Ok,I'm jealous. I want a fun custom avatar but have no idea where to get one. Where do you go to get one? Are there special websites that have them? Everytime i see one those cute dancing smiley faces, or the little fish swimming around, i just feel all left out! Someone help!! :D

This is where I got mine.

Since the avatars need to be a certain size, I had to click on the minimation link. (It's the same website - just a different page.)
Have fun looking!

I think I found my by entering smileys on google and searching for smiley gifs.
But now after looking at the link posted by Shirley, I think it is time to change. :D
Thanks Shirley!

My first posts were while the boards were all screwy, and I'm still at zero posts. :( I can't wait 'till I get my own avatar, custom or not.

I snagged mine from here: http://www.wfgraphics.f2s.com/emoticons/emoticons.html
Here are some others that I have bookmarked for future use:

Shirley I love yours and bookmarked it. Thanks :D
You can also do a search for icons where you will find graphics in the smaller size.

hmmmm, guess not?
ok- in vbb, i chose custom avatar & went to the website, got the profile info on the chosen avatar (it was the proper size), and wrote the address in the appropriate space in vbb. Did I miss something? I'm sorry to ask this for probably the millionth time, I went and did a search & couldn't find the info I was looking for.
Anyone?

Thanks jazzcat!
Well, the avatar is working now, so maybe it just takes time to save? Who knows? Not me, I'm computer illiterate...:p
That's why it took me soooo long to do this.

Kworman, found a baby squid for you at the site Shirley posted!
Ok, my threads are disappearing, I can't get a new avatar to work for anything, and I'm ready to give up, but if anyone out there would like to tell me how I can find the URL for some of these fun things, I'm willing to try once more. Later. I've gone to the sites and found things I'd like to try, but I cannot get a URL to copy into the window on the user cp screen. There is just a picture to copy or save, and that won't work.

Beth -
I find if you right-click on the picture you want to use, at the bottom of the little pop-up menu should be Properties. Click on Properties and it will give you all kinds of information including the address (URL). You can then highlight the address and right-click to copy. When you get back to the User CP screen you can right-click and paste into the avatar address location.
For some reason when I first tried to put up my avatar the address didn't take, but when I did it the second time it worked just fine.
If your avatar is too large, you will get a message telling you that it is too big or something.
Good luck, I hope this helps. :)

Testing.
Thanks for the lesson, Shirley, it worked!
Thanks Shirley. I wasted too much time this morning and the kids are waiting on me for back-to-school hair cuts. I just stopped in on my way to find an old e-mail with a phone #. Perhaps I will have more time to play soon.

I want the squid so badly-not an octopus but close enough-but it's too big, even on the minimations page. Argh. Soooo close, but no cigar. I've been looking for an octopus for forever.
