Have any of you ever visited the COOKING LIGHT on the Move" truck? If so, what is it all about?

I visited it summer '98 & it was GREAT. They had prepared food to taste, recipe cards for the taking (there WAS a limit but it was generous), manufacturers had magnets, coupons, etc, and there were people handy to answer questions.

Thanks Marsha, I was wondering if I should go when they are in my area & now I will be sure to make it.

Does anyone know if it is coming to the Los Angeles area? Every time I check the schedule, the stops all appear to be in the east and southeast.

I stopped looking at the schedule. It never stops in the Pacific Northwest, where I live. I agree with you, Cyn, the stops all appear to be in the east and southeast.

Might go to the East, but I never see it stop near me either! The closest has been about an hour and a half away from me. I don't think I want to deal with weekend/summer shore traffic to get there, either, which will only make my trip longer. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif

The CL On the Move truck was fun. There were a lot of recipe cards to choose from. My daughter and I visited it in Atlanta. It was there for the CL GrandStand weekend April 99.

Cyn... I believe that they have already been in the south west. I live in San Diego and they were here a couple of months ago. I think they headed your way next.

Not to sound negative... but how were any of you treated at the tour? My 3 year old son and I visited, and were impressed with the information, samples and recipes, but were very unimpressed with the girls that were there. We did not have a single greeting other than "Please eat the food outside of the truck, I'm tired of cleaning up when things get dropped and stepped on". A few moments later an elderly woman entered the truck with a potato chip sample and promptly dropped it and stepped on it. She attempted to clean it up and was waved away by a girl with a heavy sigh saying "See... that's why I told you to eat outside."

I was handed a plastic bag upon entry and told to "try to limit myself to one sample". I was tempted to offer her my bag as I exited to see if she wanted to check it!

Anyway... enough complaining. I enjoyed everything the tour supplied and would definitely suggest that you visit if the opportunity arises. I would have been happier if I would have had a smile or two from the employees. My little boy was behaving very well (for a change!) and was nervous that he would do something wrong and that the lady would "be upset with him". http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif I emailed Cooking Light about this and have never heard back from anyone.
Sorry to be so negative, but I just had to had my two cents!

Going through the CL On the Move truck is better than being a kid in the candy store!! Everyone should check it out.

Ok... today I've got two more cents! To set matters straight I got an email from Julie in the editorial department today who apologized for my not receiving a response to my original email - she sent one, I just didn't get it. She re-sent a very nice response, and I just thought everyone should know.

Thanks Cooking Light (and Julie)! It makes all the difference!

I live in Southcentral PA and was wondering if the truck was going to get to my state at all. Because they only post one month at a time, and I hadn't seen any for PA since I started visiting the website, I emailed them.

For those interested, I was told that the truck will be in Fairless Hills 9/10-9/11 and in Philadelphia 9/12-9/15. Just sent them email asking for specific locations for Philadelphia. I don't know where Fairless Hills is, but can get to Philadelphia within 40 minutes, depending on location.

It would be nice if CL could post out the schedule beyond a month. Helps with scheduling if interested in meeting up with it.
