Yay! I did it! Thanks to the help I got from some BB members. One thing I should point out is that these are called "Crispy Rice Squares with the Works" not "Rice Krispie Squares with the Works" as I originaly posted them (Sorry to any Kellogg's people...hehehe )

Here's what I came up with:

1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup currants
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup chopped peanuts
1/4 cup flax seeds
1/4 cup chopped apricots
2 1/2 cup "crispy rice" cerial
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons peanut butter

Mix all seeds, currants, peanuts, apricots and cerial in a large bowl.

In a saucepan combine syrup, brown sugar and peanut butter over medium/low heat. Stir until sugar and peanut butter is melted and mixture is combined well.

Add syrup mixture to seed/cerial mixture and then press into a 9x13 pan. I sprayed mine, but you may not have to.

Enjoy!

Lisa ;)

Are they good?

They are really good. I think next time I'll add an extra tablespoon or two of peanut butter though.

If you try them, let me know what you think.

Well now you tell us! I already had it copied into Mastercook! ;)

Let's kick it up a notch! Quarter cup of PB? Something makes me want to add some chocolate chips and/or cranberries to these. Anything else in that kitchen sink?

Beth, you read my mind! I was thinking some mini choc-chips would be good in them too! Or at the very least, melted and drizzled on top! :)

Do these have the texture and consistency of a chewy granola bar? Also, does anyone know the calories/fat/protein/fiber content? I think I'll try them this weekend!

TIA

Yeah, they are kind of like a granola bar. Unfortunately, I don't have the nutritional information for these.

If you try them, let me know what you think.

Lisa W,
I tried these tonight and they're wholesome! I had to use cashews and cashews due to DD's peanut allergy--no peanuts in our house! I bet they're better with the peanuts. I'm passing your recipe on to a friend who is a vegan and was devestated when they stopped making the vegan marshmallows she used for her rice krispy snack addiction.

Thanks!

Lisa W-

I just got done making these. WOW! They are wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing your reicpe. These will be a great mid-afternoon snack, a nice burst of protein, some fiber, and some sugar for my sweet tooth. I will certainly make these again!

Thanks again. :D
