Good morning runners! It's the weekend already! Not sure if it's just me, but time is flying by! I can't believe the first quarter of this year is gone already.
Tomorrow morning is my 8k race! I am excited, but a little nervous since it's the first distance beyond 5k. I've run 5 miles a few times (and even 6 once) so I know I can do the distance, it's just pre-race jitters and anticipation. Hopefully it will turn into adrenaline tomorrow morning!
Susan- Good luck at your 10k tomorrow!! I'll be thinking of you when I am running! Fleet Feet!! :)
Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend!

Good luck, Meg and Susan!
Happy happy day - it's Good Friday, I had a bit of a lie-in, and now I'm sipping coffee, looking at recipes, and planning an "at-home" day (with a hike and a run or ride in there too).
Do folks have big Easter or Passover plans? I'm guessing Les will be extra busy this weekend :) Julie, thanks for the sherry tasting report! Not sure I would have liked the sherry part, but the experience and the food sound great.
Best to everyone!

Happy Good Friday! I wasn't planning a day off, but realized that everyone at my client except for the Americans have the day off. So, it's very quiet and I'm taking advantage of it. Just got back from a nice hike at the dog park.
MegMeg - Good luck at your race, too! I'll be thinking of you. I'm going w/2 GFs, followed by a leisurely morning at a coffee shop. This race is very family-oriented, plus an awesome cause (Cancer Society), so I really enjoy it. Will try to beat my time from last month's 10K
KValley - your bike ride sounds wonderful. And my mouth is watering with your menu. Not sure if my body was telling me to take a break. In fact, I think I need to up my mileage. But maybe this week will go in the books as a 'recovery' week & I might be the better for it
Nat - your day sounds fab. And I'm sure you have a great feast planned for this weekend.
Les - good luck with all the work activities you have for the weekend
No family plans this weekend beyond me & DH. I have the race on Sat, then we have tix to go see Bill Cosby Sat night. I can't wait!! Haven't decide yet about Sunday dinner. DH said he didn't want lamb. We might do fondue!
Last night was a fun 5-mile tempo run w/my running group. Big crowd last night. Met some new folks. Pushed the pace for about 3 miles, then hooked up w/some people & started chatting.
I got some insoles for my shoes & really like them so far! The true test will be my long run. But so far, they're great. I feel a bit more stable, have less pressure on the balls of my feet, and don't feel the road quite so much. They're here: www.superfeet.com
Happy Easter & Passover to everyone!

Good morning all! Cold and rainy here, so workouts yesterday and today consisted of time on the TM. I recorded several episodes of L&O, so it wasn't hard to go for a longer run and add an occasional interval. Need to get back to the CC for weights soon....
Natasha, your day sounds relaxing. Do you have weekend plans yourself?
Meg and Susan, I hope you have good weather and a great time at your runs tomorrow. Do you have any goals for your races?
I am tucking away the duct tape tip, although hoping I don't need to use it.
Since DH is still OOT, it will just be the kids and me for Easter. They requested spaghetti(!), and I'm thinking, why not? Still planning to go get the rug cleaner this afternoon, although I have never used it, and I am totally dreading it.
What is everyone else up to?

Thanks for starting Meg, I sense you'll be fine tomorrow in your 8k. If you've done the distance a couple times then you'll be okay - slow and steady finishes the race.
Nat - I think we shared the rest day - probably for different reasons but a share none the less. Things will be busy for the remainder of the weekend but I expected it: Part of the reason I didn't feel off taking it a little easy today, especially after the rest of the week.
Susan - Best to you for your race, you'll be fine too I'm sure. Enjoy Bill Cosby, LW and I saw him when we were in college many years ago. I'm sure he's changed a little but it was one of the funniest shows we had seen - him on a stage in the middle of a basketball arena with his cigar and a pie pan (to catch the ashes).
Kathy - Spaghetti for Easter doesn't sound like a bad plan. I have no idea what is on the menu for us but it will probably be pretty easy all things considered, maybe sushi (that would be a shocker for Easter wouldn't it).
Julie - The sherry tasting sounds like a lot of fun. Almost like the Port tasting we had a couple years ago (of course we were in Portugal so there were lots of local ones to choose from). I hope you have a great weekend.
I slept in today, mostly because I didn't actually get home until almost 12:40 this morning after all was said and done. An agape supper at church followed by a service that didn't let out until about 9:00. Then home to sit an hour at a vigil at school from 11-12. During which I realized I didn't have any Claratin (and my allergies would have kept me up all night) so had to find a 24-hour drug store (which was harder than I imagined in Alexandria). No classes today beacuse it is Good Friday (and no classes on Easter Monday either).
The good news for today was I extracated my bike from the shop (it definitely needed the work too). The day was fine for a ride so took my mountain bike out for a spin and I'm thrilled with the quality of the work done on it.
The remainder of the weekend: 4 church services, 1 tomorrow starting at 8:00 and 3 on Sunday; a dinner at church tomorrow before the service (I'm taking a salad -- need to figure out what). Then rest. I figure there will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 folks there on Sunday between the 3 services (a normal Sunday is ~375-400) so I'll be beat by the end.
Monday off... maybe another ride and hopefully I'll get a run going tomorrow afternoon before heading out for church.
Have a great remainder of the weekend and a Happy easter/Good Passover.
Les

Back to report a 3 mile run outside! Temps are right around 50 with a sunny sky...very nice. Followed by a long walk with the dogs to cool down. Cleaning the rugs was pretty much a workout, too, but I'm glad it's done. I'm planning to clean some upholstery this AM before I have to take the machine back.
DD is making posters (she is running for a STUCO office), and DS is off to participate in some kind of "Powder Puff Volleyball" game at school (I think it's a tournament among non-volleyball playing students). I think their plans sound like more fun than mine do! :p
Les, DS would LOVE to eat at your house if you are having sushi! I would definitely opt for low-key menu plans with the agenda you have in store for you. Hope you have a great run!
GO Susan! GO Meg! We'll be waiting to hear your reports! :)
Hi to Natasha, Carrie, Julie, Vicci, Tkay and everyone else!!

Great job - 50 and sunny is divine weather to run in.
DS is off to participate in some kind of "Powder Puff Volleyball" game at school (I think it's a tournament among non-volleyball playing students).
I remember from my day that powderpuff football was when the girls played football and the boys were the cheerleaders. I participated when I was in High School - a cheerleader (I looked smashing too ;) :p ) it was a lot of fun. I hope that DS Has fun today.
Les, DS would LOVE to eat at your house if you are having sushi! I would definitely opt for low-key menu plans with the agenda you have in store for you. Hope you have a great run!
Low-key will be the key I think. Running right now... not so much. I'm trying to put the finishing touches on an essay (700-1000 words) that's due by Tuesday midnight and I doubt I'm going to want to do a lot of work on it tomorrow). That and it has been raining steadily since before I got up this morning. I think, if the paper gets done sufficiently enough I'll splash around in the puddles a little.
I hope to hear a good race report from both Meg and Susan today.
Happy Holy Saturday and see you in the funnies,
Les

A fantastic, if short, night yesterday and a wonderful day today. My announcement for the dayis that over the 4 services "my" church had between 8:00 pm last night and 11:15 today we had (conservatively) more than 1000 people in church. There were at least 520 in one service alone.
Well, I've burned off some of the frenetic energy with ~1:10 outside on my mountain bike. It was an amazing afternoon and the breeze was a little more than I expected: it took me 8 minutes more to come back on the same route that I went out on, a lot into the wind. Still it was good to burn off the energy and help my mind get less energized. Now I can get to work on the project that's due Tuesday. Thankfully the Seminary is not having classes on Easter Monday so I can have a "leisurely" Monday starting with a doctor's appointment (nothing critical, just a couple prescriptions renewed) at 8:20 (have to show 15 minutes early and the clinic is near the Pentagon) oy vey! After that it will be dedicated work on a couple things assuming that I get the paper edited this evening.
Happy easter and happy trails,
Les

Happy Monday, runners! We had a really fantastic weekend. In fact, I slept in today and wish I was still in bed :-)
The American Cancer Society 10K was great on Sat. My goal was to beat my time from last month's 10K, which I did, so am happy. The weather was perfect - sunny & 45. I went w/one GF, then we ran into a few other buddies & all had a great brunch afterwards.
On Sun, I woke up not sore at all, so decided to do my long run. Mon called for rain, so I decided to run on Sun. Bad idea in hindsight. My hips & legs were soooooo sore the entire run. I got in 13, even though I should have done a few more. And, of course, today I woke up doubly sore. Oh well. Lessons learned.
Did anyone catch the Paris Marathon coverage on Versus yesterday? It was fun to watch, and I thought of Newsomz.
MegMeg - how was your race? We're all anxious to hear
Les - congrats on a successful weekend, and that great attendance.
Howdy to the rest o' the gang. Have a great Monday

Weights this AM plus 3 miles on the TM (several intervals). I also walked on the TM yesterday for 65 min while we watched a movie. Couldn't get motivated to a full run, but had to do something after our Easter meal. I didn't even plan anything fancy, but it turned out quite nice with my mom and BIL joining us. Hope everyone else had a nice day as well!
Congratulations on beating your previous 10K time, Susan. Sounds like it was a great day all around with good weather, a good race and gathering with friends afterwards.
What a whirlwind of activitiy for you, Les! Nice job getting in that bike time....I am sure it was needed. Good luck getting your paper wrapped up today.
Pretty busy schedule the next few days, then DH finally gets home on Friday. Off to mail in our taxes! :)

Hello everyone!
My 8k race was fantastic! It stayed overcast the entire time; it was a bit humid, but the temperature and light breeze as great! I felt SO GOOD the entire time. It's too early to tell since this is the only race I've done so far that's longer than a 5k, but I really enjoyed the longer distance. I beat my fastest training 5 miles time by about 90 seconds so I am really happy with that!
Susan - Congratulations on your race!!! Sounds like such a fun day, especially brunch afterward!
Les - Wow! Great Easter service numbers! Hope you're having a productive non-seminary day today.
Kathy - Rug cleaning doesn't sound fun, but now it's done for a while! Did you end up having Easter Spaghetti? We grilled burgers yesterday hehe.
Nat - Your Friday home day sounds wonderful! How was the rest of your weekend?
Hi to everyone! :)
Natasha
04-13-2009, 02:52 PM
Kathy, I'd take your kids' plans too! That's nice that you fit in a walk and family time after Easter dinner.
Did I hear sushi? Is there a sushi party in the works?? Me too, please! :D
Les, congrats on making it through that weekend! Sounds like it went splendidly!
Congrats too to our racers!
I wonder how Oceanjasper's recovery is coming along, and hope too that Vicci found some answers.
Coming off a four-day weekend... very nice. Pretty tight today, though, so lots of massaging and an adjustment were in order. Goooood stuff. Now to figure out dinner.
Take care, everyone :)

Congrats to Meg & Susan on your races!! Thanks for the great reports.
Natasha - Hope you enjoyed the massage. I have one scheduled for the day before classes start.. Want to start out in the right mindset :)
Les - Wow! You must be tired after all the services. Hope you're getting a nice rest today.
Kathy - The Easter dinner sounds fantastic. We forgot to eat dinner but DBF's parents came up for a surprise lunch visit with tamales. Yum.
I didn't catch the coverage of the Paris marathon, too bad! I did get out for my first post-marathon run today but my legs told me it should be a post-marathon walk.. The joints & bones still feel a bit tender so I took it extra easy. I'll try again Wednesday. I have been riding my bike around town. Wow! Three months of no bike riding and I have a virgin butt again, lol. I'll have to build up to longer rides.
Happy Monday to all!

COngrats Susan on your time in the 10k. Not only a good time running but a good time with friends, a bonus. Sorry your legs were sore today and I hope that you got things back in working order.
Kathy B - congrats getting your taxes done. One more year behind you eh? Life is nothing but exciting the week of Easter anymore - but I wouldn't change it. It sounds like you had a good day yesterday also.
Nat - Sushi in this neck of the woods. Cooking was out of the question yesterday - the mind just couldn't function correctly. :D I hope you get that massage soon too.
Meg - Congrats on your good race, we're proud of you. Neat how you picked up speed over your training times (that's not hard to imagine in my book either).
Carrie - Physically tired from standing and singing a lot in 15 hours but mentally going about 1000 mph (that's the Myers-Briggs 'E' in me). Good for you to take it easy if you're still sore from your race. Too funny about the virgin butt too. :D
I had a good leisurely Monday. The Dr's appointement went as expected. Finished my paper that's not actually due until midnight tomorrow and turned it in - it's done and that will be good enough. Then I went out and got new scoots Brooks - Defyance2 (see below) and took off for an hour run - divine weather: lower 50s, overcast, a gentle breeze and a slight drizzle as the run finished. A little more work and I'm heading in "earlier" tonight. Then a nice quiet homemade dinner, chicken and couscous with veggies.
Tomorrow starts a new school week.
Happy trails all,
Les

Well-Completed Race Congratulations to Meg and Susan! Both races sounded very successful and enjoyable! I hope I sail through my race as easily as Meg described hers.
Les it sounds like you enjoyed your leisurely Monday. After all of that work yesterday, it was deserved! How big is your church to be able to accommodate 520+?!? And nice shoes-- is that the color combo you purchased? I like it!
KathyB, what-- you don't drive to the post office at 11:30pm on the 15th??? ;) Not that I ever have, you see, I've just heard of people who do... Good going on the post-Easter dinner treadmill, too.
Carrie, Easter tamales? Sign me up! And it's time to pull out those padded biking shorts, I suppose. :p
Nothing like a good 4-day weekend, right Nat?! It's tough to come back from it, though (to the real world) :)
A little wrench was thrown into my weekend in the form of a bad head/ chest cold that appeared out of nowhere Saturday night/ Sunday morning. So odd. I went out for an hour run Saturday afternoon, came back to the house and baked bread and a lemon cake for Easter lunch, went to bed as usual, and woke up Sunday in the wee hours with many nasty symptoms. My worst case scenario was that the cold would settle in my chest, cause an asthma attack, and I'd have to rush to the ER (or to the doctor's office, if I could hold it off for a day).
Fortunately (???) the mess seems to have migrated to my head in the last 24 hours, so I'm dealing with that. But I had plans for the next 2 weeks of how I wanted to schedule my runs to lead up to the 10k on the 25th, and I'm going to have to rework them since I can't imagine going out again until at least Wednesday. *wah*
I used the "satellite image" option on Map My Run and was surprised to find that my trails were quite visible, except for those in the deep woods. What amazes me is how straight DH made these-- I now wonder what people in low-flying aircraft think of those nicely-aligned paths... Anyway, I discovered that if I run a figure-8 course 10 times it will equal 6.3 miles or so, and this is about the length of a 10k, correct? So I will try that hopefully by the end of this week at the latest. I just want to see if I can actually run that distance before I sign up!
Also amusing to note from the map, when Spooky goes on walks with me, we cover about .3 mile. Kind of neat to think about a cat walking a third of a mile!
Okay, off to make yet another carafe of hot tea. I made a big pot of chicken-orzo soup yesterday, and DH brought me home a quart of wonton soup from our favorite restaurant, so at least I have some variety.. I don't get colds often, and forget how completely miserable they can be!
Oh, a race-related question. If the race is to begin at 9, when should I be there (it's a 45-minute drive)? And when should I eat breakfast? I cannot run (or bike) on an empty stomach, and I eat a full breakfast every morning, but I usually don't go out until the afternoon. Suggestions on what to eat, please? Probably not the usual Saturday morning whole-grain pancakes...
Leslie Ferguson

Les it sounds like you enjoyed your leisurely Monday. After all of that work yesterday, it was deserved! How big is your church to be able to accommodate 520+?!? And nice shoes-- is that the color combo you purchased? I like it!
520 meant there was little extra space and there were probably 50-75 in the "lobby" and library (the back of the main church has sliding doors that open into the lobby and the library has sliding doors that open into the lobby just for such occasions) and some number that I couldn't see in the enclosed crying room. Suffice to say that the church easily holds 300 (275 at the main service on any given Sunday) but at 520 there wasn't much open space between the heads in the congregation.
The shoes... black and orange is the color of the year. Three pairs I tried on today were black and orange and there were probably 4 more pairs that weren't in the style I needed.
More responses tomorrow since it is midnight (so much for early to bed).

Good morning Vicci - I am so excited for you and your upcoming race! :) I get to races 30-45 minutes before they start, depending on if I have to pick up my race number/packet that morning, if I know parking might be far, etc. As far as what to eat, everything I've read always says to *not* do things new or different on race day. Race morning is not the time to try out a new breakfast routine. How early are you planning to get up race morning? Personally, I think whole grain pancakes sound like a great breakfast! Good carbs, not too heavy. I usually eat a banana with a bit of peanut butter on race mornings. I would like to eat more, but my stomach is usually nervous/excited about the race and that's all I can stuff down hehe. This last race I did the banana and PB around 6am, then at 7:30am ate one of those GU gel things, then the race started at 8a. That seemed to work really well for me.
*waves* Hi to everyone!!

Newsomz - Are you back in FL already? Does this mean you guys are moving this week? I love the phrase virgin butt! Will definitely start using that. I plan on my first outdoor bike ride of the season tomorrow, so that will be me.
Vicci - Very cool about checking out your trails on satellite! When you go do your practice 10 laps, that will be a good time to practice your breakfast. Everyone is different, but I prefer cold cereal about 1.5 hours before race time. I'd definitely stay away from pancakes, but the syrup makes me crash. Also an individual thing. I like to arrive at races about 45 min before race time. It really depends on parking, how many racers, etc.
Yesterday was a much needed rest day. Today I'm headed out to a new park w/some GFs to run on some trails. Should be fun

I wonder how Oceanjasper's recovery is coming along...
Thanks for thinking of me! I've been reading everyone's updates, but haven't posted anything. I finished up my ski season last Friday. Things were actually feeling pretty good after skiing all day; no more bruising and just a little bit of swelling. Unfortunately, I still can't run. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I am hoping to have a chance to bring this up. It has been over 5 weeks and I am starting to feel a bit frustrated at the progress of the healing. I will probably try going to the gym this week, since I don't want to lose the fitness I have gained from skiing, but I am not sure yet what I will do there. The gym is certainly not my favourite place to be. :)

Vicci, thanks for the update and I'm glad you're feeling better! Hope you get out for your run tomorrow. That's cute about Spooky walking 1/3 of a mile! He sounds like a cat with a ton of personality. Yup, 10k is 6.2 miles.
Oceanjasper, thanks for checking in! Good luck with the doctor. I'm sorry to hear you still can't run but that's positive if you could do a full day of skiing!
Robyn, how are you feeling these days?
Can't stick around long but I wanted to pop in and say HI before going out to walk the pup. I plan to spin later this evening.
Take care, guys!

Pre-race meal for me tends to be bagels, apple sauce (sans sugar - makes me crash too), and maybe a bag of Nabisco "100 calorie" cookies about 60-90 minutes before the race, but that regimen took years of practice. Bagels and fruit are always good in my book and cold cereal would be a good thing too. Apples and bananas tend to be winners in the fruit category and caffeine (coffee is always good but not too much) again, sans milk and sugar. 45-60 minutes before the race if it's not too big too. If the race is really small I'd shoot for 30 minutes just because.
Laying low today - needed to rest and had to prep for fasting blood work in the morning which precluded running or spinning. Tomorrow may be a wash out too - supposed to rain like the dickens.
Welcome back Oceanjasper - I hope your doctor's appointment goes well.
Happy trails to the rest of the gang - coming down from a fantastic weekend.

Okay, so I sort of took some advice I took Friday off to ski and then did absolutely no workouts Saturday and Sunday. Then, yesterday I swam 1200 yards. Today is the 1 year anniversary of my decision to change my life. I had a 3.5 mile run on the schedule, longer than I'd done in awhile. Now mind you I've run/walked everything I've done to date and my longest continuous was 20 minutes and just under 2 miles. I don't know what hit me today but it was just there. I walked the first 2 minutes and then I ran the rest of it. SLOW overall pace of 12:15 miles but I did it! I ran 3.5 miles and 41 minutes straight.
I'll go back an catch up with everyone but I'm on a freaking high and had to report!!! :D:D:D

Robyn - that is so awesome! Congrats on both your anniversary and this big milestone. I knew you could do it. You are an amazing athlete
Yesterday running at the state park was really fun. 1 hour. lots of hills. Exploring trails & not really knowing where we were. Great views on a spring day. Will definitely have to go back with DH and Bode some time.

I'm another who likes a banana or other fruit, and sometimes a half or full bagel before a run. If it's a super long run (like a long race), I'll usually have a bagel with peanut butter, plus a banana, and possibly also a glass of milk.
Sounds like you're all set, Vicci!
Les, hope the bloodwork went smoothly... don't you hate fasting?? I do.
Robyn, good going!
My mom's over - yeah! Off to pull together some dinner. More evening training but that's okay - better than not fitting it in at all.
Hope everyone else is doing well :)

Les, hope the bloodwork went smoothly... don't you hate fasting?? I do.
My mom's over - yeah! Off to pull together some dinner. More evening training but that's okay - better than not fitting it in at all.
I'm not a fan of fasting - partly because of my metabolism. I find that if I actually stop eating at dinner I wake up in the middle of the night so hungry that the plush look tasty. ;) :D So I end up trying to take the 5 meals I spread out over the day and jam the intake into 3 - never fun. As for blood work, the tech actually missed a vein, a first in I don't know how long. But his second attempt (the other arm) went without a hitch.
I hope (know) you had fun with your mom. What was for dinner tonight, anything interesting?
Carrie - Not bad for your first run post marathon. Always good to come back easy after your first one. I hope you get back to speed (no pun intended) soon.
Robyn - Congrats on you anniversary. Has it only been a year? It seems like you've been here forever.
Funky day - amazing how blood work and an hour off the schedule throws the whole day off. Also found out this afternoon that (I forgot) I'm playing in an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament this weekend. Change of plans. Feeling a little like Homer Simpson -- DOH! Now I've got to do more stuff between now and Friday afternoon so I can let myself play in the tournament. Oh and it was pouring all day today too - funky rain.
With that... Happy trails all,
Les

OJ, I hope that your doctor gave you the okay to start running. It sounds as though you are not suffering for lack of exercise, but now that skiing is over you'll need "something else".
Oh my, 520 people in a 300-person church...Les, I cannot speak in front of more than a couple of people-- this would've killed me! Yeesh. ;) And I understand about your reaction to fasting. I've spent the last 2 months portioning all of my meals and not eating anything after dinner because I had to lose some weight. I was hungry all of the time, but night was the worst-- I was famished every morning. If I had to go and have bloodwork in the morning, I would have started chewing on the steering wheel on the way to the clinic! I hope that the results of your tests are returned favorably.
Robyn, you have certainly come a long way in a year! Congratulations!
Welcome back Carrie, and back to Florida running. :)
Meg, Susan, Nat, & Les, thanks loads for your input about pre-race feed. And on when to get there. I hope to be asking fashion questions next week...
IF, after this weekend, I feel as though I can do the race.
The cold worked down into my chest and set off a mild asthma attack today. It wasn't bad enough to go to the doctor (I did some self-therapy with steam and albuterol) but I get winded just climbing a flight of stairs. Which, since I am drinking a gallon of hot green tea each day and our only bathroom is on the second floor, I am doing often. :o
We plan to go to the lake house for the weekend through Tuesday (a little extra time because my bday is on Monday), and I hope to be able to run the hills down there. If I can manage a decent amount of time doing this, I'll come home and run my 6-mile trail configuration to see if the 10k in a couple of days will be doable. Luckily, I have until 9pm on Thursday the 24th to register.
Grrrr. My head is so full of stuff, I can't imagine ever being able to breathe freely again! But I shall try to be patient...
And a wave to KathyB, Tkay, Julie, and anyone else whom I may have missed (sorry!).

Robyn, way to go!!
Talked to the doc today and she figures it will be another 6 weeks before it heals up completely. The good thing is that testing it out by running will not likely damage anything, although it may slow the healing. I went for a long walk tonight and threw in a few minutes of slow jogging and it didn't hurt. I think I might test it a little bit more tomorrow... :)

Les, that sounds my life, constantly changing plans!
Vicci, I hope you feel better soon!
I got in a 2 hour ride last night although it was very windy, about 20mph winds gusting to 30mph. I called it wind intervals, works just as well as hill intervals at that strength me thinks.
OH! And I have an announcement to make. Anyone remember CLBBer Catharine? She has announced that she is training for Ironman Florida and has registered. So, if you want stop by and cheer her on and follow her progress her new blog is www.ironwomancat.blogspot.com or stop by my blog and I link to it on the blogs I read list!

Hmmmm....was she a VRBer? That name isn't ringing a bell for me. But, it is exciting news for sure! DH did that one a few years back. Panama City FL was beautiful & very relaxing (of course, i wasn't the one racing ;-)
Went on my first outdoor bike ride of the season yesterday! In shorts even. (I'm a very fair weather cyclist this year) Only 12 miles, but a very good start. It was glorious. I definitely have virgin but$! and hands. and back :-)

I don't think she was a VRBer but you may remember her avatar because it's the most beautiful flower I've ever seen. Here's a link (http://community.cookinglight.com/member.php?u=2748) to her profile. She still posts on occasion but not often.

Oh, forgot to respond to the virgin but$! comment. Man, oh man that has been one of the blessing of being on the trainer so much this winter! I've not battled it too much. Although with the aero position I'm finding my area of typical soreness has, um, moved forward.

Hey, all! Just got home from the CC with a round of weights and 4 miles on the TM to report. Felt pretty good...a nice all around workout.
Robyn, great job on your 41 minute run!! And also on your 2hour interval ride. You have a lot of self-discipline...way to go! You may have already mentioned this, but when does ski season end? I would think it is coming up soon.
OJ, glad to hear things are on the mend, and that you have the green light to ease back into things. Don't go crazy now! ;)
Vicci, I hope you get rid of the crud soon! At least climbing the stairs to use the BR simulates hills a little bit while you are recuperating! Are you planning any kind of celebration while you are at the lake?
Les, I had to laugh at your comment that you found out that you forgot something you are doing. That is usually the order of the day around here. It's been tough lately with DH gone...he has not been around to help me figure out what I have forgotten! :D
Carrie, good job on getting back out again! Sounds like you are going to get back into the swing of things just fine.
Good job on your ride, Susan. Hope you have a nice cushy chair to sit in at home.
Congratulations on your 8K and your new PR, Meg! Nice that the weather cooperated.
Natasha, How was dinner with your mom? Did you make anything new? Glad to hear you had a nice long weekend.
I worked yesterday, and DH gets home tomorrow, so I will be cleaning today. StuCo elections are today, so DD is very anxious/excited. She ran for class treasurer, and she worked very hard making posters and coming up with slogans. DS is participating in a Mr. (name of school) competition tomorrow where he will answer questions, play piano (talent), and participate in a swimsuit competition! :D (I think they must both be adopted....I am totally an introvert!)
Better sign off and get busy. Have a great weekend everyone!

I'm glad I can bring more smiles - I know I do it around here.
Great job on your run Robyn and I hope that you feel better after a blah day (cross posting from FB I guess).
Kathy B - Congratulations on getting DH back and all that comes with that. I'm intrigued by DS and school. What ever became of the powderpuff volleyball?
I had a nice day today and I actually got out and played Frisbee this afternoon. A little sore in my left lat and tricep but that's just part of the deal these days I guess. I need to pack and get things shoved into my car so I can leave at a reasonable hour tomorrow and hopefully beat the traffic to Richmond (don't really think that will happen but...).
Hope all are well and keep things on a relatively even keel.
Happy trails,
Les

Les, Frisbee sounds fun!
Planned rest day today ... I'm baking (goodies are in the oven now), watching a bit of hockey, and just hanging out. Kathy, we didn't make anything too special last night - portabello burgers and Cajun potatoes. Today was vegetarian chili and some delicious bread that DH found.
Oceanjasper, thanks for the update! Glad the walk/run experiment went well. Fingers crossed that things continue to progress in this vein!!
Good luck to your kids! Hope your DD's election went well today and that she will be the Treasurer, and that all goes well for your son tomorrow. What a hilarious competition! Welcome home to your DH. Does he travel a lot?
Robyn, thanks for the info about Catharine. Too neat! I wish her good luck and happy training :)
Hi to everyone else! *waving*
