Although I've read CL for several years, this is my first time to the website and bulletin board. I've enjoyed reading some of the topics.

I am dedicating some time to improving my cooking skills and many recipes call for a food processor. Does anyone have any recommendations or criteria that I should use when shopping? I'm not a sophisticated cook, and usually I'm only cooking for two (but as my skills improve, I may entertain more).

thanks!
JD

Forgive me, I'm a rookie. I just discovered that this question was asked and responded to in July. Sounds like a food processor is not what I need right now, but I do need to replace my blender. Any recommendations for that?
Cheers!

It's interesting that the survey on the main CL site is about kitchen appliances. We recently bought a Kitchen Aid blender and I really like it. It also looks good on the shelf with the Kitchen Aid food processor. Anyway, it does a great job. I think it was rated in Consumer Reports. That's always a good resource. Hope this helps.

The kitchen Aid blender rates highly & the Cuisinart too. They are @ $99.00 on sale and different colors. I have the Oster blender (glass jar)it has several option bottons and I am happy with it. Before investing think if you want all your appliances one brand or how much you will use it, how much you want to spend etc. Always check your local stores since they have appliance sales after summer.
