Are there any supper clubs in Phoenix? If not, anyone interested in starting one up?

Hi Kim,
I would be interested in starting supper club in Phoenix. I live in Scottsdale but would be willing to travel anywhere in the valley. If you are still interested in starting a club email me at ptbeth@gateway.net. I look forward to hearing from you. Beth

Hi
My husband and I are in Chandler and my sister and her husband are in Tempe. We would all be interested in starting a club(see the post regarding supper club in Tempe). Have you started yours yet?

It sounds like between this thread and the thread I started under South Tempe we have enough interest to get a club going. Should we try to get together?
It sounds like we need to start thinking about a meeting place. Scottsdale maybe around Fashion Square Mall may be medium ground for everyone. We should probably meet on a Sunday mid afternoon when it is quiet and easier to get a large table and in a restuarant that we can sit at a long
table or pull tables together vs booths. 9/16 is open for me and my husband. Let me know what you think.mickymick@home.com

My hubby and I are interested in a couples supper club. I have joined another Phoenix area supper club, but this one is not for couples. I think hubby felt kind of left out. He is a pretty darn good cook.
When I originally posted I never intended to leave
anyone out. There are a few people who are single and I would not wish to exclude them by having this supper club for couples only. I hope you all agree.

The afternoon or evening of the 16th would be fine for us as well I'm open to having single people join too as I certainly don't want to, and didn't mean to, exclude anyone. So far it looks like we already have 5 or 6 couples. In fact, if we already have 10 or 12 people, we wouldn't want too many more than that. In my Sunday night group, we have 13 members. We have averaged about 8 showing up each month and if all 13 were there, it would be tight, considering that most of us don't have kitchens big enough for that many people. Just something to consider.

I don't think it matters if the members are single or a couple. However, from my expereince with our supper club from when we lived in Tucson, 12 probably should be the maximum number. Any larger than that and it became unwieldy to coordinate.
I think September 16 is good for me also. My husband may be out of town that weekend, but I can represent both of us. Meeting near the Fashion Square sounds good. I don't know what restaurants are around there--so I'm very open to suggestions!

The 16th looks good for us to. I also did not mean to sound like I was interested in a couples exclusive deal. I think, the more the merrier. :)

I am also interested in joining. September 16th would be good. Maybe we will have enough for 2 groups. I don't really care if it is just couples, but I know my husband would like to be involved. Let me know the time and place.

I am interested, too! I will be alone, but couples or singles is fine with me. I can meet the 16th and Scottsdale Fashion square area is fine. Kim

As of right now, it looks like we have eight couples and three singles who are interested. That makes 19 people, which would be pretty unmanageable based on my (albeit limited) experience. I think we are going to have to split up into two separate supper clubs. Any thoughts? I would like to be in a couples-only group, primarily because I'm already in a group of just women, which I plan to stay in. If any of you don't mind being a part of a mixed (couples and singles) group, then let us know that so we can start splitting up into two groups. It would be helpful if everyone who has posted so far would please re-post and state whether you want to be in a couples group or a mixed couples/singles group. Sorry this is becoming so complicated!

Hi everyone,
Meeting on the 16th works well for me. I would be interested in a mixed couples/single group. I look forward to meeting everyone. Beth

Wow! I'm glad we're getting such a good response. I really have no preference over couples or singles so I would be happy to go with the group that needs people. I guess if a had a preference it would be geographic since I live way done south at Warner and McClintock.

Hello! Glad to see such a response from the valley! I'm sure this will increase dramatically as more people read the September issue. I live in northeast Mesa and would prefer a group in the east valley if at all possible. Of course, if there is only one group then I'd go anywhere. I don't care if it is couples or singles so long as my husband can be there with me! Also, I have 2 little kids (1 and 3) so nights are better than days for me. Sundays are extremely difficult to acquire babysitters for though. ;)

What a great response on this! We're flexible and happy to join whichever group will have us. We're down South as well - Ray and Dobson but don't mind a reasonable bit of travel(say Scottsdale or central Phoenix). It's me and hubby but we don't have a preference regarding couples vs. singles.
My husband and I are interested in a couples/singles supper club.
I was thinking about the Olive Garden just south of Fashion Square probably sometime around 2:30 PM. to meet on September 16th. Anyone interested please reply.

We've discovered on the Tempe Thread that there is enough interested to start a supper club for this part of the city. If anyone on this thread is interested in a group that will be meeting in the east valley, please post in that thread so that we know who you are. We have 8 so far, but would welcome a few more. We're just in the process of nailing down a time and place so it's not too late jump in!

Sept 16 at 2:30 works for me. I will plan to be at the Olive Garden just south of Fashioin Square.
Hi all,
Since the east valley supper club has found a large group of people to meet out there, I'm unsure of the number of people still interested in a Phoenix supper club. It would be helpful if those interested in the Phoenix Supper club would post a reply. Thanks.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner. I was in Michigan for a wedding over the weekend and got back late last night. The 16th at 2:30 at Olive Garden would work for us. We're in north central Phoenix. How many of us are there that will be meeting that day?

Hi Kim,
I'm still conversing with the East Valley Supper Club because I wasn't sure if there was any room in the (original) Phoenix Supper Club. I believe they are meeting on 9/15/ at the AZ Mills Food Court. My first choice is to be a part of the Phoenix Supper Club simply because I live in Phoenix. Although I'm not opposed to driving to the East Valley, once we get set up that distance for driving could be spread out. The long and short of it is I would be interested in spearheading a new group for Phoenix if the original is too large......or just being a part of the original group. I just don't want to miss out on being a part of a Supper Club Group. I can meet on Sun 9/16. Please let me know your thoughts regarding the amount of people joining.
Thanks
Lorraine

In case anyone reading this thread is still interested in the East Valley Supper Club, we decided to meet at Wildflower Bread Company (6428 S. McClintock) on Saturday, September 15 at 3:00pm. If you want to let us know you'll be joining us or if you need specific driving instructions you can look at the "Phoenix East Valley" thread.

Hi, I'm really interested in meeting on the 15th if that's still the plan. I live in Scottsdale, single, and no kids. Are you doing only couples? Please anybody--let me know. Thanks, Tammy

Hi Tammy, there are no stipulations about the East Valley group. So far it is 4 couples but singles are welcome too! For all I know, there may be times when my husband can't get off from work or whatever and I may be a single too. :) Come up to the Phoenix East Valley thread to get directions for the 15th of September. If you want, you can even check out both clubs (the Phoenix club is meeting on the 16th) to see which you would prefer. I think we are pretty evenly divided right now. Once we get established as clubs, maybe we can have a combined Phoenix and East Valley holiday party in December or something. It is nice to meet people as enthusiastic as I am about Cooking Light! :)

I'm interested in meeting with each group on the 15th and 16th. I'm not sure what the difference is in each, but would like to get involved. I'm single so whichever group is doing a combo-group. Thanks for everybody who responded to my earlier message. Look forward to meeting you all! Let me know if one group seems more suiting-I'm single and live in Scottsdale. Tammy

Hi again, Tammy, the two groups are purely geographical! It looked like it was going to be way too big to try to have just one club for the valley, so those of us that live on the east side just decided to form an East Valley group. I will repeat that there are no stipulations for either group as to anyone being single or a couple. And the reason the East Valley group chose a different meeting day from the Phoenix group was so that anyone who wanted could check out both groups to see which they would prefer. Feel free to email me at cws_123@yahoo.com if you'd like to chat some more. :)

I live in the central Phoenix area and am very interested in joining/starting a group. My weekday schedule varies and I am generally not available for evening meetings/get-togethers - weekends are generally free. Unfortunately I am not available to join in the orgainzation meeting set for 9/15.
Any one interested in a weekend group? Couples, singles, martians - makes no difference to me.

I apologize for sounding confused about a club in the Phoenix area. I've re-read the posted messages and it appears that there are two groups of folks considering a club - one plans to meet on 9/15 and one plans to meet 9/16.
I'm very interested in a Phoenix group and still unavailable to meet on either date (out-of-town business travel). To everyone meeting to explore a Phoenix group - please let me know how things develop.
Blessings,
Donna
