I'll get us started this week. Embarrassingly inactive weekend. Friday was good but felt like I'd sucked on a blowtorch after our bike ride. didn't feel well saturday/ sunday, coughed a lot and slept a lot. had two dinners to go to, both were good and fun but no exercise to balance it out. still not feeling great today. DH has had bronchitis for almost 3 weeks so I'm not pushing this and maybe will do weights today and spare the heavy breathing cardio until my cough and chest feel better. He kept pushing the exercise and got way sicker than he should have. I won't repeat his mistake and will back off for a couple days. I think a light weight workout will be OK.

holiday was good, noise not as bad as previous years. It only takes one or two families nearby to make it awful for everyone but this year was the best in a while. It's not the commercial displays but kids ( adults) blowing off all sorts of explosives unexpectedly all day and half the night that gets old. with the tinder dry conditions we get nervous about fires too.

Hope everyone had a decent weekend and didn't eat too many s'mores!

I had trouble posting this morning and somehow I got two threads when I thought I didn't get one at all.

Hi Valerie:)

Our weekend was good - we hosted a pool party on Saturday. Everyone had a good time. I did exercise on Sunday but can't remember what I did?!!:o

Yesterday I walked the park - 3.5 miles in 50 mins. Good fast walk.

Today I'm taking the boys to Hershey Park - my nephew is here through Friday so we thought we'd get everyone out of the house!! So I'll be doing some walking!

Good to hear the noise wasn't too bad this year - BE CAREFUL with your health - you're smart not to push it :) Hang in there - hope you're feeling better soon!!

Hi, guys! Is it really Tuesday already???? It was a great weekend....the lake, Mexican food for brunch, a minor league game. Whew, I'm too old for that much fun! We took off yesterday, too -- good thing....three loads of laundry, the grocery store, etc. It was unusually cool here yesterday morning so we all went for a nice, long walk. It's about six miles I think. Back at work today.....

Glad you all survived the 4th! Charisse - the pool party sounded like fun and Hershey Park...will there be chocolate involved???? Sounds like you're enjoying your nephews visit.

Valerie -- Hope you're feeling better. Take it easy & rest...

I'm following my brain and not doing anything too vigorous. did not do weights yesterday, just didn't feel good. slept well last night, a little coughing but nothing bad. went to yoga this am. I'll do something today, maybe the weights I didn't do yesterday. It would be nice to escape without getting a headcold... always knocks me out. DH didn't get a headcold but he's still coughing and it's 3 weeks! he went thru 3 bottles of cough syrup and a course of antibiotics. It doesn't look like I'll get that sick. we have another short vacation this weekend into next week. we want to do the backpack we couldn't do last time cause DH was sick. Hopefully I'll be good to go.

OH, THAT Hershey! for some reason I didn't connect the name to chocolate right away. a great reason to go to a park. LOVE, LOVE chocolate. Glad everyone had a good 4th weekend. we had a sunny weekend and then it cooled down and got cloudy, even rained a bit yesterday. a big relief cause things are drier than usual this year and fire risk gets a lot of attention. hard to get people who live here, where it's generally wet, to take it seriously.

Managed to squeeze in Supersets yesterday afternoon before taking DS to tennis class. Today did Amy's Kickbox Surge. Fun workout but I'd like to learn it better. Sometimes I get a little stumped, LOL!

Valerie, I think yoga is an excellent choice right now. Here's hoping you recover faster than your DH. Take care of yourself!

I've got the bug. geez, feel like cr@p. No exercise for a while, unless I call "loading the dishwasher" exercise. Darn, I hate to be sick. Just upper respiratory but I'm resting and trying not to pass it on. I need to get over this or we'll lose another vacation to the same virus we lost the last vacation to. :(:(

Valerie -- Oh, no!! I'm sorry you feel so cruddy. :( I just hate it when doing simple chores is an endurance workout. Sure hope it doesn't spoil your trip this weekend. Take it slow.....

Claire -- Glad you enjoyed your relaxing weekend!

Did Power Hour this morning. It's been a while for that one. I always forget how many squats and lunges it has! I did wall squats with the ball in place of some of the squats and did the lunges with 10 lb dumbells. I've also been doing a DVD for knees -- it's call Strong Knees. It's led by a PT and is for strenthening and/or rehabbing knees. Wall squats is one of the exercises she recommends so I figured it was a safe substitution. I'm trying to be really careful!!

UGH Valerie - I'm so sorry!!! Take it easy!! DH is sick too - I was thinking it's been a month since I had it! He's started on a zpack. I hate being sick in the summer!!

Stacy - Your weekend sounded great :) We had a great time at Hershey - my boys have taken to the traditional rollercoasters!! The weather was beautiful and the lines small. A great day. And yes, of course there is chocolate!!:p

Claire - sometimes it's nice to relax that like.

I walked all over Hershey on Tuesday - yesterday I power walked my park 3.5 miles and today I did Pump, Jump and Jab. Although I was interrupted so many times by the phone - I should just learn to ignore it!!!

It's Thursday !!:)

I think I'm over the hump. tuesday night and wed were pretty unpleasant but I slept a lot, stayed warm and rested, lots of fluids, light food. Feel vastly better this morning although not up to exercising. Not going to do what DH did. the cough is way less, aches and fever gone. I can do some light yard work to start moving again. we want to do a backpack starting sunday so I need to be done with this.

Charisse, sorry your DH got this too. It seems unfair to get sick like this in summer. I can't ignore the phone either, too trained to pick it up regardless. I'm trying to learn to let the machine get it if I'm not expecting a specific call. Good work on getting in the workouts. chocolate is a good motivator.

Claire, relaxing is just what you needed. nothing like it to recharge the batteries.

stacy that sounds like an excellent plan for the knees. I actually like wall squats... they seem to really work the muscles above the knees well without any range of motion issues and without heavy weights. It's been long enough now that I'm starting to miss exercise. I haven't done anything significant since last friday. I may do some simple things today and see how it feels.

Valerie -Glad you're starting to feel better; hope the trend continues. Hope you're able to hike on Sunday as planned. My quads are actually sore from the wall squats! Haven't felt that in a while.

Charisse - Great weather and short lines at an amusement park? In the summer? How did you get so lucky??? It's great when they start getting into the roller coasters, isn't it? DS is pretty conservative but was talked in to riding our the medium-scary wooden coaster over spring break. He was scared but loved it. I *think* he would do it again.

Missed my run this morning.....DS was at a birthday party and didn't get home until late. Of course, I couldn't sleep. Went to bed with a headache.....still have a headache......yuck. I'm ready for a weekend!

Stacy, Sorry you missed your run... AND have a headache. What a drudge. If I stay up much beyond my usual bed time I never sleep right, like those first couple hours are the most important. I've gotten more protective of the time because (for unknown reasons) I can't sleep later in the morning! Ack. one of the delights of getting older.

Still better today but yesterday I just weeded the garden and dragged the hose around to water things and that was enough. this has been a nasty virus and I still am not thru it. Charisse, make sure your DH doesn't overdo as he gets over it. It has been suggested this might be 'swine flu" but I'm not sure there's a way to tell. As they say, some days you're the windshield, and somedays you're the bug.

hope everyone has a great weekend. I won't be around until thursday next week so I'll talk with you then.
