I'm back from vacation.... had some serious problems logging in today. I tried this morning and gave up, but it worked OK this time.

We had a great trip with loads of new snow. too much new snow, actually, for good skiing. Way too deep, each step was almost up to my butt. we had to rotate lead often cause it was so difficult, and then of course the avalanche risk was sky high. but we did get two gorgeous sunny days and that made up for the difficulties. we were in the lake louise area between Jasper and Banff. so our ski mileage was not impressive but it was still worth it to us.

we drove all day saturday, sunday we split wood ( lots) for an upper body and core workout, and today I did bike and treadmill. I am so sore from that wood chopping I can hardly move. guess I should have stopped sooner.:o

Welcome back, Valerie! Sounds like you had a great trip. Wow!!!! Snow up to your butt -- that's some deep snow! Wood chopping has got to be the ultimate upper body workout - ouch!

Yesterday I did the step premix of Cardio & Weights then added the warm up and the step portions of the first two intervals of Imax 2. I love the Cardio & Weights step portion but it's just too short! If my legs weren't so sore from Saturday, I would have done the blasts from Imax 2 as well.

This morning I did STS disc #7. I had a great workout!!! Upped my weights on biceps and was very pleased at how I did. Really liked the workout - well, except for the 109 pushups (I didn't count them but read it somewhere else). BUT I even did better with the pushups and did some of them on my toes. I can tell I'm getting stronger! Yea!

This may not be the right place for this.... but I am having huge difficulties getting on the CL site to post. I can read but when I want to post it does not recognize me or my password. I have tried to contact a moderator( will try again) but that didn't work either. I could not access the kitchen table site .. the site where lots of people go to when the CL site is down... either. I have no idea if it's my computer, or my ISP or CL?
If anyone else gets on and can post, is this widespread? this morning nothing worked and this afternoon it seems normal.:confused:

Hmmm...I'm not sure what's wrong, Valerie. I'm not having any more trouble than usual (still have to log in twice sometimes). I've read that a few people have had computer problems but it doesn't seem that it was CL. Maybe someone else has more info.....

Do you have the option clicked to "remember me"? I haven't had any problems logging in - maybe it is because my browser (firefox) is set to remember me on this site?

Anyway, I just wanted to check in and say hi. I last worked out on Friday morning- ran a couple miles and walked a mile. I wasn't feel well (turns out I had strep throat) and we had the funeral for my grandma Saturday, so I haven't gotten anything else accomplished. I have given myself extra time to heal from the strep since my sinus surgery is scheduled for Thursday morning. I am working out tomorrow morning, but I will take it easy since I want to be well for Thurs.

If you don't hear any work out reports, it is cuz I am in a recliner with frozen peas on my face :)

Josie.. best of luck on the surgery & recovery. Hope all goes smoothly. Check back in ASAP and klet us know you're doing OK, frozen peas and all. Hope this takes care of the underlying issues.
re the cl site.. it would not recognize me or my pw and just erased them when I clicked on log in ...did not matter if "remember me" was checked. Seems to be OK today again. I have a link using the secure address and that would not access the CL site at all.

Stacy, you are just kicking butt! I'm impressed. 109 pushups in ANY form is brutal. I think you mentioned drillmax last week, and I was thinking I haven't done that in a while and it's time. this week I've done just routine cardio on bike, treadmill, and elliptical, and yesterday I did GS biceps. I'm still sore from the wood chopping but not my shoulders or arms. just lower back and over my ribs in front. we have garden work this morning but I plan on GS legs this afternoon while DH goes to a dental appt. I don't want to go too long without a leg workout, and kiing does nto work things the same way.

Josie -- I'll be thinking about you tomorrow morning! I hope this takes care of the issues. You certainly have had a very rough time lately and deserve a break.

Valerie -- Thanks for the kudos -- I'm so proud of myself :D I'm not sure how or why it's working now.....a couple of months ago I couldn't make 5 workouts/week but somehow I'm doing this STS rotation AND keeping up AND feeling great! Funny you bring up Drillmax....when I did it, I thought about you and that you hadn't mentioned it lately! In Cathe's rotation, Drillmax (the scrambled premix) was scheduled after a leg day and I thought wonderful -- she's not going to make us do KPC or some other killer cardio/leg workout right after (like she usually does!). I totally forgot how hard Drillmax is on the legs!!! She didn't do ME any favors, LOL! Enjoy GS Legs -- the leg workouts are still the hardest for me.

Glald your access issue seems to have resolved itself!

Today I did 3.2 miles with Cardio Coach #4. Felt pretty good and I really enjoyed it. I may turn into a runner yet!

First of all Josie - good luck tomorrow!!! I'll be thinking of you!!!

Stacy you DO kick butt!! You have every reason to feel proud of yourself! Keep it up!

Valerie - one day I will make it out to Banff!!! It sounds great! Re loggin in - I have to log in twice - pain in the butt.

I've been draggin lately - I think it's a combo of being very involved with jack's homework/projects (because I need to be right now:o) and monthly yucks. I did get to walk 4 miles on Sunday but b/c of the snow we didn't get to do 6! Monday - nothing, yesterday I did Power Half Hour and today I pushed myself to do Ultimate Cardio Blast. I just want to eat lately

did not work my plan yesterday. Ended up doing garden work all afternoon.. I got a project started and needed to finish before it rained. It involved plenty of leg work but somehow that's not the same as squats and lunges. so today I will abuse myself with GS legs. It's probably been too long since I last did legs so I'm expecting soreness. the wood chopping aches and pains were gone by yesterday though, and I'm pleased that my soreness was limited to a couple spots, not everywhere like in the past.

charisse, I've never actually been to Banff. The road (#1) we use intersects at Lake Louise and we've never gone very far south towards Banff. This time we headed south a ways to turn off toward Vermillion Pass, and traffic picks up considerably as you go south. Banff is a big resort-type city and we go for the hiking (or skiing) and scenery so we try to stay away from "big". the Icefields Parkway, from lake Louise to Jasper is amazing. probably the most scenic stretch of road I've ever been on, but the driving is easy. In the winter there's almost no one on it at all. we always do some hiking but I don't think the scenery gets better than it does right from the road.

Okay, count me in as one who is irritated with the sign in problem!

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone and to give a shout out to Josie that I hope all went well today.

I've been a big lazy yuck this week. In addition to TOM, I came down with some intestinal thing on Monday afternoon. Stomach pains, fever, nausea. Yeah, no fun. So I've done nothing since Monday. But I am feeling much better today, although I still really have no appetite, but do plan to do something tomorrow, no matter what.

You guys have all kicked butt this week, so kudos to you!

Again, didn't exactly work my plan! 20 min bike warm up, 25 on the treadmill and then Muscle Max. It's been a while since squats & lunges and it was a better choice. I'm a little bit sore today but not unpleasant. I think GS might have been worse so I'll try to do it this weekend. Drillmax for today.

Wish someone would get the sign in problem fixed. I seem to be doing OK now but that doesn't mean everyone else is.

Did STS #8 Back and triceps yesterday and Kick Max this morning. I skipped the standing leg drills because I'll be doing STS legs tomorrow and they include leg drills, too. I *know* I couldn't handle it two days in a row!

Charisse - Doesn't homework just stink??? It's such a battle somtimes. Kyle has had 4 book reports so far this year...I'm sure there are more to come, too. It feels like giving birth all over again! As much as I'd like to let him handle on his own, he's just not old enough to do that yet. Hope you're getting your grove back!

Sue -- Sorry to hear you've been under the weather!

Valerie -- I completely agree that Muscle Max was a good choice! A little sore is perfect. There's always next week for GS Legs. Enjoy Drillmax!!!

Happy Friday, everyone!

Chiming in at the end of a long, long week. I think my reports are going to be the same for awhile -- lots of upper body working out. :D Got DH's wheelchair Tuesday, and every morning since, I've been hauling the wheelchair down one flight of stairs, pushing DH almost a mile to the train, carrying the wheelchair up a flight of stairs to the train's platform, wheeling him up to his office, and then doing the reverse for the ride home. So a daily total would equal about 2 miles of pushing, 2 flights carrying up, 2 flights carrying down, and 2 very sore arms! And I didn't think it would be that hard to push a wheelchair -- umm... DH is a big guy at almost 6 feet and about 210 pounds. The wheelchair itself is 50 pounds, so, you do the math. ;) :p

I'm also doing home exercises with Shane to encourage leg movement -- leg lifts (50 each side) and to show off, I'll hold 3 planks each for 1 minute. I do this while Shane sits at the edge of the bed and lets his knee fall naturally. It's good to keep him company and to show off how he'll start to naturally move once his leg fully heals.

Josie hope the frozen peas are doing their job.

Valerie I already miss winter sporting and I'm counting down the days until the next season starts. My last snowshoe jaunt had me knee deep in snow which made for a hard trail to break. Will you have anymore time to ski before the snow is gone?

Wow, Emilee that is a lot of pushing and lifting! I suppose there's a reason why you aren't driving him, like parking is such a hassle that it's better to walk/push? that's quite the workout though! I'm not very wheelchair savvy.. but I thought the person in the chair pushed the wheels at least part of the time. He's not conning you, is he?? :D But I would never stand in the way of a good workout.

We have loads of mountains out here and if one is ambitious you can ski all year although it gets more difficult in late summer. have to hike in carrying skis and then need to be a good skier as it becomes "glacier and permanent snowfield" skiing, and I'm not that good... it's more ski mountaineering. but thru june most years it's easy to find enough snow for even average skiers. Last year was a very heavy year, this year so far not as much.

Well, I've been quite the mouth this week so I'll shut up... hope everyone has a great weekend and has no sign in issues next week.

Shane and I both work downtown, and it's a PITA to drive, park, and still have to wheel Shane up to his office. It sounds like a hassle to have to wheel him to the train, but in the grand scheme of things, it's much easier. And I use it as my workout excuse. ;)

And Shane does help push the wheelchair with his hands, but the sidewalks are so uneven in so many places that it's best that I do most of the pushing and steering or else we wouldn't get anywhere anytime soon.

And I can't imagine living anywhere where one could ski well into June. Pretty awesome. Although last year I remember we were still wearing wool sweaters on Memorial Day weekend.

Here's to a new week of working out (and Valerie, you're not talking too much! :))!
