Since Valerie is away and Charisse is sick and racked out on her new meds (j/k!), maybe I'll get us started this week. :)
Last week was pretty good - I got my running goals in and one day of weights. This week I need to keep up the running goals and do at least 2 days, but preferably 3, of the weights.
My oldest son - 15 - went running with me today. He ran much farther - about 2.6 miles - but he has soccer camp in August where he has to run 5+ miles once or twice a week, so his goals will be a little different from mine! But last summer he hardly ran at all in preparation so if I can get him to go with me 3 times a week, he'll be in much better shape this time around. And he's not naturally active (unlike my younger who is rarely still), so it's good for him to get out.
Hope everyone had/has a good week! :)

pheuysil dliwsmcdil did sldighlw???
Ha! I was so hoping to have a couple of days to report! Oh well - yes sinus infection diagnosed as of this morning. And as Alysha said, I'm on good old z-pack.
I'm hoping to walk around the park tomorrow morning (at a non race speed) while Sam has his tennis lessons just to get back in the swing of things!! I am so mushy :(
Alysha - Jack is joing the middle schoolers and high schoolers this summer - every M/W/F (for whomever is around) they do 1/2 hour of light weights; 1/2 hour of conditioning; and 1/2 of scrimmage. That way they should be in shape by the time soccer camp comes around in July and practice starts in August. He starts on Wed :D
Hope everyone had a good weekend and is healthy!!

I am late to the party this week!!
Alysha -- Good job getting your running in last week! It's nice that your son will run with you. Every time I suggest it, DS doesn't want to go. Oh, well. We do play tennis together and we've had him on the treadmill some lately, too. I like your description of him -- not naturally active. That applies to mine, too. And probably to me, too!!
Charisse -- I hope you're feeling better soon! What a crummy way to spend your first week out of school. Yuck! That's cool that Jack is working out with the middle and high schoolers!
Let's see -- Monday I did Squeeze Stronger lower body & abs premix. Good workout but terrible production quality. I guess I'm spoiled by Cathe's top notch stuff! Tuesday was STS #7 - Chest, Shoulders & Biceps. Today I ran to Cardio Coach #2 -- 3.81 miles.
I didn't realize Valerie was gone this week but I know she's staying active!

Today is the best I have felt in a week! Up until yesterday I had such pressure in my head I just wanted to cry:(
But I made myself walk yesterday and today - quick but not cardio like... about a mile and a half - nothing big but just enough to get me going. Today I did the upper body section of one of the FIRM's super sculpt DVD's - wow. I. AM. OUT. OF. SHAPE. I was struggling with light weights.
Tomorrow I'm headed to my mom's - taking the boys. I'm hoping to get to see SueK sometime this weekend :)
Stacy - sounds like you are doing good! Valerie is on vacation for the first part of this week.
Keep sweating girls!! I'll be checking in!!

Charisse - I wish Jake would show more interest in weights. Nicholas does, but at 11, he's still a bit young yet. And darn it if he isn't incredibly defined even though he doesn't do weights yet. He's just got one of those naturally muscular bodies. The moms in my moms group used to make comments! ;) Good for you for doing something even though you feel crappy.
Stacy - Sounds like you're doing well too. :)
Jake and I got our second run of the week in this morning and I did a Cathe workout yesterday so we're on track so far for this week. I really was no in to doing the weights yesterday, but I did most of it - though had to sit out a few of the tricep dips - they are hard and I hate them! Plus my step isn't really quite high enough.....
Anyway, so far so good. :)
Hi ladies!
Checking in here. I was doing well until the past couple weeks.
I've been incorporating more running into my routine, since I had registered for a 5K next month. My right foot has always given me problems due to a fracture that went undiagnosed during my tennis playing days. Now I'm having pain under my big toe on the ball of my foot during running in the same foot. Then my foot aches the entire rest of the day. I'm seeing the podiatrist tomorrow morning. He did treat me a few years ago for the same foot but a different problem. He told me at that time that it would probably flare up now and then the rest of my life or he could break it and fix it for good. :o I decided to take my chances!
I've been keeping up with the power walking, but as soon as I run I get the pain, so I've nixed that. I'm really down about this. I'm hoping my foot dr can just tape it and send me on my way. Even if I have to walk through this 5K I'm going to do it!
Hopefully I'll have better news tomorrow.

I am really proud of how well I am doing in this new routine. I've consistently worked out with a DVD every other day, and I am walking at least one of the off days. I own just two DVDs but I like them--a Shape cardio DVD and a Latin dance one. I am pretty sure they could force terrorists to confess by telling them they would have to watch me attempt the salsa and merengue until they talk. :)
I found out that my library has a selection of workout DVDs and so I checked out a Gaiam cardio workout and tried it this morning. It totally kicked my butt and I am embarrassed at how little I could do but it was fun and I will try more tomorrow or Sat.
Thanks for welcoming me.
Oh, and Alysha, my DH is naturally very strong. I would lift 2-3 days a week and he did nothing and would have these defined muscles. Maybe it is a guy thing. Of course, that was all pre-kid...

Only gone PART of the week! We had a fantastic long weekend. did one very nice hike... flowers and birds were great. then mt biked for 3 days, NOT all day. that is a tough sport. filled in with some birdwatching and walking. Mt biking is great exercise but requires some skills, not all of which I have.... or probably will EVER have. but still great fun. It's hard to adjust your reluctant brain into seeing that you can in fact ride over rocks and branches and thru loose sand and gravel and still stay upright. It's much harder than street riding, totally different activity. we don't live in a good area for mt biking, it's much better east of the mountains ( where we went) where it's dry and the vegetation is not as dense and the terrain is more rolling
we had 4 days of uncomplicated fun. today my legs get a rest and it will be upper body STS I forget what number but the first one from mesocycle 2.
Just updating - I saw the podiatrist yesterday and I do have a stress fracture in my foot. Now I am wearing a walking boot for 2 weeks until I see him again. I'm really bummed because he said no 5K for me in early July. I was really psyched about doing my first one.
I'm trying to figure out what I can do for cardio until I get the green light to walk/run again. Hopefully my in laws will open their pool soon so I can get some swim time in. Also, some of my Jillian Michaels DVDs can probably be modified so I can still get a good workout in. And of course I can still do weights on my upper body.
On a better not, Charisse is in town to visit her parents so she and her sons are coming over tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing them again! :)

Bummer, SueK! there'll be other races and you want to get that fracture healed. Bicycle? It's great cardio and totally easy on the feet although I don't think riding with a boot would be a good plan. I don't know if you can take it off temporarily while you do things? Swimming is good too. I just don't LIKE swimming, but that's just me.
Stacy I did disk #13, upper body with the chest presses. Did not get weights right. Is this the one where you did 59 pounds? Yipes, I started with 25 sand went up to 35. think I can do 40 but need to take apart some dumbbells to get the right plates.
Jessica, terrorists would kill THEMSELVES eagerly if forced to watch me do any kind of dance moves. they'd be begging for a merciful and quick demise. But keep up the good work variety works well.
charisse, being sick always makes your muscles feel like overcooked noodles. just be persistent and you'll snap back in no time.
Alysha, great work. I've been trying to do weights 3 times a week but not quite making it. That's great you can get your kiddos out there. the downside is they'll probably progress quickly ... boys especially... that they'll leave you in their dust. I didn't appreciate the benefits of being a kid way back then!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh, Sue!! I'm so sorry about your foot. What a drag! There will be another one, though. Just focus on getting it healed. Enjoy your time with Charisse -- sounds like it will be a blast!
Jessica -- Congrats on sticking to it!!! I tried a dance DVD one....it was a scary sight! If you do Netflicks, that's another good place to try out new DVDs. I've gotten a few from them and I think they've broadened their selection quite a bit since then. Never be embarassed about how little you can do -- working up to a new DVD is all part of the fun! You will be amazed at how you grow.
Valerie -- Sounded like you had a great weekend! Yes, the chest press is the one I did 59 lbs with although I don't think it was until meso 3. It was one of two 1RM tests that I actually did. I did 20 reps at 35 pounds and that's what the calculator said for me. I'll be you can do 40, too. I ws surprised at what I could do. I can't believe you're already to the meso 2 workouts! I *think* those were my favorites.
