Geez Louise!!! I am so sorry, Stacy, to leave you in the lurch!!! I see that Valerie is on vacation!!

Argh... it's been a crazy 2 1/2 weeks... I just started back exercising. I did get some walking in but nothing great.

So after 2 nights of dancing to Dave Matthews in Philly :D I'm back on track!

I did Fat Blasting Cardio on Monday, walked Tuesday and Jump, Pump and Jab today. Hopefully this will help as we are headed up to State College for the PSU/Iowa game on SAturday. Family, food and drinks!

Stacy - I'm sure you've done your share of exercising - hope all is well.:)

Hi, mind if I join?

I don't think I am an enthusiast, but I will try to be. I have some days where eating my food brought from home is not an option (which means the food I eat has lots of calories), so I need to balance that out with calories.

Tonight, I plan to do Pilates and ride my bike. I decided that I would go to the gym and lift weights on even-numbered days, so let's see if I do that tomorrow.

May I join? :) Ok, back in 2006 I became a health nut, working out an hour a day (five, sometimes six days a week!) and eating a healthy diet within a calorie range that would allow me to lose 1-2 pounds a week. Ultimately I lost 45 pounds and was at an ideal weight.

Found losing weight was easy, maintaining it was hard! Eventually I fell off track and have struggled to get back on a consistent work out program, and I'm now back to above what I weighted before I lost the 45 pounds. :( My thighs rub together when I walk, and I'm getting fat rolls on my back below my shoulder blades. I have a gut that probably makes me look like I'm expecting and I can't walk up a small flight of stairs without being out of breath, and any home improvement project that requires a lot of bending down and standing back up (hanging trim, peeling wall paper, etc) will leave my upper legs feeling like they were run over by a Mack Truck the next day. :o

Anyhoo, I'm giving working out another shot. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning of this week I did 20 minutes on my elliptical and 10 minutes on my treadmill. I thought that was a nice start. Today I decided to do strength training, doing various upper body, abdomen and lower body exercises, using dumb bells and an exercise ball for some of them. I could really "feel the burn" - :p It felt good!

The goal is to finish off the week doing more treadmill and elliptical tomorrow morning, and hopefully next week I can increase my daily workout by 15 more minutes each day.

How long do you have to do something before it becomes habit? I'm thinking they say two weeks....

Oh, and I've been eating more fruits and vegetables and trying to watch my calorie intact, hopefully I can expand on that too.

Just following up.....I feel SO SORE this morning!!! I actually got up early and took a hot bath in hopes of soothing my muscles. So I took the day off from exercising, not wanting to over do it. This is what I hate about getting back on track, I'm not good about easing my way into things, I have to jump right in at full speed. BUT, this is exactly why I'm wanting to get back into it as well - so I will get in shape and won't be so weak.

Jennifer & Shugness -- Welcome! We'd love to have you join us. We're not usually so quiet but I think things have been a little topsy turvy for all of us!!!

Charisse -- Good to see you! Dave Matthews sounds like fun! Great job getting back on track. While I'm still struggling with our busy schedule, I was doing just fine with my workouts until the stomach bug hit. Yuck! Down for the count for a couple of days and a couple more without the energy. But....drum roll....today was the day! Didn't want to do too much so I did 30 minutes of Amy's kickbox surge and 30minutes of yoga. Felt really good to move!

Jennifer -- Did you get your weights in yesterday?

Shugness -- I totally agree with you that maintaining it is harder than losing it! Although I've not been doing too good on the losing end lately, either. A little soreness feels good but not when it's too much! A little stretching might help. I've always heard that 30 days makes a habbit.

I'll try check in again this weekend! Happy Friday, everyone!

I want to join! Do we have to exercise at home exclusively to be an enthusiast? I like to go to the gym mostly but sometimes I cannot make it due to time constraints and I like to do some small things around the house. Unfortunately I don't have any free weights to do benches, squats, etc. but I can get some quick exercises in like pushups and crunches.

I think that going to the gym or at least doing it in some social atmosphere is the key to a successful workout routine - and of course, cooking and eating right is probably more important than exercise to keep your weight down.

Anyway, I recently moved so I got my gym membership back up and running now. I had to take a couple of months off until I could get everything running around here and I'm so ready to go back. I went the other day for the "first" time and got worn out doing only a fraction of what I normally do!

srahndennis (Sarah?) - No, I did not get weights in. I've been awful, both in eating and workouts.

Shugness - I feel like I look like I am expecting, too. When I look at some of those photos of celebs with a little bit of a tummy and the gossipers say "Is she expecting - look at that bump", I think I'm glad nobody is looking at me like that 'cuz I look worse.

Restaurant-city - Yay for getting the gym membership going again.

Yesterday, I (almost) fasted and I feel so much better. I really needed to go give my body a cleansing and I wasn't hungry at all, so I know I ate WAY too much the day or too before.

This afternoon is a busy one for me - clean the house a little, ride my bike into town to catch a little of the AIDS walk, go to the gym for weights, Pilates and grocery shop/make my meals. Let's see if I actually do this.
