Well, I'll start us off again! Alysha so graciously reminded me that it's May...not April.
I'll copy the tread I started...

Or maybe not-so-graciously. ;) It's just too funny that you did it last week too and it didn't even register until you did it again today!
I got my 1 mile run in this morning - it was great. It's beautiful outside and I drove a mile or two to a flat road that runs along a creek. It's very pretty and nice and shady too, so I can see this being my outdoor running spot when it's nice outside. Even though it's mostly flat, I could certainly feel even the slightest incline since I've been used to running only inside.
According to my plan, I run 1 mile today and Weds and then add a quarter mile on Friday and continue that pattern, adding a 1/4 mile each week.
I'm still walking too, but not really keeping track of that - I want most of my focus to be on the running for now.
Now to get the weight workouts in. That may have to wait until next week when I'm off work for the summer. We'll see.
Enjoy the rest of you holiday weekend everyone! :)

Oh too funny... I could hardly decide which thread to post on! I didn't notice the 'april" thing either.
Stacy CONGRATULATIONS on finishing STS! That is tough stuff! Be proud of yourself! Do you plan on repeating the series anytime soon? We had family over for lunch .. they haven't seen me since january, and they noticed I look different so it's working. not fast enough mind you, but progress.
Jessica, welcome, assuming you can find your way to the right thread!
Alysha... keep up the good work.. that sounds like a reasonable plan to increase mileage and sounds like a pleasant place to run.
charisse only a couple weeks til school's out and you can get back on a better schedule.
I'm trying to remember what I did and when... I did GS legs on saturday. we were planning a hike sunday, I didn't want to be too sore from STS 9. once I got going I did the whole disk, not just the standing portion, and I got good and sore. good intention, incorrect outcome. our hike sunday didn't work... avalanche across the road stopping us several miles from the trailhead. we tried another nearby hike but it was too snowy so we only went for an hour before bagging it as a lost cause. by then it was too late to try another, plus our momentum was gone.
monday we did a street bike ride 30 miles. It was pleasant although not difficult. about 3 hours. with traffic it's necessary to stop more often... gotta yield to cars... so it's not as intense as on the trail we ride. I've been riding often enough, we to step up the intensity.... this was just fun ride in a rural farmsy area but we both would have liked to do more.
Today I *should* do STS 9 but we're doing a big hike wednesday and I don't want to start fatigued. I'll jump to STS 10 and disk 9 thursday if I'm not too sore.

Hey guys!!
I've had a strange weekend - Poor Sam had a fever all holiday weekend and we went for chest xrays this morning. He has pneumonia! He's been quite the trooper with the fever but has been coughing like crazy over the past couple of days. His stomach muscles are so sore!!! At least we have it diagnosed and he's on Zithromax!!
I was able to do Jump, Pump and Jab on Sunday and yesterday did Stepboxing. That really works my core - love how it makes me feel. Nothing today as we spent the morning at the radiology, then the Dr's and then the pharmacy!! Maybe I can squeeze something in later this afternoon.
Valerie - wow an avalanche! Does that happen alot? Your bike ride sounds fun :)
Alysha - good for you - the nike ipod thingamabob really looks cool!!! Tick tick tick.... almost done!!!!:)
Stacy - congrats!! You are one power woman!!!:D
Relay for Life is this Friday through Saturday. Offically I'm walking 12 - 4am but as team captain I will be there the entire time (with a break to shower Sat am) The weather (knock on wood) sounds wonderful!! Last year we had tornado warnings!!

charisse, the avalanche probably came down the creekbed sometime during the winter.. it didn't just come down and almost hit us or anything. the snow in an avalanche is really compact, hard and full of debris and very deep... so it doesn't melt out as soon as plain old uncompacted snow. the rest of the road was snowfree but without a helicopter we weren't getting our truck over it. probably at least a month -2 months before it melts. it was at least 12-15 feet deep. there are millions of avalanches in the mountains every year and some end up blocking roads. this one was a bit of a surprise.
Hope you little guy does better. Zithromax works great... he'll be back to normal in short order.

Thanks Valerie - he's doing much better!! Although I think I'm going to wrap him in bubble wrap!! Today his 3rd grade class was visiting my school for an orientation to next year... they were on the blacktop for recess and... you guessed it, he crashed. His side, knee, elbow and hand are pretty nasty. Argh. Thank goodness tomorrow's Friday.
Our Relay for Life is tomorrow and Saturday - so after school I'll go over to the track and set up our tent etc... I'll stay overnight - my official walking time is 12-4am but I'm around and will walk whenever. I'll probably go home at 6am, shower and go back = need to walk at 10am-12pm and closing ceremonies are at 5:30. Then I go home and crash!:D It's a lot of work but for a great cause. Our school raised about $4,000 this year with various fundraisers. Pretty proud of them!!
So if I don't check in , have a great weekend everyone!!!:)

Bubble wrap might be a PLAN..... kids seem to get stretches where everything goes wrong... he's gotten his share! I remember going for what seemed like YEARS with skinned, scabby knees. hope your relay goes well and you raise mucho $$$. .
We finally got in a decent hike. it was much tougher than I wanted but we did it anyway. I like to break in with an easier one but... It's about 10 miles round trip with 4800 feet gain and the last 2000 feet in solid snow. there will be snow until august although by then it will be patchy. so it was a grunt and I'm sore today, not ridiculous but there isn't much crossover of training effect between sports. Even if you run or work out all the time, I still get sore when I do a slightly different activity. wish I didn't....
Alysha, hope you're getting your run in.
Stacy, hope you're enjoying your recovery phase. It will be a long time before I get there. I ordered some weighted gloves for the next phase, couldn't find anything locally.

Charisse - Glad he's feeling better. 12-4 AM? Ack! ;) Have fun!
Vanessa - I got my 3 runs in for this week. I did tomorrow's run today because I have a busy day tomorrow and knew it would distract me. So now I'm at 1.25 miles! I really did not want to do that extra quarter mile but I made myself. I'm not good about pushing myself and wimp out way too easily so I'm trying really hard not to wuss out.
I need to check out the website and see what STS is all about...... :)

Only exercised a little thursday... my legs were wiped out. but I did 30 in the treadmill and coremax 3. and friday, I'm not sure. DH wants to hike saturday ( there go the legs again) and bike on sunday. I swear it will take me a year to get thru STS at this rate. not that I'm not getting plenty of exercise though, LOL
alysha, STS is an overall strength training program. three workouts a week, two upper body and one leg. each workout is different so when the disk goes in the player .....even if there are similar moves they'll be in a different order or tweaked slightly. you never know what's coming. you get your 1 rep max for each move so you are maximizing the effects you get from the program. I'm enjoying it although going slowly. I was afraid when hiking season got here this would happen. I really like not knowing what's coming next.

I've been a bit of a slacker this week! I think I've done two kickbox workouts and played a couple hours of tennis. I'll do something this morning....probably run.
DH is out of town so I'm a single mom until Wednesday afternoon! Yes, I have a 9 yo bed partner now! Getting DS to school put a cramp in the my workout schedule but I'll manage something.
Valerie, hope your corn tortilla experiment has some good results for you. If one of those variations don't work, they are just not for you! STS will be there so I wouldn't worry too much. As you say, you are getting plenty of exercise! Enjoy the hiking while it lasts.
Alysha -- Congrats on the 1.25 miles!!! I know what you mean about pushing yourself. I'm kind of like that with cardio, too. Enjoy your summer off. I'm so jealous!!!
Charisse -- Hope your weather cooperates for your walk this weekend! Sounds like a wonderful experience but  on your walk times! Your clock will be so messed up!
Checking in after being MIA for the week. DH was out of town this week and my mom had back surgery, but I managed to work out every day except Thursday.
Wednesday I did another Jillian Michaels DVD: No More Trouble Zones. It was okay, but I like the other one I did last week better. I did feel soreness in my glutes for the next 2 days, though!:)
This morning I did a walk/run outside. I managed to do a good part of it as running, and I was psyched about that.
Tonight my 5 y.o. and I are staying over at my mom's, as she is being discharged today. She has a treadmill, so I am packing my workout gear and weights so I can get a workout in tomorrow and keep an eye on my mom at the same time.
Charisse- hope your relay walk is going well right now!
