Good monday morning to everyone.
I'm getting back on program. last week I did the entire GS series and coremax 3 times. Saturday, Muscle Max... that has a great core section. Legs only got very minimal soreness in comparison to the GS leg that about killed me last week. Sunday bike, treadmill, and coremax 2. today not determined. I have a morning appt so will need to work out later today.
Stacy... hope you're feeling better and have illness and other things under control. Charisse.. same for you. Shugness, hope you were able to keep up your workouts thru the week.

Hi! I am new to the forum and am looking to start running myself. I have always been pretty active, going to the gym and all that but I have never been a very good runner. Any suggestions on how to get started?

Alternate feet and you'll be OK. Tee hee, just kidding!
I run on a treadmill regularly. If off for a while due to illness or injury, start slowly. Run a bit, walk a bit, run some more. I'd do 20-30 minutes and try to make the running a bigger part of the time by increasing gradually. aim for several times a week. I know some people only run, but I personally think it's better to mix in other activities to keep a better balance. Don't worry about speed or uphill etc. If you like written records, mark your calendar with time and distance so you can track your progress. and check in here to see what the rest of us are doing.
You should get decent running shoes designed for running, that fit the way your feet work. not all athletic shoes are suitable. I've had good luck with www.roadrunnersports.com for getting proper fit and good selection.

Fellow new runner here. I started out on the treadmill with Cardio Coach
Now that I can go outside I've been doing Podrunners interval programs. It's free and you can download it off itunes or HERE (http://www.djsteveboy.com/podrunner.html)
Couch to 5k is also a good program.
And if there's a Road Runner Sports near you get fitted for shoes there. they film your feet while you run on a treadmill. Best thing I've done.

I'm getting thru the GS series again this week, did both upper body workouts, do legs today. I'm combining it with 45 min of cardio, some combo of treadmill, elliptical, and bike. also did coremax 3x this week. I'm doing coremax 2, the one with the ball roll ins with pikes. can't do all of them yet but am managing 3-4 and then finishing with regular roll-ins. I increased the upper body weight on the second run.
I should be on-target to start STS Nov 1. my first time thru I did most disks twice because of unfamiliar moves. If needed I'll do that again this time. I kept my printed work sheets and had recorded weights used on those so I have a good record to compare to and maybe won't need as many repeats to get the weights right.

Okay -- Finally started feeling better! I did a 30 minute workouts on Wednesday and Thursday -- KCM Kickbox and Muscle Definition. Would you believe I'm sore???? Just crazy.
Valerie -- Glad you've been keeping pace (no pun intended!). I know I won't be ready to start STS Novemeber 1. The way I'm going, I just might wait for Shock Cardio to be released and then start. I'll just be here to cheer you on!
I will get a workout in tomorrow!

Still running MW and today. I added yoga to the mix too. Tues, Thurs and Sat are weight training and walking.
Shock Cardio? I have to go google that!

Stacy ... so glad you've rejoined the living! Must be really tough when the whole family gets sick at once. DH and I usually get sick in sequence... that has its disadvantages too.
You need to listen to your body when you get sore, it's telling you to slow down, it's not back to normal yet. Hope next week is a better week!

Managed to do KCM's Athletic Step this morning. A little over 30 minutes but about all I could do. I think I'm going to take it slow again next week. I just don't have the stamina/energy for the longer workouts right now.
Getting serious about the kitchen remodel! I've been interviewing contractors and researching appliances. Exciting but exhausting at the same time.
