OK...any of you know where I can order valances for tall skinny windows? I already have blackout shades but want some kind of decorative valance or covering(perhaps in a "v" shape with a tassle)to give two windows that flank a fireplace some personality and color.
Thanks!
Christine

You might want to try the Country Curtains website www.countrycurtains.com
They have a huge selection of all types of curtains, valances and rods.

Also try Domestications - they might have something. Or Smith and Noble.

I second Smith and Noble. I've had good customer service from a person named JoAnn. If you can do the measurements yourself, I'd advise that, as I wasn't too impressed with the service I hired through S&N.

I have been very pleased with the things I've ordered from Country Curtains (although I haven't tried the other companies mentioned here). They have a nice selection of patterns and styles, and also sell the decorative pins and tassels.

We ordered our vertical blind for our slider window from these people at American Blind and Wallpaper Factory, but their site is now Decorate Today or some such...good company with good prices, but you'd better know your exact measurements before ordering! http://www.decoratetoday.com/ We got $600 worth of blind and accessories for $285. :D
