Happy Friday, runners! It's a glorious day here, and I logged a great run last night, so thought I'd kick off the week.
Last night was my Fleet Feet group run. It hit 60 yesterday, so a lot of people broke out the shorts. At night it was a touch cooler & perfect weather for a run. 5.4 miles on a new route that I really liked. Part of it hugged the lake, and snaked through some nice neighborhoods. I started w/2 people, broke off from them & connected with 3 girls who were really fun & chatty the whole time. I don't talk much when I run, but it was really fun listening to their fun stories. I'm happy w/my pace, too, although it wasn't a tempo run like some FF nights. The group was really large, too, so those of us who have been braving the 0 temps had to tease the other fair-weather runners a bit!
I had made dinner earlier in the day b4 I left, so it was wonderful to come home & have a great meal with little effort :-)
Les - Glad to hear it's Ultimate season again! I've been itching to do some baking myself lately. Maybe this will be the weekend
Any fun weekend plans for anyone?

Good morning runners! Work has been super busy (people are out so we are having to cover) so I've been MIA the past couple of weeks.
Tomorrow morning my BF, my friend, and I are running a St. Patrick's Day 5K. It should be fun. It's sponsored by a local Irish Pub and we get a free pint afterward. :p
Susan - Glad you had a good run with your group last night! The route sounds beautiful.

Slightly under 3 miles for me today, plus weights at the CC. The extended forecast makes me think I am going to be outside a lot more now. I am one of the "fair weather runners" Susan!
Good luck on your 5K tomorrow, Meg! Sounds like fun (of course, 5K's usually sound like fun, don't they?). Good to hear from you!
Ultimate in the mud....is that like mud volleyball? I am probably a fair weather ultimate player, too.....
No major plans for us this weekend, but lots of small stuff to take care of. Plus DS and I will be working on his scholarship applications some more....there are a lot of them with March/April deadlines, so we are really buckling down right now.

But to remember, I'm a 5-year old boy at heart. Mud is a beautiful thing and almost anything in the mud is divine.
To Hindu class I go...

Awesome 5-mile tempo run with DH yesterday. The weather was stellar, and most of Madison was out either running or cycling! One of the reasons I love springtime.
Today is a rest day, which is convenient b/c it's rainy & yucky. Tomorrow is supposed to be long-run day with the Fleet Feet team, but we're expecting rain & ice in the a.m., so I'll have to play it by ear.
MegMeg - Good luck in your 5K this weekend!! Be sure to check in with a race report.

Kathy, good luck with DS' scholarship applications! Nice job on the workouts.
Susan, good going on that run! Sounds like fun.
Les, the mud only makes it MORE fun, right? ;) You would have enjoyed the walk I took with the pup through the woods the other day. My shoes were absolutely caked with mud, and he kept choosing the muddiest places to walk through. He doesn't like puddles, but doesn't seem to mind mud!
Meg, how was the race? Was the post-race beer green? ;)
We are back from our cruise. What an incredible time. I would definitely cruise again. Lots of neat folks to meet, fun activities, delicious and abundant food, breakfast and lazy afternoons on the balcony, a port of call or two to visit... what's not to like? Actually, one of the few things I didn't care for was the exercise equipment but we still managed to do quite a few workouts in the fitness centre, and get a lot of exercise generally. I need a massage, though - thank goodness I have one scheduled for tomorrow.
Take care, everyone!

Welcome back Nat, your cruise sounds like a blast. Mud = good. At least in my book. A massage on Sunday - don't think our therapist does Sunday work, but then I'm barely available for Sunday massages anyway.
Meg - Enjoy the race and hoist one for me. Hopefully the beer isn't green (never a fan of green beer).
Susan - Good run and I hope that the weather holds out for you to run tomorrow.
Speaking of baking I baked a couple loaves of bread today for the Dean (and President) of the Seminary and the Assistant Dean for Community Life. They're pretty wrapped up with the economic crisis and how if affects the students and staff - in fact the Dean has to cut the operating budget by $1.4 million (and the staff isn't that big). So the baking gnome (the Dean's a Brit) got out today and baked oatmeal raisin bread out of Bernard Clayton. Not bad bread but one of the loaves leaked molten sugar into the pan - not bad until I spilled "napalm" on the stove. Still, the bread looks grand.
Afterwards I took a long run (~1:50) and was a bit put out, it was 70+ when I left. Just the topper for the sinus and scratchy throat I've got. Need to hit the hay, it's a long and early morning tomorrow and the hour shift in clocks in the spring hurts.
Happy trails,
Les

I totally wimped out on my run this morning. The skies started spitting snow and I just didn't have the heart for a cold, mean run. We had a week of low 50s, until all turned to cold custard this morning.
So I made baked up a batch of barbeque lentils and made a pot of Moros y Cristianos and a veggie/bean stew instead. Mmm. Then Brendan and I, along with my Dad's SO, spent the day at the Seattle Kennel Club dog show. I return with such an ache in my heart for a dog. We miss our Lucy and in time we will find another canine soul or 3 to love.
I want to try for a run again tomorrow morning, but darn this time change- a bummer for early risers such as I. It will be dark until 7:30 again for the next couple of weeks.
But a couple of really good intervals and hill runs this week, along with some cross-training and yoga.
Natasha- so glad you had a wonderful time on the cruise!
Les I envy you your warm weather! The bread sounds gorgeous. I hear you on the budget cuts. I worked in higher education for many years and my former colleagues are struggling with decimated budgets.
Susan So glad to hear that spring has arrived in Madison. The Midwest seemed just hammered by winter this year- the end is in sight! Your Thursday evening run sounded heavenly.
Meg How was the 5k?! Brendan and I will miss the St Patrick's Day 5k this year- we've decided to save our pennies for a hopeful holiday in France so we're forgoing races this spring/summer. But St Paddy's Run has gotten huge in Seattle- last year's was 15,000 strong. It's so much fun...and yes, the postrace expo is crazy with green beer and energy bars
Kathy, Terri, OJ, seathyme, Eva, Robyn, Victoria, everyone- have a wonderful week! Robyn, here's an article from Friday's New York Times that made me think of you: Colorado's Back Country Ski Huts (http://travel.nytimes.com/2009/03/06/travel/escapes/06hut.html?scp=1&sq=back%20country%20skiiing%20colorado&st=cse)

Well, yesterday I was about 1/2 mile into my run when I suddenly remembered that DH and I had a 10 AM meeting with someone....it was about 9:30. I made a quick loop back to the house, getting in slightly over 1 mile. Woo hoo! Later in the afternoon, DD and I took the dogs for a nice long walk. Today, weights at the CC and early AM yoga.
Julie, welcome to my little VRB fair weather runners club! :D
Meg, where are you? We are all waiting to hear about your 5K. You didn't hoist too many green ones, did you? :p
Natasha, glad to hear your cruise met all your expectations and more! What a relaxing event that must be. Hope you enjoyed your massage, too.
Bread baking sounds good, Les. I was thinking about doing that myself this week.
Good job on your run, Susan!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Good morning everyone! Wow, it was kind of a crazy weekend. DBF was supposed to run the 5K too, but had to take our friend/roommate to the emergency department around 10:30 Friday night and didn't get home until 4:30am Saturday morning. He had salmonella food poisoning and was in the hospital until yesterday, but is doing much better now. It's a good thing my friend from work was also running, as I don't think I would have had the motivation to get up otherwise hehe!
The race was super fun! A bit hilly for FL, great weather, loved it! The course was actually 3.25 miles, not 3.1 and I still took 1 minute 45 seconds off my time from my last race. So I am really happy about that. Fortunately, the post-race beer was not green (Les, I am not a fan of green beer either)...it was actually pretty cool, we could pick anything that the Irish Pub had on draft, so I opted for Guinness. A delicious breakfast beer. :p
Kathy - I bet you are up doing yoga right now! Nice three mile run on Friday!
Julie - Your Saturday sounds wonderful...good food, good company with family and loved ones, and the dog show! I've never been to a dog show, but I love to watch then on TV. How' the morning running going with the time change? Me, I want to crawl under my desk and go to sleep hehe.
Les - Nice on the long run despite the high temps! And your breads sound fantastic.
Nat - Your cruise sounds like fun! I've never been on one, but it totally sounds like my kind of vacation.
Susan - Did you get to do your long run yesterday?

Les, your Dean is Ian somebody, right? One of my friends in working on a PhD at Hartford Seminary and he is her advisor. She mentioned (a while ago) that he left Hartford and went to VTS and I told her that one of my VRBs goes there.
Meg, sorry to hear about your roommate's food poisoning. I'm glad the race went well and you enjoyed your breakfast beer.
Kathy, that is funny about the aborted run. At least you got to run a mile.
Julie, I agree that it is hard to go running when it's cold, especially after it's been warm. It's been in the 60s and 70s here and it is so nice for running. It will probably go back to normal soon (which will still be highs in the 50s) and then it will be harder to be motivated.
Natasha, what cruise line did you use? I went on a Carnival cruise last year (first cruise) and it was only okay. I don't know if it was the ship--only one pool, etc.--or the cruise line. Glad you had a great time!
Susan, did the weather prevent you from running yesterday?
With the nice weather here, I am getting back into the running routine. February was a disaster as far as running. I only ran 8 times in the whole month (and I can tell) and that was pretty much my only exercise, except walking through airports.
Hello to everyone else.

Happy Monday, runners!
Nat - your cruise sounds like fun! So glad it was even better than you both hoped.
KValley - would you mind sharing your BBQ lentil recipe? I need more ways to make lentils. DH & I are also saving pennies for an autumn trip to France. We've decided to take his Dad as a bday gift. Can't wait to surprise him with that this weekend!
Kathy - Your run story is hilarious! Ya know....if you run really, really fast 1 mile can be quite the workout ;-)
MegMeg - So sorry that DBF had to skip (what a crazy night!), but your race sounds fantastic! So glad you did well! Our Shamrock Shuffle is this coming Sun.
Les - I hear ya on budget cuts. I got notice on Fri that one of my clients has to end my contract at the end of the month. They are really fun, and I'll miss them a lot! But, as I told DH...it looks like I'll have time for more cycling this summer!!
I didn't get my LSD run in yesterday. We had cold, icy rain literally aaaaallll day long. It made for a fun day of reading & sewing, but not running. I got in a bike spin, core & weights instead. Today is nice & clear, so I'll run this afternoon. My schedule says 10 miles today. Gulp :-)
Good morning, VRBs. Finally getting to check in here. I've come here to post several times now and have been bumped. I wasn't motivated enough to keep trying or figure out what the problem was. In any case, it seems resolved today.
Susan - Have a good run today. I love a reading day.
Ktg - Enjoy getting back into the routine. I hope the weather cooperates.
Meg - The race sounds fun. Sorry about your friend's food poisoning.
KathyB - Funny about that run. Sounds like you made up for it.
KValley - The dog show sounds fun. I can totally understand how it would make you ache for a new pup (or three).
Les - Hope the scratchy throat is a false alarm and you're feeling healthy today.
Nat - Glad you enjoyed your cruise. I've only been on one and was seasick the whole time (stormy weather during my trip). Sounds like you avoided that altogether.
I've been consistent. Runs on the TM, walks with weights and some yoga. Oh, and the requisite dog outings and family bike rides. Today is another TM run. I've decided to keep my pace slow and go a little longer. My shins protested when I upped the speed, so maybe I need to build up some muscle endurance first? It's frustrating to go slower when my breathing can handle a quicker pace. I guess the whole body has to be okay with it.
Hello to all I missed. Here's to a great week.

TKay - Wow, you've been on a roll lately! Nice job.
I got my 10 miles in today, and it felt good! I guess I had built up more of a base than I expected, so that's a good confidence booster. It did confirm, though, that I really really need new shoes. They felt really flat. So, off to do some web research, since I want to change up my shoes again.

Les, your Dean is Ian somebody, right? One of my friends in working on a PhD at Hartford Seminary and he is her advisor. She mentioned (a while ago) that he left Hartford and went to VTS and I told her that one of my VRBs goes there.
That's him, Ian Markham who came from Hartford. I'd be interested in hearing about your friend (off thread) and what she's working on. Reason being, we just had a young lady come down from Hartford to study with us for a semester (I think).
With the nice weather here, I am getting back into the running routine. February was a disaster as far as running. I only ran 8 times in the whole month (and I can tell) and that was pretty much my only exercise, except walking through airports.
Hello to everyone else.
Sorry you had a bad running February - I fully understand not being able to get runs in too. Hopefully you get some more runs in, maybe we can turn over a new leaf together (virtually).
Meg - If I have to go with Irish Beer I think I'd take Guinness too. Great job on your run too - almost 2 minutes off your last time is great.
Susan - Sorry about the yucky weather yesterday and I hope that your run today went well. Sorry that your client also had to let you go - I guess it's that time all over.
TKay - I think the scratchy throat was a combination of allergies (love them) and some other junk that has been floating around because I'm pretty much back at it (until things really start blooming then... I'm dead).
Julie - Can't play the weather these days can we? Sounds like you had a productive day with your Dad and Brendan.
Kathy B - Funny story about the run... I've been there too.
Of note - there's something different about baking using the KA. Not quite the same although I'm not complaining - it's always neat to have a machine that will take on 8 cups of dry and ~2 cups of liquid without shrugging. Just not quite as tactile or engaging but still like the outcome. I've got to keep doing this, it's too fun to bake.
I had a day off yesterady, wiped out with the time change, the after effects of running (I'm officially out of long distance running shape thank you), and a tweaked (seriously) shoulder. I've got to get the shoulder figured out although it was the other side this time - it seems odd that sleeping does that these days. I spun this evening for about 30 minutes. not as long as I would ahve wanted but I was helping one of our parishioners with a High school project and had to scan some pictures of Arkansas into the computer.
See you all in the funnies, it needs to be a little earlier evening.
Happy trails,
Les

Les, hope you don't get sick! Last night I had goosebumps despite having four covers on top of me... hope I'm not catching something.
Kathy, that's funny but good thing you remembered before you were too far out!
ktg, so cool about you knowing of Les' Dean second (third?) hand. Small world! BTW, our cruise was done by Celebrity. We read the reviews, brochures, and a travel book beforehand and it sounded like just what we were looking for. They took great care of us and I would most definitely go with that cruise line again if the itinerary and timing suit.
TKay, good to hear you've been consistent!
I've actually never had green beer but it doesn't sound, well, natural ;)
Susan, reading days are awesome, aren't they?
Julie, I'm so sorry that going to the dog show was bittersweet. :( Dog shows are so neat, though... I love getting to see all the different breeds and to just see them being happy and exuberant (while being verrrry well-behaved).
The massage was amazing. Yoga night tonight... also much needed!

Hi All!
Sorry to have been AWOL for a few weeks, but things just got busy and there never seemed to be enough time to do "fun" computer stuff. Perhaps now that we are into daylight savings time... ?!?! ;)
Nat I was wondering about your cruise-- how wonderful and relaxing it must have been!
Les, hasn't the weather been great for the past few days? It actually gave me hope that spring may actually be coming soon. :) Can you send me some of that oatmeal raisin bead, please???
Susan, Tkay, Kathy, KathyB, Julie, Meg... you guys make me feel (yes, Nat and Les, too!) like such a slacker sometimes with all you do in your life and keeping up with your runs, etc. Well, maybe I should say that you all inspire me!
Remember the new shoes I bought in January? Well, I still had not worn them yet so when I saw the same pair in a local sporting goods store for $20 less I decided to return them and buy the others. Then I saw a pair on display that had a more aggressive tread for my trails, and it was $10 less! So I bought them (they fit just fine), and since they were $30 less than I had originally paid from Zappo's, I bought 2 pair. One for home, one for the lake house (and I'll swap them every 4 months or so to wear them evenly) and now I won't have the excuse that "I left my running shoes at home!". Now, if I can remember to take my HR monitor...
And I am now running hills. Big, bad hills! I guess that I needed the motivation of that woman passing me a few weeks ago. And I am taking Susan's advice-- if my friend can go with me, I'm signing up for a fun run at the end of April. 5k or 10k? I can run for about 45 minutes without problem, and this will be a flat course (perfect for my initial foray into "group running"!). Any ideas?
Back to work-stuff. I've been breaking in the new shoes the past 2 times I've gone out, keeping it to about 30 minutes (with no problems). Alas, where it was 74 when I ran on Saturday, it was 50 today. But I'll take that over the 22 it was last week at this time! :) Take care everyone and I hope to be back a little more regularly.

Susan Honey-Baked Lentils (http://www.recipezaar.com/Honey-Baked-Lentils-58598) I tried this a couple of weeks ago and loved it. The recipe I made this weekend was an old CL one, but truth be told, we really preferred the first version.
I can't believe you are heading to France in the autumn, as well! What are your destinations? We're planning on hiking between hill towns in the Luberon, with a few days in Avignon, Orange and Cote du Rhone...
Les Sounds like that shoulder really needs some attention!
Vicci So good to see you here again. Good on ya for attacking the hills! I'm thinking I'm due for a new pair of shoes, too. It's great that you were able to find the pair you wanted a such a great price.
Kathy SO, an unintended sprint workout, eh? Loved the visual :)
Meg Omigosh on your friend with salmonella. THat is so frightening. One of my co-workers was in the hospital for 2 days last week with food poisoning... But the race sounded like such fun. Congrats on your time!
Natasha I hope you are not still feeling under the weather. With the constant change in temperatures, it seems every other person I see is sniffling, coughing, suffering from a cold or allergies; 'tis the season!
Tkay Your workouts sound great- a lot of variety and terrific consistency. It's an inspiration!
I'm sitting here waiting for the nurse to call for my last pre-op discussion. I am so ready for the Alien to be gone! It's a constant pressure, most noticeable when I run or go for a "power walk" One week from today and I will be on the table. In a weird way, I'm actually looking forward to the time off - first vacation I've had in about 16 months :p I'm worried about the recovery time and how long it will be before I can return to gym, yoga, trail etc. It all depends on the extent of my surgery, which won't be known until I'm on the table..
In the meantime, I'm just trying to stay consistent and strong. It's supposed to warm up by the end of the week, so I look forward to an afternoon run on Thursday and a long bike ride with Brendan on Friday.
Hello to Eva, Robyn, ktg, OJ, Kathy! Have a great rest of the week, everyone.
KValley - I can imagine you must be anxious to be Alien-free and yet not pleased about having to recover. At least you're going into it in good shape. That will hasten recovery time.
Vicci - Good going on your bargain shoe-buying! Hmm...maybe you need two HR monitors? :p Congrats on the hills.
Nat - Massage one night and yoga the next? You'll be as relaxed as a wet noodle. ;) Enjoy.
Les - Take care of that shoulder. I hate when I wake up and I've somehow tweaked something in my sleep. Hope you're on the mend soon.
Susan - Great job on the 10 miles. I'm in need of new kicks too. Happy shopping.
Yoga today. I'm looking forward to some good stretches.
Hello to everyone I missed--Robyn, OceanJ, KathyB, Aggie, Meg, Ktg, et al.

Yoga and about 40 min on the TM yesterday, brisk walking, just didn't feel like anything more. Today was weights and 45 min easy run on the TM.
Julie, I can imagine that the waiting is hard and you just want to get on with things. Hang in there! I am sure the fact that you are fit will help tremendously in your recovery. I think you need a new method for taking vacations, though....;)
Vicci, good for you tackling those hills! I am not a fan, although I do run some around my area. I have been toying with the idea of training for a half, but the ones around here are VERY hilly. One is actually called the "Hospital Hill Run", and it is known for all the hills. Not exactly calling out to me.:o
Tkay and Natasha, hope you have a great yoga class today!!
Les, I got my KA a few years ago when someone on the BB posted about a sale at Amazon. Now I don't know how I ever managed without it. What a workhorse!
Way to go on your 10 miler, Susan!
Congratulations on your 5K, Meg, and on your new PR! That's great!!
Kathy, glad you are able to get outside again. Are you done with the airports for a while? The weather here has been fluctuating pretty wildly, so it's outside one day, TM the next. At least it adds a little variety to my workout schedule!
Working tomorrow, and getting ready to go skiing, so I am trying to get things caught up around here. Hope you are all having a great week!

OK -- I have a dilemma that I'm hoping my VRB friends can help solve.
This Sun is our annual Shamrock Shuffle 10K. Every year there are lots of people who really get into the spirit & dress for the holiday. I just picked up a headband w/bouncy shamrock antennae. there's no way these will stay on running for 1 minute, not to mention a 10K.
Any ideas for how to attach them to a hat or something that will make them stay on my head?? They are 2 springs, so I'm not sure how I could attach them to something else?
TIA
Leslie Ferguson
03-10-2009, 07:50 PM
Susan - do you have a visor? You might be able to attach the springy things to a visor, either with clips or (man speaking here) tape of some sort.
Not much going but I thought I'd share the comic that is so me: Non-sequitur from March 9 (http://www.gocomics.com/nonsequitur/2009/03/09/). Is there any doubt? :D
Happy trails,
Les
SusanMac
03-11-2009, 08:30 AM
Les - I just love Non Sequitor! Thx for the visor tip. I don't wear them but DH has several, so I will give it a try.
KValley - Just now realized that your post had a URL link to the lentil recipe. I will definitely try that soon! DH likes/tolerates lentils....but I want him to truly love them. That's my quest!
While I often take a recovery day after my long run, yesterday I was feeling good, so I decided on a bike spin. Sure enough, my legs were really dead. So, no tough drills. Just a nice easy spin, followed by core & weights. I'll rest today (and hopefully hit the LRS for new sneaks!)
VictoriaL
03-11-2009, 10:30 AM
Susan could you sew the plastic headband onto a wider, stretchy "full" headband?
Les our newspaper only carries Non Sequitir on Sundays, so thanks for the link to this one. "Mud Season" certainly is here! :D
KathyB, uh, "Hospital Hill Run"? Hmmm, I shall pass... ;)
TKay, yep, I was actually thinking about asking for a new HR for my bday and using the old one at the lake. Funny how I need double of everything since I can't remember to pack stuff any more!
Less than a week until Julie is rid of the Alien. :)
Off for a run, then to the grocery store (showering between, of course). Hope everyone is having a good week!
SusanMac
03-11-2009, 10:46 AM
Vicci - if it makes you feel better....showering is NOT required in between a run & grocery store. Library and Target are also on that list. Oh gosh, I hope I'm not alone in this!

Vicci - if it makes you feel better....showering is NOT required in between a run & grocery store. Library and Target are also on that list. Oh gosh, I hope I'm not alone in this!
It depends but normally not required. In the nasty summer it may be more essential but only to make myself feel better not for the store.
Hinduing I will go...
Les
Apparently, showering isn't required before visiting your ds's classroom either. I completely forgot it was my day to work in the first grader's room. My neighbor pointed out to me that I was indeed home and not at school. Yikes! Here I was, my non-showered self, getting ready for a run. Ah, well. I darted up to class anyway.
Les - Hilarious Non Sequitor about mud season. For Susan's springs, did you mean duct tape by chance? My brothers swear by it. :D
Susan - Sorry about the dead legs. Hopefully new kicks will put some spring back in your step. Good luck with the other springs too.
Vicci - Enjoy your run, shower and shopping (not necessarily in that order, of course).
KathyB - Sounds like you've had some good workouts. Good luck getting ready for your ski outing.
Way behind schedule today. Still holding out for a TM run. Cub Scout camping trip to Arrowhead this weekend. I feel odd even uttering this here, but we're hoping (and planning) for snow. I had to borrow boots and all the other gear. Should be interesting. At least we'll be sleeping in (crude) cabins.

Anything to do with mud. Well, I didn't want to use the "D" word but that was on my mind. :D

Enjoy Lake Arrowhead. I loved it there when I went in High School (not cub scouting but still). I hope you get snow too - it would be lovely in your neighborhood.
Quick check in - frustrated with a trip to the store to get scoots for Ultimate (need cleats). Anyway, the clerks in the store were so bad they just obliterated any energy I had. I really had planned on getting shoes, stopping by the store to pick up stuff for Lentil soup (been on my mind) and getting home in time to run a little. But no, by the time I was done I was completely brain fried. They didn't have cleats in my size in one pair I really wanted, they didn't know how the cleats ran for size (like running shoes or like dress shoes), took forever to come back and tell me they didn't have shoes in my size but didn't even offer a different size (I may have been able to take 1/2 size smaller). Needless to say - didn't cook lentil soup, :( didn't run, :( but did spin and ate Amy's Black Bean and Vegetable soup for dinner.
Now off to Systematic Theology for the evening (and maybe driving a spike through my thigh ;) ).

LOL about the showering! Yep, I would go to the grocery store (and other stores) after a run without showering.
Les, I'm sorry you had a frustrating trip to the store yesterday! I will PM you about my friend at Hartford. She wasn't the one who spent a semester at your school though.
Kathy, I don't have any trips planned until mid-April, at least for work. We are going to Wisconsin to see my family in the beginning of April. It's nice to have some time at home.
Natasha, thanks for the info on the cruise line. I will definitely check that one out if I decide to go on another cruise.
Julie, thanks for sharing the lentil recipe. I usually make the BBQ baked lentils from CL 4-5 yr ago so it will be nice to try another recipe.
Vicci, what a bargain shopper you are! It's satisfying, isn't it, getting a good deal?
Today is an off day after running the past 3 days. Monday and Tuesday were so nice....70s! Yesterday was okay, but cooler and cloudy. I hoping that it doesn't rain tomorrow and Saturday like they are predicting.
Have a good day, runners!

Well. Perhaps I should be reconsidering the 5k at the end of April... I thought that everyone looks like he** when they've finished running! Sheesh, I try to sneak past DH's office when I come in so he doesn't see me!

Weights this morning, then 25 minutes on a Treadclimber. First time I've tried that, and it wasn't too bad. I didn't go very fast (instructions said not to), but I felt like a got a decent workout. Nice for a change.
Lots of stuff to do, so a wave to all and hope your week is winding up nicely! :)

:) I probably look like he!! when I finish running too, but that doesn't stop me from going to the store and scaring all the other shoppers :) I love reading your posts because you have such a great writing style.
For some reason, I'm having trouble posting on this particular BB. I post on others, but keep getting booted off of this one.
Quick update for me. Got in 40 minutes on the TM yesterday. Planned a weight walk today but ran out of time. Doctor's appointment ran late and blah, blah, blah. Will make up for it tomorrow.
Hope you're all well.

I wouldn't sweat it - especially in the summer I look terrible (anyone who has run with me in the summer can attest [like Nat]). Look at it this way, you'll be among good company. :D
TKay - Sorry about the derailed day for you. Hopefully tomorrow goes better.
Weird day around here and I ended up doing a little Ultimate today (without cleats thank you). It was nice to get out for a while after the tumultuous day on campus: the dean talked about the layoffs and all - lots of hurt feelings and people questioning what is going on with our community (it is hard to have a very close community of less than 200 and then to lay off about 10% of them). Puts a weird spin on the day.
One paper down (due in a week) and one to go (due at the end of next week).
Writing to do so until later... happy trails (and happy new thread),
Les
