SO brought home a nice big watermelon the other day. Imagine my surprise when I cut into it and it was yellow!
After asking around, several people are familiar with these. I had never seen one.
It tasted really good, just like a regular watermelon if I closed my eyes. Anyone else had one of these?

I think Mrs. Reber made a post about it about a week ago.
I've never had a yellow watermelon, although I think I saw one at the store just the other week.
I'm glad to hear it tasted delicious.
Sure. They aren't as popular in most grocery stores, but yellow watermelons are found at the produce stands. One day, I went in toour local Kroger though, and all they had gotten in that shipment was yellow watermelons.
I hadn't had any for years (don't remember seeing them in CA), but had a big slice at the Hempstead (TX) Watermelon Festival last year. They were very good, but I do think they have a little more subtle flavor. Pretty in salads too, and they'd make a margarita that might seem less dainty to the men folk.

I don't know how I missed the other thread. Sorry. It was really good though!
I missed it too. I keep seeing more and more references to threads I am missing. Is it just me?

I suppose that was a surprise.
But yes, I've had yellow watermelon. Yummy. Sweeter, even, if you ask me.
I first had yellow watermelon in Israel about 20 years ago. That was the first time I'd seen them. However, in recent years I've seen them locally. I remember being impressed by the thin skin (rind area). And it was very sweet and juicy.

Yep, I did have a post about this. DH brought the melon home. I was wondering if there was a name for it, but I guess it's just a yellow watermelon.
The threads do move really really fast these days with all the members we have now. I can barely keep up!!
