Good morning! :) Is it okay that I start this thread? I finally remembered that Friday is new thread day so I figured I go ahead and start one since I am online early.
Had a great evening climbing Wednesday night (did my second 5.10 route), but nothing to report running-wise. :( I have an appointment with my orthopedic physician for next Tuesday morning (I saw him so much after my broken femur we are practically BFF's hehe). I am hoping that my leg/ankle/whatever it is will feel better by then and I can cancel the appointment, but I figure it's best to probably get it checked out since it's been hurting for over a week. I am supposed to run the Universal 5K race a week from tomorrow...hope I am still able to do it.
Happy Friday everyone!!

Hi, Meg! You are up early! Hope your appointment goes well if you end up keeping it. Good idea to go ahead and schedule one since it usually takes a while to get in. As you said, you can always cancel if you don't need it. MIght not be a bad idea to see him either way and get his thoughts on what the problem might be and get a go ahead for the 5K (or not :(). Have a great weekend!
Did some yoga early while the kids were getting ready for school. Now I'm heading in to the office for a while. Hopefully I'll get home early enough for a little TM before dinner.
Happy Friday all! :)

Hi!
Meg, thanks for starting us off this week! Wow, a 5.10 route... you must climb a lot! Hope your leg issue clears up soon and I commend your decision to go easy until you get it checked out.
Kathy, nice job on the yoga and hope you get on the TM! You mentioned the office - is that at the hospital or do you have TWO jobs on top of all else you do? :)
I have a run to report and plan to spin soon, before we go out tonight. Have spent most of the day on the phone in meetings and now need to polish off a few things before doing that spin.
Best to all :D

OK, so I know I should workout today and definitely have a bit of pent up energy. But, I'm going to bail. I dropped something on my foot this a.m. & my toe has been throbbing all day. I'll be using that as my excuse. But, really, I'm in relax/detox mode from a crazy work week. And am dealing with some crazy family stuff today (stress w/Dad....mad at my sister...how come as grownups you can still get angry like a 15 y.o.??) Too funny. DH & I are going to head out, do some errands and find a nice relaxing place for dinner. He takes such good care of me :-)
Happy weekend wishes to everyone! I have cooking club tomorrow, which I always look forward to. It will be my girls morning brunch!

Back to report 35 min on the TM, thanks to you, Natasha. I got home from work and logged on, and when I read your post, I thought, Oh yeah, I am supposed to do the TM! So I logged off and got it done! Thanks for the nudge. :p
No, I don't have a second job. But in addition to working in my unit as a charge nurse, I also have a LOT of paperwork for a unit committee I chair, staff evaluations and various projects that require office time. I have been at the hospital for a loooooong time, so they are pretty flexible about when I come in as long as I get it all done. Of course, I never really get it ALL done.....
Hope you got your spin in, and have fun out tonight!
Susan, the toe thing makes me cringe to hear about it. A friend of mine was pulling something out of her freezer, and a package of frozen meat fell out on her toe and broke it! I am glad your injury wasn't worse, but I don't blame you for bailing out on the workout today. Hope it's a rapid recovery! Families.....gotta love 'em! :D

Meg sounds like a great climb!
Kathy are you the energizer bunny IRL?
Susan So glad DH is taking care of you!
Well, I guess I should offer a few extra details about the boot camp. During my spin class we would spin, sprint then get off and do things like squats, dips, pushups, planks, bicycle crunches etc. It kicked my arse! My right tricep still feels like it's been punched very hard! Today I got in a run, a personal record of 3.5 miles in 40 minutes so my pace stayed the same as my shorter runs this week even though it was quite hilly. I'm very, very excited!
Natasha

Kathy, glad you got in that run! Thanks for explaining the office thing... I think I need to send you a cape, with all that you do!
Hi Robyn, Meg, Susan, Les, and everyone else! Robyn, boot camp sounds fun!
I have 2 spins and a run to report. The run was a bit over 8 miles with the speedy group (the only ones out this morning). It was about 8 degrees F (-7 or so with the windchill), but it was sunny and honestly wasn't bad at all. My layers of clothing worked perfectly and I was never hot, cold, or wet.
Best to all for the week ahead :)

Good morning! I was just signed up for one leg of this (http://www.edgetoedgemarathon.com/) marathon relay in June; not sure which leg I have yet, but it will be between 7.2 km and 10km.
This will be my first running race and I am actually pretty excited about it! My team is going to dress up and have fun with it, so it won't be super competitive, but I do want to try to get a decent time on my leg (and a couple of my teammates are more serious runners with full and half marathons under their belt). I do some running now, but mostly around 5 km. I could easily run 10 km, but it certainly wouldn't be fast. I have also been doing at least 25km of skate skiing (both flats and hills) every weekend.
I am not sure what I need to do to train for this kind of event. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any websites that are good? Luckily, I do have some time to work on it. :)
Thanks in advance!

Kathy - Now I feel better after hearing about your friend. It was a simple water bottle that dropped on my toe from the top of the fridge. I never thought of them as heavy before, but it hit just right that it actually cut my toe. Wow - you volunteer to do paperwork. You are a much nobler person than me! Nice you got in that TM session.
Robyn - The fact that your right tricep aches but not your left makes me laugh! I thought I was the only one who was lopsided. I can totally tell a difference between right & left arm strength when doing weights.
Good bike spin yesterday, along w/weights & core.
My exciting news is that I found a running group that I'm really pumped about. It's through a local running store. Their first run is one week from today. Eek! I'd better get out and run first!

oceanjasper, great to see you here! How fun about your relay. I can imagine it's a GORGEOUS route. Sounds like you will be more than ready, especially with all that skate skiing you do. You might try coolrunning.com for more info on getting ready, though I've not used that site for anything more than logging workouts a while back (and I know they have good training programs that many here have used). You might also enjoy that book on running that the Running Room puts out - or maybe you already have it? Can't remember the name now... used to be Running Start to Finish, I think, but that was a while back and they could have changed it. But if you're just doing the one leg and are already up to 5k, you should have no issues.
My run club has done a few relays in the past and always had a blast. We'll see if we can do one again this year. Personally, I've never done one but it looks like such fun.
Susan, hope you enjoy the new group!
Robyn, meant to say earlier that you will be so ready for your tris this season!
Take care, guys... off to finish sipping my decaf, do some food shopping, and check out Slumdog Millionaire with DH :)

Thanks, Natasha! I appreciate your vote of confidence that I will be able to pull this off and not be a total slow poke. :) I will check out the coolrunning website and I'll see if I can track down that book. We don't have a Running Room here, but I think I know where there is one not too far away.

That race looks like a blast oceanjasper, I love running on Vancouver Island and that part of the coast is gorgeous (at least from sea).
Nat - great runs and spins to you and -7 windchill (is that F?) is a bit brisk for me. Great job none the less.
A shout out to the rest of the gang. Need to turn in for my trip to Boston tomorrow. It will be a long haul up but well worth the trip. I spun today for about 40 minutes (not too long but had a bunch of things to do in prep for tomorrow).
Happy trails and I may be out of pocket until Thursday so have a great week.

Good morning everyone! As I suspected, as soon as I made the appointment to see. my physician my leg started feeling better! I climbed on Saturday with no pain and rode the stationary bike yesterday with no problems. I want to run today and see how it feels. Assuming it feels good, can I get some advice on how I should run this week? I was planning to run today, tomorrow, and Thursday; or today, Wednesday, and Thursday. Not sure about distances either, other than I probably shouldn't go for 5k distance today hehe.
Les - Enjoy your trip to Boston!
oceanjasper - Ohhh the race you are doing looks beautiful! I am no running expert, but if you are already running 5km then I don't think you'll have any trouble increasing your distance for the relay. Have fun!!
Nat - How was Slumdog Millionaire? Nice run in the single digit weather! About climbing....yes, we do climb a lot. We started back regularly (after my leg was healed enough) in August going once per week and in October started going twice per week. Going that often has allowed me to really increase my skills and ability, and get stronger too!
Susan - Very cool that you found a running group! How was cooking club on Saturday?
Robyn - Wow! Your boot camp sounds crazy!! But so good, in a butt kicking kind of way hehe! Congratulations on your PR run distance!
Kathy - I didn't realize that you work in a hospital too. Which nursing unit do you work on, if you don't mind me asking...just curious. :)

Glad to hear your leg is better, Meg. Are you still planning to keep your appointment? It may be easier to decide after you try running on it today. I work part-time in the Peds ICU. I was full time for years until my kids hit middle school. Now I am one day a week in the unit, plus office time as needed. My kids are pretty active, and I couldn't ask for a more flexible schedule!
Good job on your spin, Les! Hope you have a safe trip to Boston and good weather as well.
Oceanjaspar, your race looks great! How is your team dressing up? And what kind of temps does Van Couver have in July....I noticed long sleeves in the pictures (which would be unthinkable around here in July!).
Natasha, way to go on your speedy 8 miles! Do you wear something over your face when you run in single digit temps? It has been in the teens and twentys here lately, and the few people I do see out running have very red faces.
Good work on your workout, too, Susan! We will be waiting for a report on the new running group. Did you schedule yourself a preliminary run this week? ;)
I did weights and TM Saturday, and then again this AM. Not in top form this AM for weights...some days 12 reps is just more than I can squeeze out, even if I've been doing it at that weight for a while. So I just lowered my standards today :p. TM wasn't bad, though, 40 minutes with intervals.
Off and running! Have a great week!

Oceanjasper - I think we were simultaneously posting last time. Thx for checking in here -- we love having new people! That race looks awesome. I'd love to do a team relay some time. I'd definitely pick a training schedule for a 10K or half (if that's what you want to do). Not sure the training itself would be different for a relay. I'd also suggest finding a few 5K or 10K races before June so you can have a few practices under your belt. This will help you get used to race-day jitters & pacing yourself in the middle of big groups.
MegMeg - that's great news about your leg feeling better. I'd still say to minimize your impact workouts to give it a few more days of rest.
Kathy - I'm not a big fan of having things on my face when I run. A lot of people do that, but I don't like my breath getting the mask/scarf mushy, it makes my sunglasses fog up, and is just generally annoying to me.
No workout yesterday. I think I mentally wanted one more day of rest b4 jumping into a serious schedule for the next several months. Plus I was exhausted from my marathon house cleaning day. Why do I continue to save the whole house for all at once?? Oi.

P.S. Oceanjasper - If this race is new to you, be sure to check out marathonguide.com. It's really useful to learn reviews about the course & organization beforehand, so you can prepare.

Kathy, I don't typically wear something over my face in those temps, but do take something with me if I need it. Yesterday I had a scarf and occasionally would cover up but most of the time didn't need it.
Les, enjoy Boston!
Meg, glad your leg is feeling better (knock on wood) :)
Where are Vicci, ktg and Eva these days? Looking forward to their updates.
Today might bring a spin, and definitely some yoga and core. Would love a swim but the time doesn't suit.
I misspoke yesterday - I have done relays before, but not the multi-day type. I realized when I looked more carefully at oceanjasper's link that it was a marathon relay. Looks like a lovely marathon... maybe I'll have to check it out someday when I make it to that part of the country :)
Oh yes, the movie. It was darker than I'd expected but very good. It was tough to watch at times but I felt it gave a more realistic view of India than many movies I'd seen. Not that most or all of India lives like that but unfortunately it's there. I also enjoyed the shots of the markets, rickshaws, temples and British-inspired buildings in downtown Mumbai... really captured the place.
Take care, runfolk :)

Meg: I have no idea what a 5.10 route is. I'm glad you're feeling better. I would keep the appointment just to make sure everything is okay. Better safe than sorry.
oceanjasper: Your race sounds fabulous. I would love to find something like that in my neck of the woods.
Robyn1007: Your runs seem to be making great progress. Your Boot Camp sounds like fun. I had a friend who attempted a boot camp but she couldn't handle it and dropped out. It takes a lot of self determination which it sounds like you have.
SusanMac: I have always wanted to join a running group but have had a hard time finding one that works in with my schedule.
Natasha: Wow that's cold. I wouldn't make it. 8 miles in that kind of weather. Nope, not going to happen.
Les: I didn't catch whether Boston was for work or pleasure, but either way I hope you are enjoying your trip.
Kathy B: Do you weight train before or after your run? I really need to add strength training to my routine.
Thank you all for your welcomes and advice. I am happy to say that I am back into my running routine and going full speed. My days are so much better if I've gotten a run in. It truly lifts my moods.

Les - It truly is gorgeous over there. I am lucky to have family living in that area, so I get to escape there quite often.
1MegMeg - Thanks for another vote of confidence! I am doing the race with a bunch of great gals, so I think it will be a lot of fun.
Kathy B - We haven't decided what to wear yet, but there are some thoughts being tossed around. The race is in mid June, but really it could be mid July and the weather wouldn't be much different. It doesn't get very warm over there and, when it does get warm, it gets foggy. I checked the average temps and it says min 47 F and max 61 F. Since it is technically a rainforest, I would bet my money on rain! :)
SusanMac - Thanks for your suggestions and for the name of that website! That is a good idea about entering a race beforehand, so I know how it feels. It looks like I might be getting the last leg of the relay (9.2 km of rolling hills and the glory of the finish line), but that could change. I don't think I will mind running beside people who are on their last leg of a full marathon. :)
Natasha - You should definitely come and check it out! It is a wonderful place to visit if you have a love for the outdoors.
sunnyshine - Thanks! I never realized that this race had the relay event, so you never know what you mind find where you are. Otherwise, you might have to join Natasha and come on over! Do we see a CLBB relay team in the future? :)

Okay, I had a dream about running last night… ;) Could I be missing it a bit??? :p
I wish that I could report a real run, but the weather simply is not cooperating. I can’t remember ever being so sick and tired of cold and snow—and it is only the end of January! Good grief…
Anyway, DH moved an extra tv to the room where the EB is located, and that is helping to vary the routine a bit. Music one day, retro-television the next. *sigh*
Meg, I also think that you should keep the doctor appointment, just to “make sure”. It’s good that you’re feeling so much better as to be climbing and biking, though.
KathyB, you must have a whole lotta discipline. :) You do enough in a day to fill two or three of mine… I am envious. Heck, if I were you, I'd have my center hallway wallpapered already!
Nat, running in 8 degrees… wow… but I suppose that living in Canada predisposes you to cold weather??? ;) I don’t care to run when it gets below the mid-20’s (I'm a weenie...).
Les, have a safe trip to and from Boston. And I just remembered, I dreamt that I was running in Boston! Except that it wasn’t really Boston (unless they’ve developed a boardwalk and beach since I was there last summer).
Susan, a marathon house-cleaning day certainly counts as a workout to me!
Robyn, that boot camp sounds… like boot camp! Yikes. I’m afraid that I would have been crouched in a corner, whining, after the first 10 minutes.
oceanjasper, that relay race really does sound fun (especially the location it will be in).
sunnyshine, I agree that there’s nothing better than a run to lift my mood!
Oh and I should add that we were at the lake house over the weekend and I had hoped for a run but since our access roads are secondary (more like “third-ary”!) they were mostly snow-covered and a little treacherous looking. We discovered that our water line (which runs down to the house from a catchbasin up the mountain) had frozen, so Jack said we should get in some aerobics by climbing up there to check it out. I wore my hr monitor, just to see if it would really qualify as aerobics, and it did! 26 minutes, 139 bpm! Although I didn’t remember to turn the monitor on during the descent, I still considered it my exercise for that day. :D
Have a good week, all!

I'm another one that doesn't like things on my face when I run and it's often hard to get me to wear a hat although when it's near single digits I can be coaxed into wearing one. I think the only time I wear something on my face is when I'm riding and it's below freezing (it's really easy to get terribly windburned then).
sunnyshine - I'm in Boston more or less for pleasure. Long story but I'm up visiting a Monastery in Cambridge for a retreat before starting classes on Monday - I'm not sure whether that's business or pleasure. :p
oceanjasper - Oh, unless you really want to have a CLBB relay team don't say that too loud. A few years ago a bunch of us met in Cincinnati for the Flying Pig races as a VRB IRL event and had a blast (Susan, Nat and her hubby, Bethany, and LW and me). We've been toying with finding an event we can run in sometime either this summer (not too likely) or next summer (more likely).
Meg - I'm glad that you leg is feeling better but I'd also fall in line with I hope you kept your doctor's appointment since you've been having issues for a while with you leg.
Vicci - I'm seeing a little of your weather (and saw a bunch of it yesterday) this trip. It was good coming up yesterday but it may not be so nice tomorrow. Boston is calling for Heavy Snow tomorrow. Good exercise events for you.
A shout out to the rest of the gang: Nat, Susan, Kathy B, and Meg. I probably won't run today or tomorrow although it would be a lot of fun with all the snow up here (there's about 2-3 feet in drifts piled on the sides of the road and plenty on the sidewalks). Getting ready to head in to Cambridge so I'll check back a little later.
Happy trails,
Les

Good morning everyone! Thank you all for the nice thoughts about my leg (which I have lovingly renamed the cankle, because that's what it looks like! :p). I apologize, I do not have time for individual replies right now (work is a Murphy's Law kind of day today!), but wanted to give a quick update.
I saw my orthopod this morning and thankfully, it's not a stress fracture, it's just tendonitis of the posterior tendon. Rest, Ice, exercises to stretch and strengthen the lower leg area, heel inserts. He said it is fine for me to run my 5K race this Saturday, it won't make the injury worse, but I will probably be in pain afterward. I am not going to run the rest of the week and make the race decision Friday night.
MegMeg - Here's to quick healing of the cankle. Glad it's not a fracture.
Les - Happy snowing. Stay warm (will that be possible?).
Vicci - A chilly hike to check out a frozen pipe? Now that's what I call cross-training. Here's hoping the weather cuts you some slack.
Sunnyshine - Sounds like we're in the same boat. I do much better when I fit in a workout. I don't know why I can't remember that when I'm in a no-workout slump.:confused:
KathyB - Good going on the weights and TM. I lower my standards sometimes too. ;)
Nat - I just saw Slumdog Millionaire myself. It was not at all what I'd expected (I had only heard that it was good, but no specifics about the story line). I found it very interesting.
Robyn - That boot camp would kick my booty. Sounds like you're really on a fitness roll. Good for you!
Hello to Oceanjasper, Susan, Aggie, and everyone else I missed.
Woke up to a burst pipe downstairs. Dh, my handy guy, is doing some investigating and about to tear into a wall to find out where it's coming from. We're having ds's birthday party here on Friday. I hope the place is back together by then. :D
I am happy to report the new TM is working out great. I did 35 minutes on it yesterday with walking stops in between. Since I'm just getting back into it, I'm taking it slow and easy. So far, so good. Did a yoga DVD this morning. I enjoyed the stretching, but the DVD itself is pretty boring.
Question: For those who do yoga at home, do you follow your own routine? Or do you work to a tape/dvd? I'm open to any recommendations.
Happy Tuesday all.

Oceanjasper - It's funny you say that about doing the last leg of your relay team. Last fall I ran a marathon which included many relay teams. DH didn't know about the relay teams & commented on how fresh & fast so many people looked sprinting to the finish! Yup, those were the relay people who had just run 10K :-) (the colored race bibs gave them away)
Les - enjoy the snowdrifts. Hopefully you can romp around a bit & enjoy the snow. Give a virtual wave to Seathyme while you're there. Hope she's doing OK these days....haven't heard from her in ages.
Got in a great 45-min run yesterday at the dog park. The snow was perfect - packed down well, but not icy. It was slow & hilly, but felt great to be out in the fresh air. Today I'm planning on an indoor bike spin.

TKay, glad you're enjoying the treadmill! Good luck with the burst pipe. I do yoga using a book, but it's sometimes hard to look at the book and do the poses, so I usually recruit DH's help :p I also ask him if I'm doing poses "right" (as shown in the book). It works out well and makes it more fun too. It's a lot easier than it was a year or two ago, and I do more on my own now than I used to because I'm more familiar with the poses. I did a class once but it wasn't for me.
Yes, Slumdog was different, wasn't it?
Oceanjasper, as Les mentioned we bandy around the idea of another VRB event every now and then, including doing a longer relay. I may be up for one next year, if it's in the cards :)
Meg, awesome news! Enjoy the race and please take it easy!
Vicci, nice to hear from you :)
I wonder how Carrie is doing in douce France?
I had a good spin last night and some yoga, and this morning did core. It's a gloriously sunny day here and I'm loving the sunshine streaming through the office windows. I think I'll nip out for a quick walk while I can.
Hi to Julie, ktg, Eva, Robyn, Susan, and the rest of the gang.

Glad to hear the leg is nothing serious, Meg, although if it looks like a cankle I guess it might be bad...what is a cankle? Hope things are OK for you to run this weekend!
Tkay, you have a better attitude than I would have over a burst pipe if you are posting :Ds! Hopefully the cleanup won't be too awful. What a drag!
Vicci, climbing up to check out the water line sounds like a workout to me! As to your center hallway, I tried to take some wallpaper off our bathroom once....it turned into a major disaster requiring professional intervention. I wish I had even an ounce of your home maintenace and upkeep skills!
Just got home from a long morning in class at work (mandatory education). I did yoga before I went in, and I am hoping to get a little time on the EB before DD's swim meet this afternoon. Her meet is at the CC, and so is the EB, so things look promising. I have to throw something together for dinner before I leave, so that's it for now. Keep up the good work, all! :)
1MegMeg

Tkay - When I do yoga at home I follow my own routine. I either just make it up, follow one of the sequences in my Hatha Yoga Illustrated (http://www.amazon.com/Hatha-Yoga-Illustrated-Martin-Kirk/dp/0736062033/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1233089084&sr=8-1) book, or do a sequence in the yoga journal magazine (I subscribe). I have also done DVDs and the Namaste show on FitTV.
Susan - Ahhh, a run in the snow sounds wonderful!
Nat - I am definitely taking it easy! I know tendinitis is nothing to make light of, but I am really happy it's not a stress fracture and am going to take some time to rest, do non/low impact activities, and do strengthening exercises.
Kathy - Hehe, when my friend was pregnant last spring we ankles swelled up and she said she had "cankles" - calf and ankle all in one. :p That's kind of what my ankle looks like because the posterior tendon is right behind the ankle bone. I feel for you about work classes, they are never any fun! It's so cool that you are a nurse. I keep saying I am going to go back for nursing, but just haven't worked out the logistics of making it happen.
Hi to Vicci, Les, Eva, Carrie, Robyn, Julie, and everyone!
I don't post here much because I don't follow a regular training plan anymore. I just do what my body feels up to doing on a daily basis. I don't go in races anymore because for me it always means competition and I just can't go and have fun. :o I can no longer come anywhere close to my own high expectations; the perils of once being a top athlete I think. (though I was a sprinter not a long distance runner).
I do enjoy reading what y'all are up to though and am amazed and inspired by the mileage you put it.
oceanjasper-do they still hold the Snow to Surf relay up there?I ran on that three years in a row. It is a race from the top of the ski hill right ending in the harbour. People run, bike and row.
My leg was about 5 miles straight down the mountain. I could not walk downstairs for days after and I actually think doing that race damaged my knees permanently. :(
I also went in the Canada day 5 mile race in Courtenay. The first year I went in it (for fun supposedly) I had not run farther than 3 miles in training. My youngest was about 18 months old. I started off jogging with a friend but as usual my racing instincts took over and I endd up gradually making my way to the front. I took over the lead with 2.5 miles to go and killed myself to stay there!
I won and beat many of the top female runners on the island. They kept coming over as a I heaved and staggered around asking who was and where was I from! I couldn't talk so DH had to tell them I was from around there. They asked if I was going to be on the circuit now.I completely and utterly exhausted myself and vowed I would never do a race or fun run again. And I haven't!
Anyway I have very fond memories of running in your neck of the woods. :)

Quick drive by....zooom......great bike spin & weights yesterday, followed by a chilly but solid 4 mile run today. Almost blew off both workouts, but made myself do it. Discipline here I come!
Oh, and I LOVE my SpiBelt. MegMeg is right about wearing it low on your hips. But, I carried a cell & my chunky housekeys tonight as a test. It was dusk, so I clipped on a blinky light, too. Worked great!

oceanjasper-do they still hold the Snow to Surf relay up there?I ran on that three years in a row. It is a race from the top of the ski hill right ending in the harbour. People run, bike and row.
My leg was about 5 miles straight down the mountain. I could not walk downstairs for days after and I actually think doing that race damaged my knees permanently. :(
They sure do. Now it has downhill and cross country skiing, running, mountain and road biking, kayaking, and canoeing. I have been it the past few years, but I always do the cross country skiing leg. Smart enough not to do the running legs. :)

Weights and 30 min on the EB (not too strenuously, I might add), then I came home and went back to bed for an hour.
Work was exhausting yesterday, hopital is completely full and still patients just kept coming. I was ready to go home at 5:30, but my shift didn't end until 7:30! The only reason I got up early today was to take DD to school (DS is OOT). I felt much better after my morning nap!
Sunnyshine, I usually do weights first and then cardio. I have always thought I wouldn't have the energy for weights after a run on the TM or whatever, but I read somewhere recently that it is actually better for you to do it in that order anyway. Can't remember the rationale, but I am sure it has to do with warming up and metabolism, etc....
Kima, nice to have you pop in!

Late drop in (not too late but late for me after this week).
Sorry you had to take a nap today Kathy B but somedays it's a necessity. Glad it was refreshing for you. Sorry work was so busy - I know how those days go when every bed in the unit is full and they are overflowing into the adjoining unit - chin up. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day for you.
Kima - There is at least one other here (me) who can't hoof it like I used to (there are no more 3:20 marathons in my life) and we'd love to see you here more often - I, for one, have a lot more fun running in races when I'm not going fullout anymore. I see a different kind of scenery when I'm doing races, I think it's better these days (when I race).
Meg - Sorry about your tendonitis but it sounds like you caught it early and you're playing it smart to let it rest.
Susan - Didn't get to see seathyme (I tried but she was out of town in NY). Still waved as I went by. I missed romping in the drifts though (more later).
A shout out to the rest of the gang - Nat, Julie, ktg (hope France is grand), TKay, Vicci (hunting for water pipes is definitely working out), oceanjasper, and everyone else.
I had a great trip but decided to bail out of Boston later Tuesday afternoon - which was a bummer because my cousin had marinated flank steak overnight with herbs and garlic) :( but it was more prudent to get out of town before the snow started on Wednesday morning because I think I'd still be there. I made the best of it and stopped to meed a CLBB buddy IRL in southern CT. Almost got stuck in the snow (my Civic ended up resting on the undercarriage a couple times  ) and then stopped part way home last night and caught up with a friend who graduated from Seminary last year and is the head minister at a church in eastern NJ (Bordentown). A great time catching up and dinner was grand, capellini marinara with HUGE slices of garlic and other fresh veggies.
Really easy trip home today - got home a little after noon. Paid part of my tuition so I'll be ready to go on Monday, spun this evening for an hour and am settling in for the evening.
Hope everyone else has a good weekend and is staying warm.
Happy trails,
Les
