OK!

I am enlisting you wonderful people to help me out!

In October my DH and I are hosting a soiree at a dance club. Of course the fun part for me (Food, of course!) is restrictive due to space and budget.

The theme is Heaven in Hell (it's a costume party for good vs. evil)

Restrictions:

Limited Counter Space
Finger Foods that fit on a small plate
Refrigerated or room temperature
Easily transportable

I would love to hear from creative types as far as appetizer ideas...my first thought for a "sweet" type thing was Ambrosia but I don't even know what that is :p lol! Can someone help me out here? I also thought about something spicy etc..

I want to impress despite my limitations so I'm hoping for something other than cheese/crackers and fruit.

I'm also going to pour through the search links though we have a theme here so I thought it might be fun to brainstorm :D

In keeping with the theme how about angel food cake or deviled eggs (or devil's food cake?
Isn't Ambrosia just the classic mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, coconut, marshmellow, salad? I have the classic family recipe at home for that but I think it is just 1 cup of each tossed with a cup of sour cream.

ok now that i know what it is...i think i like the angel food cake and devils food cake idea better :p

keep those ideas going. I only want one sweet type thing ..so I need finger food ideas in addition to deviled eggs :)

TIA!

Spicy appetizers might be good (you know..."hotter than..."). Just an idea. I had some wonderful jalapeno poppers last week that were a bit different.

Slice Jalapeno open and remove seeds. Stuff with goat cheese. Wrap with a piece of bacon or procuittuo. Bake/grill until peppers are browned and cheese is melted.

They'll be fine served at room temperature, too. Yummmmm!

Maybe procuitto (sp) wrapped asparagus as pitchforks? Lemme know if you want the recipe.

Maybe you could bake a baguette that's a bit misshapen to be angle "wings". You could do all kinds of different spreads for that...
