your cousin.

Robyn, sounds like you are having fun with all the skiing!

Vicci, I'm planning for my last run of 2008 later today. It's sunny but chilly here. This is a little late, but the pictures from your anniversary were beautiful and the decorating was awesome.

Kathy, I hope they have solved your technical problems.

Meg, enjoy the Nike+!

Susan, glad to hear that your FIL is doing well after his heart attack.

Julie, you got some good bargains! I wish we had better shopping here.

Natasha, you have been busy since Saturday, working out.

Hello to everyone else and I hope everyone has a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2009!

ktg, that sounds like such a fun race! It's too bad you can't do it this year, but I hope your last run of 2008 is/was fun.

Susan, glad your FIL is doing well! Continued good thoughts for him. On a completely different (and more trivial) note, please let us know how you like your new traction devices. We got some in the mail yesterday that we'd ordered from MEC - they're called Stabilicers. There is apparently a Sport version for running but ours are the Lite ones, more for dog walking or hiking.

Les, thanks for the update and I am so glad to hear things went smoothly!

Vicci, sounds like an awesome last run for the year.

Hi to the rest of the gang!

I took yesterday off after 7 days of training in a row. Much needed. I did yoga, though. My last workout for 2008 was an awesome swim today. I went hard, swam quite well (well, for me ;)) and had a great time.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that we finished Season One of Mad Men. Very entertaining indeed, although as I mentioned before, quite warped ;) We loved the commentary on advertising and the historical clips. Recommended as long as you don't mind a good dose of "hanking and panking", as one of the ad women put it ;) Looking forward to Season Two. Now we're on to Veronica Mars, from the library... not quite as good but hopefully decent training fodder. I also have the John Adams HBO miniseries reserved at the library, and when that comes in I hope it also proves to be good indoor training entertainment.

Off to get things ready for our dinner tonight. Happy NYE, everyone, and I look forward to chatting with you all in 2009!

Hey friends - it looks like a busy day at the end of the year with lots of runs etc. It's actually turning to 2009 right now so I'll be brief. I hope that all have a blessed 2009 and it's been grand sharing the ether with you all. I'd love to chat and make individual responses but it's been a wild week and I'm tired. All things considered today was a busy day - not all that productive but helpful and good. Got "released" from my folks house - Mom is doing really well and Dad is doing great. He looks great, not that he looked sick a couple days ago but he looks fantastic - color is good etc. Even found out from Mom that he's been walking in the Cardiac Recovery Unit with the nurses already (late this afternoon). Tired from the trip back to northern VA and being blown all over creation with 40-60 mph gusts. I plan on running tomorrow (my habit) and then cooking up a storm. The remainder of the week? Don't know but I'm going to relax a little.

Hope you are well and...

Happy New Years to you all!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, RUNNERS!

Starting out in typical Northwest fashion, it is POURING. But I love it- it's very cozy and soothing. I do work today, which accounts in part for the insanity of getting up a 4 am. Brendan and I both worked last night- it was a blast- very busy with customers in happy moods, but I was exhausted & fast asleep long before the New Year rang in. Pathetic

Taking a day off from running/gym, though I'll get a good walk into work and I'll be hefting beer & wine cases all day- prepping for inventory tomorrow and resetting after the past couple of days' frenzy in the department...

Les Such good news about your dad. Continued prayers for a speedy recovery from surgery. Kudos to your dad for having such a healthy heart!

Susan- my thoughts for your FIL-praying for good news for him, too. And yes- what an astonishingly small world! It's been such a kick to connect with friends on Facebook, but I never anticipated the random connections between seemingly separate social circles!

Natasha, sounds like you more than earned your day of rest!

Robyn, I love seeing your winter/skiiing photos- your enthusiasm is contagious (but not so much that I am compelled to head to the hills and don a pair of skis- I'll live vicariously through your adventures :) )

Vicci- did you get snow overnight? Congratulations on your last, long, beautiful run of 2008. Don't you love that extra push of adrenalin/endorphins that push you to go farther!!

Kathy, I hope online frustrations get sorted out. I noticed this week that I'm having to log on each time I visit the BB- it's annoying! Your energy amazes me- still getting in w/o with all that you have happening!

Meg I loved your photos! Have fun setting up your NIKE+ What a wonderful DBF! So glad you had a beautiful Christmas and I hope last night was terrific, too!

Hi applecrisp, Terri, Kathy, Carrie (Carrie, did you see the January Runner's World- there's a nice photo/article about cold weather gear, if you have any room left in your suitcases)!

I definitely need more coffee if I'm going to get through this day... Have a beautiful start to 2009 everyone :)

Hi all! Happy New Year!

Julie, hope your day is going well and I can see why you'd need more coffee to get through it :)

Les, welcome home and enjoy your restorative run and cooking storm. So glad to hear that your mom and dad are doing well!

Kathy, hope your festivities went well. Pizza... mmm. Vicci, how were the mega-shrimp and champagne? Did you have your NYD event today?

We had a lot of fun last night and had some belly-aching laughs. Good core training, no? It occurred to me that the Brick Chicken we served would be a suitably-named dish to take to a triathlon-themed event ;) It turned out well - very moist.

Today I went to the annual run club NYD event. We did about 7 miles and took two breaks for trivia. I was one of the team captains and when a team didn't get a question right, the lucky captains were the first to be treated to peach schnapps. Yuck!! So disgusting in the middle of a run, and before noon. Fortunately I didn't have to have more than a few sips ;) It was all good fun and it was a glorious, sunny day for a run. Couldn't stick around for long afterwards, though, as we have a family event on tap.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying a day of repose and anticipation for the upcoming year!

Hi all! Just a short one this evening as I'm exhausted. Another day of skiing. I know, it's a rough, horrible life! ;):p:D Actually I met another CLBB member, MomofMooch and skied a few runs with her and then met her DH and DS afterwards. A great day all in all but I'm just beat this evening. I've skied 6 of the last 8 days.:D

Happy new year to all my VRBs!!!!

I'm not sure that I'll try to catch up with everyone but ktg the race through Central Park sounds like fun and just the thing to get the year ended and started right. I hope your New Year's celebration was a good one.
Robyn - 6 days of skiing in 8  but it sounds like you're having a blast. I hope that you had a good ski today too. Maybe I'll get a plan set up for the year. Probably run Rock 'n Roll half VB (again) but I can't even think about anything else except "Corbin's Fun Run" - raising funds for Congenital Heart Defects.
Nat - Peach Schnaps - yuk. Before noon. YUCK!! I hope the family event went well for you today also. I applaud you for taking a day off after 7 straight days working out.
Julie - Ah, the beauties of the Pacific NorthWet. Know it well but also remember runing in Portland a couple years ago in 3 inches of powder on New Years Day - slicker than you can imagine but a beautiful and surreal run. Here's to the wonder drink of the day... coffee.
Vicci - Ditto here... how was your fete last night?

Happy New Years to the rest of the gang - applecrisp, Kathy B, Meg and all the lurkers out there.

I ran today, as expected. Just a touch over an hour in 33 degree weather - sunny and not too windy. Nice run and definitely worth going out to keep up the NYD tradition. Things progress well on other fronts including cooking and Dad-land. Dad's a little tired but not too unexpected - he did a lot yesterday. Dinner tonight was "Red, White, and Blue (Black) bean soup withchicken and tomatoes. Nice and filling supper - great with crusty bread.

Sleepy after a late "to bed" last night so I'll sign out and wish you all sweet dreams and Happy New Year! (again)

Les
