Hi, just found this message board and I am looking forward to getting to know more of you! I am a mother of three boys, the ages are 12, 11, 11 (yes, I have twins) .

The summer is almost over so my life is going to become more hectic. I work at my boys school, in the office. I am excited when I found this board. I hope I can learn about Fast, Healthy and Quick recipes that my DH and boys will love. After working all day standing in front of the stove is not my idea of fun.

I am always looking for recipes that can be cooked ahead of time and frozen or slow cooker recipes. I have heard of people making and freezing dinners for the whole month, but I don't know if I up to that yet.

Again, can't wait to get to know more of you.

Hi vstowe!

Welcome, but watch out. These boards are addicting! :D

Soon you too, after lurking for a while, will have learned the delights of Kashi Go Lean, Pirate's Booty, Chocolate Stuff, Nutella, Chipotle peppers, Jewel's Cheesy Chicken Chowder and Soymilk.

Not to worry, it all tastes great!

Welcome aboard! I've been coming here since early Spring, and I love coming here. People here are very helpful and genuinely real, compared to another board (non cooking related) I visit from time to time.

I can't resist adding another, more serious note. One of the things I like best about these boards is the way people here will gladly share the recipes and information they have, whatever the subject.

I've learned a LOT from the responses people have given, about food, cooking, life and living.
Stick around, you'll like it!

I lurk a lot, since searching older threads always turns up so much useful information.

Hi! I'm new to the message boards as well. I read about them in my last issue of CL and decided to check it out...I've been reading for over two hours now, registered, and am now posting my second message. The BB's are great! I too look forward to getting to know more of you...it seems there have been some wonderful friendships formed.

Welcome, SpecialK and Vstowe. I hope you enjoy your stay.

As you can see, I joined a while ago, but have been more or less lurking until recently. I probably should have introduced myself, as you did, but it's a little late now.

Just a hint: be prepared to cut and paste recipes from this site!

Welcome Vstowe and SpecialK. Thanks for posting an introduction. It is nice to get to know people on the boards.

This is a really great community of CL fans. They are helpful, enthusiastic, encouraging, and just a heap of fun. :)

Hi Vstowe and welcome and Specialk! This is a great place and everyone is so very nice. Vstowe, Beth Y would probably be interested in talking with you! She's going to have twins. We have lots of pregnancy threads on the healthy living board- I was on there myself just a few months ago.

This BB is so much more than just an exchange of recipes and healthful advice- it really is a place where friendships are made. Oh, and hey, can I brag for a second? If you look in the Sept 2001 issue of CL, it says that one of the posters on the BB wrote that the BB is like sitting around the table with old friends- that was me!! I said that!! But it really is true. Pull up a chair!

As long this thread was bumped, I may as well introduce myself.
I have been a Cooking Light subscriber for about 4 years now. Last year when the article about Cooking clubs was in the magazine I came to the boards and got in a wonderful group in So. California. We have now been meeting for over a year, one of our members has had a baby and another is pregnant. It is a great group and we get along wonderfully.

I have 3 children, ages 14, 10 and 7. I volunteer at school and am a brownie leader for my youngest daughter. I love to cook but don't always get rave reviews from the picky children in the family. My wonderful husband will eat just about anything I make and he always likes it.

I must say this BB is very busy and I am having a hard time figuring out what I've read and haven't read. Any suggestions on that?

Oh yeah, can someone tell me where to find out what the little envelopes mean in the first column of the new post page.
TIA

WARNING WARNING WARNING

This site is very addicting.

It's been my experience that sine becoming a member of this BB, I cook alot more. Whereas I USED TO read the magazine, plan on trying things, but then put it away, never to return....Now I cook at least 5-6 recipes a month just from the magazine. Then there are always the BB members recipes to try. And this is all after working 50 hour weeks at work, and commuting 45 minutes each way for work. My DH (dear husband) is thrilled that I make some many new things (instead of chicken breats with spices on a daily basis, like before).

Soon you guys will find yourselves wondering what the BB members are doing over weekend, and start thinking about them when you're on vacation.

Once again, welcome.

V -welcome welcome welcome. Now, that you are here, I need you to go to my "I'm pregnant with twins" post and give me advice on how I am going to survive the first year. Or have you blocked in out of your memory, like labor?! At least, you are an indicator that, I too will survive this!

Good to have you here!

Welcome to all the new members! We're working on some kind of 12-step program to help with BB Addiction, and hopefully by the time all of you get into trouble, we'll be ready with the coffee and cigarettes!! :p

Hey Jewel who wants a 12 step program?? I like my addiction!! But if you know of one for coffee give me a shout!!
The BB addiction has got to be the healthiest one around- it is all about eating well and keeping fit right? And a little comaraderie doesn't hurt!!:)

Well I may as well bump too.:D
As many know I have three children, 3,2, and 5 mos. busy is an understatement. I have subscribed to CL for 3 years and cooking is one of three passions. One of these days I am going to go to a real cooking school (my dream) and open a restaraunt. I currently live near Lake Tahoe, CA, but in something like 72 hours I will live in Redding, CA. Is there a supper club I can crash. I have recently acquired an addiction to Pirate's Booty and its cousin Fruit Booty. Not to mention having to visit this BB every night. And yes, everything you have heard about these people is true; they are helpful, and hysterically entertaining..
Oh, and I love riddles. You will constantly see a new "signature" riddle on my posts. Welcome.

Tamara

Wow Tamara, you certainly are busy! I'm wondering how you find time to cook, much less visit the BB's. Good luck with the move.
