1Article in LA Times, business C6 8/15 is reporting that all Sierra Home Division Software, except Print Artist, will be divested! Hope someone buy MASTERCOOKt!! I have had it since it first came out by Arion in TX.

Are they selling the home division or just spinning it off as a separate company? The home division is really different from the rest of the company, so it may make sense. If they are selling, I'm sure someone will pick it up and possibly give it more focus. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Beth, the article stated that they were no longer going to keep the Home Division! Hopefully someone will pick it up! I have MC5
and it had a lot of updates. Don't know how MC6 is. It is based on the same plateform. I think this has been coming on for a while!

Curleytop, I would suggest upgrading to version 6 if you can find it, just in case someone doesn't take it over. Although it is still basically the same program, there are quite a few more recipes and the search engine is soooo much faster than version 5's. I have been very happy with my version 6 upgrade.

I agree with Christine. I have recently updated from version 5 to 6 and there doesn't seem to be any bugs with this one than there was with 5. *fingers crossed* :D

Does sound like they have it on the auction block. It could be spun off as a public company (some stock going to Sierra stockholder and some being sold publicly), but I think they would say so if that were the plan. I'll have to watch DH's Wall Street Journal and see if they pick up any news on it, but I would also upgrade or add to your collection if there is anything that would be very important to you. If not, under new ownership, a lot could change and you could be upgrading again.

I WAS ABLE TO FIND A COPY OF MC CL V6! . I went to all the stores (Target in either MB or
Torrance do not carry it) and found 1 (only) copy in Circuit City in Torrance, CA. It was not a bargain, but it did have the coupon for 1 yr subscription to Cl Magazine (this will extend my present subscription). So the price I actually paid was only $9.00 and the free subscription. Got it installed! I had a copy of CL v5 and I also had a Deluxe version with many other cookbooks. I had those 21 cookbooks in MY COLLECTION but they did not copy.
After several postings on the MC Board, I got the correct advise
so that the cookbooks are now on my cookbook browser!
