Not that this is a world changing event, but I'm quite curious, why is it that I can't see MY avatar, and there are some other users whose avatars I can't see, but the bulk of them I can? Is there a setting on my computer (just got it back from the laptop-hospital, maybe a setting changed?)

This question has been asked times. Some avatars were lost when Cooking Light made changes to the forum. Choose another avatar or upload a custom avatar. This should solve your problem.

Thanks, Gumbeaux! That's exactly what you need to do. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Very strange. I can't see *any* of them on the User CP section. I guess I just have to delete it altogether :(

I can't see any either. I don't know what the deal is.

You're right, I don't see them either. I'll open a ticket with tech support. It seems like custom-uploaded avatars are working fine but if you choose one of the default ones it doesn't work. Hopefully we'll have a fix ASAP.

Thanks, I thought I'd done something un-clever again. I'm just gratified to know it's not just me (like it usually is... !!!)

We have solved the avatar problem! It turns out the images were hosted in a folder that ceased to exist when we updated the site, but they are now back where they should be. If you go to the edit avatar screen, you'll see all the old avatars. Thanks for your patience.

OK, I've haven't posted anything in the last 2-3 weeks during our move, but now my avatar has disappeared again. I see a box with a red "x" in it. When I go to the "edit avatar" page they all have the red "x".

Am I doing something wrong?

Don't worry TieKitty. Lots of avatars are missing. You can't get angry for the mad smily is now also a  :D
BTW my apologies that Texas is greeting you with triple digit temperatures.

Not to digress, but Holy Cow! Hot doesn't cover it! This is worse than I remember Houston being. I dread getting our first electric bill.

Tiekitty, I think your best bet is to start over with a different avatar. Just reupload the image you were using (or a different one if you want) and replace your current avatar. It sounds like something has gone awry with the image file you're using now.

Thanks for the response. I was using an avatar from the User CP. All of them have been "x"d out.

Mine are gone again too! Did the file folder get moved again like it did the last time? I don't have mine, or anyone else's...
Even some of the little smilies are gone which is strange. :(

I haven't heard of any backend changes to the boards, but sometimes IT does stuff without telling us. I've opened a help ticket to have them look into this.

I would still like to know why we can't see the mad smilie?
