We just bought a home in May and there is an apple tree out back FULL of apples but is heavy and dipping/tipping (That is another story)

How do I identify what type of apple tree it is? They were green, are now red/green and are about the size of a baseball at the smallest.

They were more sour when green but that is probably true of most apples, right?

What other ways can I tell. I would love to bake with these if they are the right type.

debvc,

What if you brought an apple along w/ part of a branch to your local nursery, (one that sells fruit trees), I bet they could help you out. Another thought is perhaps the produce manager at your locat grocer might be able to identify the apple for you.

Good Luck, Ann

You can do a search on the internet and find some sites with pictures of apples. Here is one, but it is limited:

Taking an apple and possibly a piece of a branch to a nursery or grower would be the best bet. You might also check with the seller's realtor to see if you could contact the seller and find out if they know what kind it is.
