Hi, everyone!! I think we all had to take a time-out last week. I tried a couple of time to post but never had any luck. Hopefully, things will be back to normal soon.
Happy Birthday, Valerie!!!!! :) Hope it's a great day! Did you get STS for your birthday? I'm having so much fun with it, I can't wait for you to start, too. If your DH is impressed with what you've accomplished so far, just wait. You will be stronger than ever. I pre-ordered Cathe's new Shock Cardio for my birthday. DH & DS were going to get me some new baking pans but were having trouble getting to Williams Sonoma (we're too cheap to pay their shipping charges). Then when I saw the Shock Cardio, I knew that would be even better. I told them they could still get me the pans, but I was going to pre-order anyway!! :D
Charisse - How's the walking coming?? Your half is pretty soon, isn't it? I hope the weather is being a little more cooperative.
Josie, Kay, Emilie, Canice, and anyone else I've missed - hope to "see" you guys soon!
Today I did the timesaver cardio premix from Body Max 2. I decided that I don't really like it. Most of the time Cathe starts the premixes at the beginning then builds up. This one just seems to be all over. It starts with things she hasn't taught yet so if you don't do it regularly, you're lost --- like I was this morning. Next time, I'll just make my own premix!

Yes stacy, I got STS! the WHOLE thing! Thank you for the birthday greeting, it's been a great day. I viewed the first disk today while doing treadmill and elliptical. Wow! guess I'm gonna like pushups one way or the other. It looks tough! But I'll just do what I can and then go to the knees.
I was wrestling with the 1 RM thing but haven't plugged anything into the workout sheet. I was surprised... I tried flys with 15 lbs thinking no way (I've been doing 12 #'s) and did 25 on the incline, and 20 flat. guess i I should have moved up before this! lateral raises I can only do 8#'s, just can't do 10 so I guess it'll be all over the place. Did you do the 1 RM thing or just best guess? I tried it for about 5 exercises and I'll see how it works but I'll start tomorrow. today was cardio.
I am NOT ordering anything else new now. I have enough to keep me busy for a while.... hope the shock cardio is good for you though.
I hope everyone is doing OK .... Josie, charisse, emilee, suek, canice, lake martin gal, and Testkitchen ... rejoin us when the BB settles down. gosh, the last two weeks have been erratic. sometimes no access , disappearing posts, all kinds of weirdness, and on and on. sure has been unpredictable.
There were some new voices last week too, but I forgot to look at their names before I started typing this. anyway, things aren't normal yet, but seem improved.

Hello, everyone!
Well, my workouts have been very erratic. DH and I are shooting for 3 days a week of working out w/ weights, but a slew of sick kids--and then me--plus the endless struggles with schedules, have really done us in. We've been very inconsistent. Unfortunately, the best time of day for him to work out (and he's my buddy and personal trainer) is 5:00, which as all you cooks and moms know is the WORST time for me, a SAHM who's responsible for dinner, to work out. Throw in kid-schedule craziness, and it's a real struggle.
Worked out today, though! Chest & shoulders.
I think I need to get in some cardio 3x/week, so that I can drop some pounds and achieve a workout even if DH and I can't get our schedules straight. I'm tall enough to "carry" some extra weight & still look pretty much OK, but I (secretly) know that I would look really, really good if I dropped 20-25 pounds. With having children & middle age & just life, my skinny wedding-era self has gotten a little more padding, and it's very disheartening to have that so tough to fight. :(
I know I'm getting gabby, but want to share this story. I ran into my friend at the gym last week (she usually works out at a different time, w/ a close friend of hers). She and I joined at the same time: Dec-Jan. She looks awesome, having lost 15 pounds!! Me, not so much. I thought I'd lost some, but it's baaaaaaaack. I spent the whole workout trying not to let DH know I was about to cry. Now is that hormonal, or what?? :o
Gotta keep on pluggin', I guess. And I do try to be thankful for my health. I was booming around the house at top speed today, cleaning & cooking, and I suddenly thought of that "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" I saw recently where the gal was born w/o legs & needed an entirely redone, accessible kitchen. So what am I b!tching about? ;)
Have a great week, all! :)

testkitchen... I think we have all been there at one time or another. I know the first time I weighed in after a couple months of working out with my PT, and I had gained weight, I really thought I was going to cry. And I didn't even realize it would upset me so much in advance. It can be rough at times for sure.
Speaking of which, I have gotten back into the groove of working out with my PT since my surgery but omg, it has been an uphill battle. It is absurd how quickly you lose muscle and strength if you are sedentary. I did plug along at the gym (uh, the first day back, let's just say all the physical activity made some of the scariest blood clots of all time come out of my nose!), and now I am feeling better about life. I did chest and back yesterday with 30 minutes of cardio - the first time I have been back to a "full workout" at the same time with weights and cardio together.
Anyway, I am glad the boards are back in working order - crossing fingers. Happy Birthday Valerie :) And thanks to you and Stacy for keeping up with posting despite the craziness of the clbb.

Yea!!!!! I'm in!!!! We're in!!!! Yea!!!!!:):):)
Happy Birthday Valerie!!!!:)
Yes, I've been walking!! Tues/Thursday I walk one loop which equals 3 1/2 miles then on Sunday's we've been doing two loops. This weekend we may try for 3 if time allows! Trying to do upper body workouts along with this! I'm getting excited about the half!
Ok so is anyone going to order STS Cardio?? I've been getting the emails on that.
Stacy and Valerie - you guys amaze me with the Cathe workouts!
Josie - so glad to hear you're getting back into the swing of things. I haven't been on in the last couple of weeks so I hope your sinus surgery went ok.
TK - hang in there girl. Keep plugging away at what you can do and what time will allow you to do. Can you do something cardio during the day without your hubby? Cardio is definately the key is you want to lose weight.
Doing the happy dance we're up and running again!!

So happy to see the boards are functional again! I didn't realize how much I'd miss them.
Josie, glad to hear you back! It is amazing how quickly all that fitness dwindles, isn't it?? you work hard for months and months and make gains and then it seems like you can lose it all in a long weekend! but surgery is really taxing on your entire body, and alot of energy goes into recovery. and the fitness comes back much faster than if it never was there, although it seems like a slog. well, actually more than "seems", it IS a slog!
TK, that's just how it is sometimes. we've all got times when other things take over. just get back into schedule as best as possible and stick with it. Maybe you can fit in some cardio separate from DH. I'd never get a workout in if I tried at 5:00! I hate the process of building back up so much that I'm fanatical about getting in a couple workouts even if they're abbreviated. 15 minutes helps keep the juices flowing. I also know how discouraging the no-weight loss issue can be. Hello? how many adult women do you know who aren't wrestling with it? at one time I weighed 15 pounds more than now. my goal is 10 less than currently. I keep working toward it but progress is slow. so, not perfect but not that bad either.
Charisse, I'm not ordering anything now , no matter what Cathe sends me.... STS is going to keep me very busy and I truly have enough cardio stuff to keep occupied. Keep up your walking, your half marathon will be walk in the park. Thanks for the birthday greeting too.

I meant to look at last weeks thread for the names of some new posters. hope we didn't lose you cause the boards were so crazy. It was discouraging to say the least.
welcome penny 1022, debwalkz, and Gabbyh.
You're welcome to check in with us. Everyone here does different things but this is a great way to get support and keep yourself honest, as well as get motivation on off days.
Hi ladies! It's good to be back on this thread now that the boards are working again.
I've been alternating between the treadmill and a couple Cathe step workouts. The DVDs I have of hers are not as intense as some of you have, but I have managed to be able to do them with my step to the highest setting, so there's that. :)
I've been working upper body with weights every other day. I think I might be seeing some definition in them. Yeah!
Valerie- hope you had a nice birthday and enjoy the STS!

I was able to loop one and half times around the park which is about equal to 5 miles - felt good. I also did the Upper body and ab section of Super Body Sculpt from the FIRM.
Sue - good job with your workouts!!;) I LOVE seeing my delts!!:D

Hi, Anyone here familiar with Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home program?? There is a new system Walk Your Way Thin coming out at Target this coming weekend that is fantastic. A good cardio/toning workout without leaving your home.
I recently was randomly selected to try out a few workouts from a new series of 6 workout kits that Leslie and Target are introducing at selected stores next month on April 5th. I am really excited about them. The series is called Walk Your Way Thin. The box came the other day and I couldn't wait to try them. The ones I was fortunate to try--Belly, Buns and Thighs, Walk off Even More weight with a new tool a weighted belt and a 3 Mile walk that uses Leslie's trademark Walk Belt.
The Walk Belt has been a favorite of mine for a long time but the new Weight belt is going to be a favorite of mine too I think. Belly Buns and Thighs is a great lower body and ab workout and comes with a toning tool that works the legs with heavy ankle weights. I can't wait until they are officially released to check out the other 3.

I hope I am not the only Leslie fan out there?
"Randomly selected"? Yeah; we were born yesterday. Sadly, reported as spam. And strangely similar to her post from a few weeks ago:
Hi, I am new to the boards but to not to Home exercise or Cooking Light.
Wondering if anyone else uses Leslie Sansone's Walk At Home workouts? I have been using her workouts for 3 years now. I have lost weight with them along with eating healthy with recipes from places like the Cooking Light magazine.

TK, I totally missed that last week. saw basically the same post today.
In all the excitement about getting the boards back and functional, I forgot to report exercise. I did yoga and Muscle Max on tuesday. Wed we planned to ski but the weather was miserable. March has been wretched. cold, wet, rain mixed with snow most of the day. we could have gone skiing I suppose, but the heart wasn't in it. so we split wood, was a decent upper body workout.
I was planning on starting STS today but am not sure if it's a good idea after yesterday. I'll think on it for a while and do some cardio instead. the weekend sounds like decent weather both days so that will be a ski and a bike ride most likely.

I did it.. disk 1 of STS. holy cow, it was tough. that is a whole lot of pushups. pushups variations I never imagined. it is also a lot of fast equipment changes and I wasn't sure about my weight level on many of the exercises. I printed the sheet but the print was too small to read in the light of the exercise room.
but its a surprise, kinda nice not knowing what's coming next. there were a bunch of moves I've never heard of before but I'm sure there will be repeats as the program progresses.
also did a segment of coremax and 15 bike and 15 treadmill. Have a great weekend everyone!
