Another week begins! :)

Les = snarky ??? Yeah, sure! ;)
Wow, you’re almost done with year #2, it’s so close—are you excited? Or exhausted? I bet you’ll sleep in for several days starting on Tuesday, and have many long (and satisfying) runs too!

Robyn I just never thought of May as a skiing month! Or April, for that matter. Hey, even with the shop discounts I’ll bet that you’ll use up your paycheck there. :) And a happy belated birthday to you!

Susan, I’d go for the Singapore trip esp. if the client is paying for it. Wow.

TKay, yes, it feels nice to be consistent with the workouts, doesn’t it?

Carrie 30 min on the treadmill = 1 hour on the road (it’s the boredom factor, you know…) :D

I can report a 50 minute run, and yes almost all of it was actually running. Maybe 90%. Even did a few hills. It felt SO WONDERFUL!!! And my hr was back up to what it was before.

Hope that you all have good weekends. Now, I have to take some lemon cheesecake soufflés out of the oven. Feelin’ pretty sorry for me now, aren’t you??? ;)

Thanks for starting Vicci, I never know how things will sound over the boards and you can't see my face from where you sit... ;) Maybe a little sensitivity (due to lack of sleep) right now too. It sounds like you're back at it, 50 minutes of running (more or less) and hills too. Woo! Hoo! Don't I wish I could sleep in on Tuesday, life doesn't slow down until Friday: Tues morning bright and early audiologist appt (haven't been able to get in with classes) Wed wrap up and preparation for Commencement on Thursday (I'm helping with hospitality and singing at Commencement). But then it's relax for a couple days ~ week. Then the summer internship starts.

Nothing today except one final exam and turning in a paper. Of course, there was a church service for the graduating students and their families after dinner so that took time. One more test on Monday and I'm done!

Happy trails and check you all out later this weekend, maybe a de-stressing run tomorrow.

Drive by... finished with my last exam for the semester and year! I'm a happy camper. Calmness was the key and the prayers were quite helpful.

Hope all are well. Now to the next event on the agenda (which may include a run thank you).

Happy trails,
Les

Yay Les!!! I hope you get your run in.

Vicci - Thanks for starting us out. Those lemon cheesecake souffles sounds AMAZING!

I got in another 30 min run in on Saturday & a nice walk Sunday. Today it's been raining allllll ddddaaaaayyyyyy :( Can you tell I'm used to sunshine, lol. Anyhow, haven't gotten out for any exercise & probably won't. I have a quiz to study for, lunch to make, and other general studying to do :) I'm hoping the weather clears up tomorrow so I can go running outside. If not, it will be the treadmill for me again. Good news is that the rain has significantly cooled down things - it's below 60 right now

Congratulations on making it through another year, Les!

Carrie I wonder what it might be like to be so accustomed to the sun? ;) Anyway, I hope that it makes its appearance tomorrow so that you can go out for a run.

As I sit here with my hamstrings absolutely screaming... I will report a 3.66 mile run this afternoon. Perhaps a bit much so soon, but since I am still breathing well I am (trying to) ignore the leg pain. On sunny, warm days I will be running the trails through the woods, which I haven't measured, but on a day like today (sunny and in the low 60's when I went out) I like to run the field paths which I was able to measure using mapquest. It's fun having distance to measure myself against, instead of just time. :)

Happy start to the week, all.

Vicci - Thanks for kicking us off. Glad you are feeling better. I'm sure the impulse to do too much is strong right now. Hope your hammies have recovered.

Les - Snarky? Not in the least. :) Congrats on being done! Wahoo! Now go. Run. Relax. Just be.

Newsomz - Sorry about the weather. I'm used to the sun too. Good luck getting everything done.

I took Saturday and Sunday off since both days were jammed with obligations. Got in a lovely TM run yesterday. Today is weights and possibly yoga. Feeling the need to stretch and de-stress.

Hello to Robyn, Nat, Susan, Meg, KathyB, OJ and everyone else I missed.

Hi VRBers! I'm laying low this week b/c I'm in Las Vegas for a work conference. all day meetings, evening networking events, plus reeeeeaaally slow Internet connection.

I brought my running stuff but - ugh - definitely not used to 100 degrees! Plus, dodging all the tourist college grads with their bathing suits & implants might make for a cruddy workout. Can you tell I'm not a big Las Vegas fan?

On the plus side....the food has been phenomenal! Our dinner last night was at the Lambourghini dealership. Lunch today at Sushi Samba. Yummmmmmmm!

I have definitely decided to go for the Singapore trip & postpone the marathon. Thx to everyone for your input. It really helped as I was thinking things through. I'd honestly consider doing the Madison Marathon this weekend, except I really think it will be best long-term for me to figure out & resolve my foot problems b4 they turn into a real injury.

Vicci - I hope your hamstrings have forgive you by now :)

TKay - Yoga sounds wonderful! I did some over the weekend (1st time in a very long time) and it was blissful. Enjoy.

Susan - Have a great time in Singapore!!!! Can't wait to hear the report & see pics :)

I got in another 30 min on the treadmill today. This rain has got to let up! I'd like to get outside soon.

Hi all!

I've kind of been lying low just dealing with my new jobless reality. I took Thursday through Saturday off just to grasp everything then got out of an easy ride on Sunday while cheering my coach on who ran in the Colfax Marathon Relay. Monday I'd scheduled a 6 mile run but I forgot my inhaler at home (had driven to my planned run spot) so I cut it short to 2.5 miles. Yesterday I did a nice 24 mile ride concentrating on keeping my cadence high. Nice thing is my pace was right at what I was at the end of last season. Today I got out and really did the 6 miler. I walked a slight bit more than I'd hoped but overall it was okay. Monday's race is supposed to be cooler (maybe even raining). I did have a slight issue that the park that has a water fountain and was supposed to be my mile 5 water source was not functioning so I went into a nearby apartment office and begged a bottle of water. Then about half a mile later I got asked to "hop in" some guys car. Uh, slightly flattering but mostly really creepy!

The rest of the week will be lower impact to prepare for Monday. Swim and strength tomorrow before driving up to the mountains where I'm babysitting for a friend, easy 2 mile run up there on Friday (should make Monday's run 3000 feet lower feel easy!) the swim or bike on Saturday depending on how I feel. I'm going to rest on Sunday before Monday's race. I'm super, super excited about the Bolder Boulder and while today's run was hard I feel like the race environment will push it over the edge and make it super fun. :D

Susan - Sorry about the pitfalls of Vegas. Glad you're at least enjoying the cuisine. Congrats on your decision about Singapore.

Newsomz - Nice going on the dreadmill run. What is with the weather?

Robyn - Sounds like you're handling everything beautifully. You're taking care of yourself, but not throwing away all your hard work. Good for you. I'm sure your race will be great.

Unplanned day off for me. Lots of work and stuff to do for (the boys') school. Gotta keep my head down to finish.

Happy running (biking, swimming, walking, yoga-ing, weight lifting or whatever-ing) today.

Hello runners!

I've been MIA, I know. I haven't even been reading the threads and not posting, but I think things will calm down now.

Robyn, I'm sorry to hear about your job loss. And I hope your race training goes well.

Susan, I hear you on Vegas. We flew into Vegas last week to attend my sister's wedding in northern AZ. We stayed one night in Vegas and we are not fans. it was very hot at the wedding....106 or so almost all the days we were there.

Les, congrats on the end of the school year!

Vicci, good job on the runs!

Carrie, has it stopped raining?

I"ve been running fairly consistently. DH and I ran in the early morning in AZ and it was nice at 6 am. I was also traveling a lot for work from the middle of April. The sad news is that my kitty died yesterday, just before we got home from the wedding. She had been sick for a month or so and she was 17. I've had her since she was 5 months old and she moved with me from Minnesota to NYC to Tennessee. A year and a half ago, we had 4 cats and now we only have one and he's 16.

On that depressing note, I hope everyone has a good evening!
Kathy

First, (((Kathy))) for the loss of your feline companion. I know how it feels, having lost too many in my time (we once had 8! Now, just one... and a very spoiled one, at that). Although it get better over time, you have to deal with the time, and I hope that it passes quickly and with minimal heartache. :)

Also, it was nice of you to check it. Come back soon!

TKay it sounds as though, even though you called it a "day off", it wasn't! Hope that you were able to finish it all.

Susan, if I were closer I would invite you over to see what a really slow internet connection was like-- then you could return to your hotel and feel as though you were "zooming"! ;) And good decision about Singapore-- what a great time that should be (even tho you'll be working).

I can't believe that the race is only in a few days Robyn, you sound psyched! I laughed about the "flattering yet creepy" offer. :D

Carrie, I'm sending you dry weather (we had 11 straight days of rain about 2 weeks ago, but it's now over) so you can get outside and run!

Yesterday I took my bike and, using the odometer, walked the running trails, measuring between intersecting points. Now can run distances in both the woods and the fields. Today, I did 3.1 miles. This is fun!

Any big plans for the upcoming holiday weekend (We know about Robyn's!)? I can't believe that it's Memorial Day already!

Hey gang - I'd love to comment to all but still running out of speed and I have to do commencement in the morning.

Creepy request Robyn glad you didn't take him up (like I thought you might anyway).
Sorry about your cat Kathy B.

No running yet but did a huge ride yesterday afternoon and dropped off my road bike to get it ready for the summer. Helped a classmate move out of the dorm this evening so that took most of my workout time and energy.

To bed, maybe a run tomorrow after the festivities are done. One can only hope.

Happy trails,
Les
