We're expecting a baby in about a month and based on the information I can find, the bottles we used for our daughter 3 years ago aren't recommended due to BPA levels. We originally tried the Avent, but switched to the Playtex Vent airs, and found it was easier for her tummy and helped somewhat with colic. I see that they are now marketing a BPA-free version, but they won't be available until he's a month old or so.

Any recommendations for other choices?

We used the glass Born Free and the Dr Brown's BPA free plastic ones. We hated the Dr Brown's -- too many pieces to wash! The Born Free ones were nice though -- but a bit pricey.

I think there are a lot more BPA free options now than when my son was born 15 months ago. Back then it was pretty much just the high end bottles.

We use Dr Brown's glass bottles. Yes, lots of parts to clean! :)

We use Dr. Brown's too - they were recommended to us by the lactation consultant to help with our baby's gas issues. Washing 2 parts or 10, didn't make a whole lot of difference to us! :)

We use Born Free and really like them. Watch the BRU ads because they usually have at least some bottle on sale at least once a month. Might help with the higher cost of the BPA free. Target usually also will have sales on them from time to time.

Another vote for Born Free. I am very happy with them and they are easy to clean. I actually returned all of my Avent BPA free bottles after using them for a few weeks. They leaked no matter how I closed them. It was annoying when it was breastmilk or Nutramigen but when we moved to prescription formula for $40 a can, I couldn't take it anymore.

For a while Babies R Us was letting you trade in old bottles toward a credit for new ones. I'm not sure if they still do but it can't hurt to try.

We use evenflo glass bottles. When my son was born we did not have a dishwasher. I felt better about cleaning glass by hand as far as odors, etc. They are a lot more inexpensive than the other brands that have been mentioned but they are also no frills. We never had any problems with spitting up or gas though.

Hope that helps!

This is really interesting as the Avent website indicates they won't be released until October

Thanks all!
