Hey -

Is anyone interested in starting a club in the Charleston area? Or is there already an existing group?

Let me know!

Michele

Thi s is so cool. I just read about this in my recent Cooking Light subscription.

What does the Supper Club do exactly?

I live in North Charleston.

Take care. Sherry

I also wanted to add that I know some women from my church who might be interested also.

Take care. Sherry

Sherri,

A Supper Club consists of a group of people within a certain area that get together to share and cook a variety of different dishes. Once a group is formed, they decided how often they will meet, where they will meet and what items will be made (sometimes based on a theme).

These boards have some good information about existing groups and what they have done in the past to make it successful.

Thanks,
Michele

I am very interested in the Supper Club.

Let me know if how you want our first meeting to be. I read you should meet in a restaurant or public place first.

I'm very excited to hear from you. Sherry

Michelle,

I'm not sure if you are interested or not but my church has a dinner every Wednesday night at 5:30 in Goose Creek. Some of the women who might be interested in participating would also be there. If you wanted to meet there, let me know. The cost is $3.00 per person or $10.00 for a family (no limit on how big). We always have pretty good stuff. This week we're having lasagna, salad, garlic bread and dessert.

The address is below so you can get driving directions from yahoo maps.

Metro North Church
109 Central Avenue
Goose Creek, SC 29445

Just let me know if you want to meet someplace else.

Take care. Sherry

Alright! My husband and I are tranplants to Charleston and would love to join / start a supper club. We used to belong to one in Seattle. I'm the planner in the family so I'd probably be the one to come to the first meeting.
There are all kinds of ideas and variations we could do with this. Why don't we try to get together after Labor Day? I work 8-5 M-F, so evenings and weekends work best for me. I'm interested in belonging to a spouse/partner inclusive club. Let me know what you think and we can set a date!

Hi everyone!
I'm new to Charleston and also new to this forum, but I've been reading Cooking Light for a while and I think the supper club idea sounds like alot of fun. I'm defenitely in on whatever we decide to do - I think having a first meeting at a restaurant sounds like a good idea. The week after Labor Day weekend is going to be a little hectic for me, but what about the week after that? Maybe the night of Weds. the 12th or Thurs. the 13th? That would also give a little time for anyone else who might want to join. Let me know what you all think about these dates, and more importantly about which restaurant we should go to! :) -Alli

Wednesdays work well for me, better than Thursdays. I'm looking forward to getting this club off the ground! I live in West Ashley but don't mind driving. Any ideas of where to meet?
Looking forward to cooking with you all and making new friends!

Oh my.....I hadn't checked the board this afternoon and look what happens......new posts! Yea, I'm excited!

As it turns out, I'm also new to the area and my original thought was that this would be a great forum to meet new people in the area. JenM....I'm fine with whoever comes to the meetings/dinners......the more the merrier!

I'd be up for meeting at a neutral location to meet each other and talk about planning further "activities". Unfortunately, I am just starting both a new job and school next week and expect out of town guests the following weekend. My dilemma is that I will probably not know my work schedule for the suggested dates until next week sometime.

I will understand if you guys want to go ahead and make plans to meet. I will try to make it to whatever meeting schedule is agreed upon.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll meet at some point, and I really look forward to that! I'll be checking for your responses, so please keep me updated with any plans!

Cheers,
Michele

Hey Michelle,
As you are the one who initiated this whole thing, I think you should be in on it from the get go. Good luck with school and a new job, that's a lot to absorb in a short period of time. Let the rest of us know when you can get away from the rest of your obiligations and we can make something work. Any ideas on where we can have our first meeting? Somewhere casual but not too loud so we can all hear each other.
Really looking forward to getting this off the ground and meeting you all.:D

Okay Cookies,
The 12th of September is rapidly approaching. Does this date work for everyone else? I was thinking that a coffee house might be a good place for our first meeting, maybe the new Starbucks on the corner of Calhoun and East Bay (by the library). They have plenty of room, not too noisy and plenty of free parking. They're open late if we wanted to meet around 7:30 or 8:00 in the evening.

If the evening of the 12th doesn't work, should we try for a Saturday morning? I'm excited about getting this group going.

Hi guys!

I can't believe it myself, but I'm actually free the evening of the 12th! So, if you all would still like to meet, that works for me!

As for a place to meet, I can only suggest places in Mt. Pleasant since this is the only area that I'm at least somewhat familiar with. How about one of the places in the Town Center? Or, if it's more convenient, we could meet somewhere closer to downtown like Calif. Dreamin' or the Crab Shack (I've not been to either of these places).

Please RSVP as soon as possible so we know who can make it and if you have any other suggestions on where to meet, that would be great! As far as times, I'm good anytime after 5pm. How about sometime between 6-7?

Thanks!
Michele

Michele & others,
Why don't we shoot for California Dreaming on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 6:30. I think they'll have plenty of room if we need a big table. I think for safety's sake we should sent the rest of the info via e-mail. If anyone else is interested and can join us, please let us know so we can plan on it.
Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday.

To those who couldn't make the first meeting but are still interested, please send me an e-mail and I can fill you in on the details. I think this is going to be a lot of fun and good food is bound to happen!

Hello Stephanie,

Well, sadly the group never really got off the ground as only 2 people were able to make it to the first meeting (myself and another) and after that, no one replied to our emails about additional activities.

Sooooooo......that's that. Of course, I'd still be interested in starting one......I know some others that may be too (now that I've had the chance to meet some more people in the area).

Let me know what you think.........

Hi there!
I live in Summerville and belonged to a supper club in the Orlando area. They are so much fun and I would like to meet new people in the Charleston area. Would you be interested in trying again?
The supper club I belonged to before would meet the second Saturday night every month. We would pick a theme and then each couple was responsible for one course and the wine to pair with that course.
The club had four couples and each couple would take turns hosting. Does this sound like it would work for anyone out there in the vacinity?

I would be interested in trying again. I am pretty slack in the organising part. Sounds like your group in Orlando would have been fun.
Is anyone else out there interested?
