I'm on the lookout out for pregnancy books and exercise dvd's. I currently have the baby bargains book and another pregnancy book but it just really doesn't give me any information. So, what would you recommend?

I loved the podcasts at www.pregtastic.com and of course the pregnancy threads here. I never got into any of the books -- too scary for me.

I really liked the pregnancy week by week book. I'm don't remember the exact title, but you'll find it at Barnes and Noble. It breaks down info week by week, and I liked that in the beginning when a lot was happening but not visibly.

I also signed up for the weekly emails at babycenter.com. Those were similarly interesting for me ... "your baby is the size of a lentil and growing X,Y,Z" kind of stuff.

I highly recommend doing the weekly belly picture thing. I didn't quite get that together, and regret it. So I'll do it next time. Likewise writing in a journal... never quite got it done but would have liked to have done so.

Congrats - it's such an exciting time! My little one is 6 weeks old, and I had a wonderful pregnancy (although I would have told you something else those last two weeks...:rolleyes:)

I liked Your Pregnancy Week by Week by Glade B Curtis and Judith Schuler. I preferred this one because Glade B Curtis is an MD vs most of the others written by an assortment of varying nurses and PA's. I've looked at the What to Expect When Your Expecting - it's a standard, but it really wasn't the right book for me.

When I finally realized with my first pregnancy that the baby was coming out in a few more weeks, I bought the Laugh and Learn About Childbirth DVD by Sheri Bayles. While in labor, I remember thinking her description of pushing was spot-on, and listening to the lectures gave me a better sense of what to expect. DH and I didn't have time to take classes since his schedule was packed pre-delivery so he could take time off afterwards - after watching this, I didn't feel like I was missing information.

Just my 2cp - there's so many opinions on everything before and after the baby; have fun deciding what you want to do. :)

In case it wasn't clear... the book Nancy recommended is the same one I recommended. She just took the time to remember the name and author! :D But it is a great book.

We replied close together - I cheated and went to Amazon.:D

On a tangental note, I'm hoping that bf'ing is finally calming down for you - it sounds like you'd turned the corner.
