Please recommend yours! We are approaching the time that we need a high chair and my mom is going to get one for Amelia but I have no idea what I want/need. I've decided against the kind that attach to the table so we are looking for a stand alone one.

TIA!

We have this Graco 4 in 1 and really like it. It is easy to clean and easy to grow with. Only downside is that it doesn't fold down do it is not ideal for tight spaces.

I had a chicco mama and really liked it. I especially liked how I could pull it up to the table when my son was older and he could eat with us.

We got the kind that strap onto a kitchen chair and it was great for us. Didn't take up extra space, easy to clean, and very reasonably price. When my son got older we removed the tray and it worked as a booster.

I ditto dana's suggestion. the kind that straps to the seat is very easy to clean and doesn't take up a lot of space. best of all it can be used without the tray when the child is older -- you can pull the child right up to the table and he/she can feel more a part of the family meal.

We have a Graco Mealtime, like this one:

My DD sat in there until she was about 17 months old and then wanted to sit like a "big girl" with us at the table. We have a high, pub-style dining table though, so we got her this booster seat:

I have no complaints on the high chair, except that its huge and took up a lot of room. The booster we LOVE because we can just fold it up and take it with us when we travel.

Good luck!

We had just a basic Fisher Price model. It was easy to clean and nothing fancy. I'd absolutely suggest that you get one with wheels that will lock into place. We liked being able to wheel Macy in to another room, etc. It's also good to get one that folds up.

The only thing we didn't like about it was that it had those straps like they have on strollers/car seats, etc., and it was inevitable that there would be food trapped in that we couldn't get out (please tell me this is not just in my house ...)

If you're not wedded to the idea of a high chair, we loved our booster seat because it strapped into one of our existing kitchen chairs and didn't add another piece of furniture to the room. We live in a very small house so it was perfect for our needs. Just be sure to put a towel underneath to protect the chair finish. When our son was tall enough, we set aside the trays and he ate with us pulled up at table height.

Here (http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Healthy-Care-Deluxe-Booster/dp/B0000DEW8N) is the model we had, and recently passed on to another family, it held up wonderfully for more than 3 years. For cleaning, we wiped it down at every meal and periodically put the whole thing into a hot bathtub to soak before scrubbing. As a bonus, it folds up compactly for travel. HTH!

Add us to the Fisher Price booster seat club. We used/ still use the same one as Val. We used it for the same reasons as Dana, Val & Kathryn.

We have a Fisher Price Healthy Care high chair (not sure if it's still made- we got ours in '05). I like it because the seat height is adjustable, so we can use it as a standalone high chair or remove the tray and wheel it over to the table. The seat cover is machine washable and both the tray and seatback have one-handed operation which is nice when you're baby wrangling.

Jori- not sure if it's possible on your chair, but I take the straps and buckles off and run them through the washer...

We also have the Fisher Price booster and have gotten tons of use out of it, both at home and on vacations. I'd buy one of those even if you also go for a standalone chair!
