In an effort to organize my life and save money (yeah, right!) - I've decided to try meal planning. I've just inventoried my freezer and pantry, and am now in the process of the best way to store this information to keep it up to date.

I was wondering if any of you MasterCook whizzes actually use the Pantry List, Shopping List, and Meal Planner? If yes, does it work well for you?

(Stupid question alert!) When using the "What can I make?" option in the pantry, are you required to have item amounts listed? For example, instead of just saying you have boneless, skinless chicken breasts, do you need to say you have 1 lb. of them before it will actually pull up a recipe for you?

The only recipe that comes up when I use this is for a simple syrup which just uses sugar and water! But my sugar isn't listed by weight, so it doesn't make sense.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated - even if it's just pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Shirley

Hi Shirley!

I can't answer your Mastercook question but last night I made my 1st attempt in the direction of meal planning myself. I wonder if I can adhere to it as my meals are usually based on my mood, what's on sale or a good recipe calling my name. Let us know if it works for you.

Have had MC since the very first version:p I love the program, but the pantry and shopping lists are a waste of time in my opinion.
I used to ENBED recipes, but I don't do that very often. I mainly enter my recipes, (or cut and paste) and I find that adjusting the amount of ingredients (ie:4 servings to 10 servings) is a great feature.:)
