It's almost September!!! Wow. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Busy on our end but I managed to get in Kickbox Xtreme on Saturday. Our weather was just wonderful over the weekend so we tried to spend as much time outdoors as possible. DS had baseball practice yesterday afternoon. I went along just so I could sit outside and not feel guilty...hmmmmm....baseball practice on a gorgeous afternoon or cleaning the kitchen. Tough choice. Of course, I still have to get the kitchen done.

This morning was a couple of different step videos. I started with Amy Bento's Advanced Step Challenge 2. This one has quite a learning curve so after 30 minutes, I put in the Cardio & Weights Step Premix. A little new, a little old made for a decent workout in the end.

Charisse -- I hope you all survived the first week of school!

Valerie -- How are the weights going?

I've been MIA after a few hectic weeks. We just returned from vacation this weekend. I am happy to report that I worked out every day on vacation, except for the day we left. I got in cardio outside and took my weights with me and so I lifted as well. Knowing that I'd be on the beach in a bathing suit every day was a good motivator! :p

Today I got a good powerwalk in outside even though it was pretty darn chilly! I don't want to think of moving my workouts indoors soon!

School starts at the end of this week which means going back to 5 AM wakeups, so I can start my workout by 5:20 or so. Ugh, not looking forward to that, but I know if I don't do it in the morning, it won't get done at all!

Hi all.
I was lazy and did only a brief workout on friday, took saturday off for yard work. Sunday I did 20 bike, 35 treadmill, and 15 elliptical. We had planned a 35 mile bike ride but as we drove toward the start a fog bank moved in making visibility dicey. so back home we went and into the gym.

Stacy, I haven't been doing much with weights. we're going on vacation for two weeks on the 12th and I just can't get motivated to get sore, and then repeat it after vacation. I did GS biceps, and chest last week but am not pushing the weight. I will repeat this week but basically a holding pattern until I get a bigger block of time. did not get sore last week so will just repeat GS.
we will be hiking and (maybe) backpacking on vacation so I won't be lounging on a tropical beach! I can promise I won't do as well as SueK did and take my weights along! Swimsuits are quite the motivator, huh? I'm thinking about starting STS over at the end of sept or beginning of october.

hey charisse... how's the back to school scramble/

ACK!!! Crazy woman checking in!!

Last week I managed to get in 2 workouts (if you want to call them that) during the week.... Saturday I got in a DVD workout for 50 mins.

I think I'm going to have to do the 5am wake up's too - ARGH. With Jack's soccer schedule now from 3-5 and Sam twice a week at 6pm I'm totally messed up. I did get in a good power walk on Thursday (ran a bit too!) but I can't always count on being able to do that. Good news is I'm all over the place at school - up and down the stairs. Plus I have zero time to snack (which is good and bad). This will definately be a challenging year. I'm 1:1 with a child who is autistic.... it wasn't supposed to be 1:1 but is turning out that way. We'll see.:o

Sue - you are awesome - exercising on vaca!!! Can you give me a 5am wake up call :p

Stacy and Valerie - you guys keep plugging away!! Good for you. Stacy, do you get up early too?

Valerie - where are you guys headed for vacation?

Gotta run - will try and stay in touch!! Computer time is now limited :(

How do you go about disciplining yourselves? Actually I am not that fat but have baby fats. I wanted to get rid of it but have trouble waking up and getting some early exercise. I am busy at home because I am a work-from-home mom.

checking in to say I got busy... monday treadmill and elliptical for an hour, tuesday bike 10, treadmill 20 and then most of Muscle Max. Wednesday we did a 6-7 mile hike.
Stacy , I got fairly sore from MM. blasted squats/lunges. doesn't matter how much other stuff I do, if I don't do those regularly I get sore every time. I'm happy to be doing upper body weights again. will do more of that today, did not get sore  like my legs. I can go do an upper body workout and get only minimal soreness even after not doing anything for 6 weeks, but my legs, which get worked regularly, get as sore as heck. not fair!!

Charisse, too bad computer time is taking a hit. Fit it in when you can. we are hiking somewhere in BC, Montana, Idaho, wyoming. Prep is the same no matter where, load camper with supplies. take hiking guidebooks for all potential places. we pick out a couple hikes and head toward where the weather looks best. we'd like to backpack in Glacier NP but every time we've mentioned "Glacier NP" and "backpack" in the same sentence it rains. California is the fallback in case weather poops out in the entire northwest.

Steph08.. having to get dressed and drive somewhere (like a gym) to exercise always was a PITA for me. inconvenient. at home I can fit it in whenever and I can be cooking or doing laundry etc at the same time. you can break it into segments if you don't have a block of time. I don't like early morning exercising and prefer mid day and even afternoon but I fit it in sometime. I like the results and want to stay in shape to do fun things, like hiking, biking, skiing. Everyone else on this thread exercises in the morning ( Charisse, Stacy, SueK)but any time you can fit it in works, even if you do it in small chunks when you have time. Evening exercise doesn't work for me cause I can't sleep afterwards but lots of people do that too. We're a tenacious bunch!

This week is just flying by! I can't believe it's Thursday already! Sticking to it, though....Tuesday did Amy Bento's All PUmp Xtreme Chest & Shoulders, Wednesday Kelly Coffey-Meyer Kickbox & Yoga Abs & Today All Pump Xtreme Back, Biceps & Triceps with the core work from Kelly's Kickbox DVD. Tomorrow will be cardio but not sure what yet...

Sue -- Great job getting your workouts in on vacation! I can't believe you took weights with you. That's dedication! I hear you about the early wakeups. I'm a 4:45 am girl, myself.

Charisse -- I'm totally messed up, too. Kyle has baseball on Mondays & Sundays and tennis on Tuesdays & Thursdays. We don't even have the baseball game schedule yet but I've already learned that if I don't plan ahead, I don't stand a chance. Your school year does sound challenging! Hope things work out for the best.

Valerie -- Ha! Those legs exercises get me every time. Last week I did one of the STS plyo leg workouts and felt it for days! Glad the upper body work is going well but that's weird how you don't get sore. Cool that you can be flexible with your vacation plans. I know you'll have a great time where ever you end up.

Steph08 -- Welcome! I hope you'll join us. I'm a working mom, too, so I know how busy you are! I have to get my workouts in early or they just don't happen. I certainly don't always love getting up but I love it when my workout is done! I workout at home using DVDs or the treadmill. I use a variety of workouts and instructors so I don't get bored. I love the results, need the energy and health benefits so it's not an option. I consider it my "me" time.

Ready.............:D

I got up at 5am Tuesday and did Burn and Shape and then I power walked 2 1/2 miles at the park during Sam's soccer practice.... nothing Wednesday.......

AND this morning got up at 5am and did Pump, Jump and Jab!:D:D I plan on walking tonight as well. I wasn't going to walk but it's such a great stress reliever to put on those headphones and crank the music - I then start walking fast to the music!!

It feels great to be done at 6am - I've alloted enough time for me to get "my" time in with my coffee and newspaper before everyone else wakes up. Priority in my life :p

We have NO plans for labor day weekend - Woo hoo!!

Stacy - Wow girl! Great job with your workouts!!! Does Kyle do a winter sport as well? I love the fall and the soccer games but I always enjoy the break we get when mid November comes around!

Valerie - Ohhhhhh your vacation sounds heavenly!! One of these days we are coming out west! One of our end units in 4th grade is a review of national parks - I always drool over Glacier NP ;)

Steph08 - welcome!! Do you have kids? As it is, I'm like Val. I have to exercise at home and squeeze it in. Also planning ahead and sticking to it - even if it's 15 mins. At least it's something! We're here if you'd like to join our group :)

Tee hee... I'm here to report I didn't exercise ( formally) yesterday. Got busy with a couple projects and time got away from me, so today I need to work hard. likely treadmill and Gym style upper body.

I know I'll be working out at home saturday and sunday. we make a policy of NEVER going anywhere on labor Day weekend. people and traffic get too frantic trying to enjoy the last holiday weekend of summer. we are having another couple over for dinner on sunday and if the weather is decent enough we'll do a bike ride one day. Our weather is getting distinctly fall-like on saturday..... sounds wet and windy for the first time in a long time.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!
