Is it possible to cook Irish oatmeal which requires 30 minutes cooking time in a slow cooker?

atessaro,
I found this website called St. Patrick Day's Recipes and Tips, which has a recipe for Basic Porridge. The instructions say that porridge can be cooked in a slow cooker. I assume porridge is the same as Irish oatmeal since the recipe calls for Irish oatmeal. Anway, hope this helps....Here's the website: http://www.starchefs.com/Irish/breakfast.html
By the way....is Irish Oatmeal (or Porridge) tasty? How does it compare to regular oatmeal. My favorite oatmeal is Snoqualmie Falls brand oatmeal. To those of you that live in the Pacific Northwest---you know what I'm talking about!!

Thank you Kentgirl. That recipe using the slo cooker is perfect. I use John McCanns Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal and add 2 T chopped pecans and 2T white raisins while it is cooking. This actually began as a Weight Watchers recipe and I substituted the steel cut variety because it has a crunch to it even without the added nuts. My husband and I are now hooked on it. atessaro
