I feel a little silly doing so, but I'm just going to toss this out here because I don't know how else to go about things. ;)

I'm trying to understand how the kids threads run. We have a pregnancy thread, a new moms thread, there used to be a school aged group, and it seems like at one point there were 2-3 toddler threads.

I know that I for one really enjoy having a place to ask kid questions, read (and learn from) other peoples' experiences, and be able to offer my own thoughts (on the rare occasions that I feel like I have wisdom to offer  ). It seems like lately though the kids threads have fallen off and I wasn't sure if there was any interest in them, or if people were just tremendously busy and unable to post.

I could probably join a kids site and ask my questions, but that's just laziness on my part because I like this site and feel like I *know* people here. Don't want to move out of my current neighborhood, so to speak.

Is there any interest in an all-inclusive toddler group? Or revisiting the other groups? Or am I the only one?

Feel free to pm me and tell me to get a life and go find another board if need be. ;)

I am totally missing my school age group. I really don't want to join a new site. I already spend enough time here, I don't need to add another site to suck up my time :). I also really feel like the group that participated were my friends. I had been with them longer than most of my mom friends now.

Hi Leah and Cheryl! Well, I have *really* been missing both groups I'd been posting in, the school age and wobbler/toddler ones. I have a lot of interest in them, but sometimes find I'm too busy to post regularly. I suspect that's the case for some others, and some of the "old" regulars don't seem to be visiting this board anymore. :(

I think the toddler groups separated into different threads because of the concerns at different ages, for example 12-month-old issues vs 24-month, etc, but I am all for combining them into one thread if it means more people posting. And FWIW, I've checked out other boards and have not seen another group of people anywhere as wonderful as those on the CLBB so I don't want to go elsewhere. I can't describe how much I've learned from the pregnancy and mom threads here, dating back to before I was even a mom! They've been a fabulous resource many times, not to mention incredibly supportive. There's truly a great bunch of women here! (okay, some men too, but I'm talking just about the moms now ;) )

Let's see if there are more responses to your all-inclusive toddler thread idea. I've missed hearing how everyone's little ones are doing and we've had a lot going on that I want to talk about too! :D

I also miss our toddler group. I was just wondering what happened to our group. I don't want to go to another site because a lot of us have been there through all the threads and have watch the little ones grow up. I am interested in another toddler thread. I cannot promise that I will always post and always answer all the question- but I will sure try!!

I'm interested! With two toddlers in my house (Joey will be 3 in June and John-Paul is 19 mos) I always like toddler-talk.

I'm glad you brought that up, Leah. I was thinking the same thing, but was a little shy/hesitant to ever start a thread. Besides, there seemed to be so many, I didn't know what to call it.

I like the idea of an all-inclusive toddler thread (e.g., ages 1-3? When do you stop being a toddler?). Those moms who have older toddlers can pass on some wisdom to those of us with younger toddlers! (For instance, how DO you get that nasty smell out of your toddler's favorite teddy bear that's not machine-washable? :p. Seriously, it's across the table from me, and I can smell it.)

So we're thinking just an all inclusive toddler thread? I know we all know our little groups, but it may be nice to expand our circle of mom friends ;) , especially if people are so busy and can't post much. I always feel a little silly if I've posted and my post just hangs out there for a while before someone rescues me and says something. Is there such thing as a "pity post"? ;)

As for washing stuffed animals, um, I don't read tags. (oops) I just wash and dry them in a pillowcase. From what I've heard you can also do a "dry bath" with baking soda or talcum powder - you put it on the stuffed animal for about 20 minutes and then brush it off. Mine have always emerged from the washer and dryer more or less in good shape, but DS's don't really have any complicated parts to get broken or messed up.

count me in as one who thought all the little "break out" threads were getting a little out of control. with so many of the moms on this board with multiple kids of varying ages and so much experience, it is a shame to hole up into a little group and never hear all the view points.

in addition, it gets to be a pain to figure out which thread you are supposed to post on for which kid, etc.

why not have a pg thread, a baby thread, and a kid thread. (you decide when your kid changes from baby into a kid!)

and as for the stuffed animals, by all means, toss them in the gentle cycle. I do it all the time to animals that say "surface wash only." they come out fine.

LOVE this idea! I can't be around daily, but do enjoy these threads and learning from everyone else's wisdom & experience.

Great idea, I'm all for it. I think I should be able to manage posting on just one thread. ;)

I'm another one who throws all the stuffed animals in the washer. Never had a problem (well, okay, there was a cow once that I didn't realize mooed, which of course it never did again after being washed! :) )

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the unfortunate stuffed lion with the magnificent mane (much more magnificent in person) that I washed after a lice scare at daycare. That didn't go over so well. Lion hides in the corner now because he's got a very tight afro now. Oops.

Okay, who wants to start the new and improved all inclusive toddler thread? ;) Just kidding, I will.

ps Weird, my pics won't show up. Oh well. Picture cute lion. And then Willis on "Different Strokes."

I'm all for an all-inclusive toddler thread and expanding the circle o' moms!

Thanks for the advice on washing Nasty Bear! He's getting a bath tonight, before the smell of him makes me vomit! :D

Leah, I have a lion Halloween costume that has suffered the same afro-ization. Oops! I should mail it to you so you can have a matching set. :D
