I started the process of making Oreo Chunk Cookies and when I got done with the dough (prior to adding the Oreos), I noticed the consistency wasn't quite right. I realized that I left out 1 1/2 c sugar (half brown, half regular).
What happens if I add the sugar now - will it affect the cookies?
Thanks!

At this point, I don't think you have anything to lose. ;) I would add the sugars and probably refrigerate the dough before baking. I really don't know how they will turn out though. They may not be the same, but I bet they will still be good. Good luck!

I was in the same position once. I added the sugars, and it didn't work. More like I added to my frustration. Save the Oreos for a better batch.

Oh, I didn't see that she hadn't added the Oreos yet. Well, that's a bummer that it didn't work for you!

Me too. Seems the butter and sugar must be creamed together for the chemistry to work.:(

I didn't add the Oreos....I tried making two and mushed in some Oreos (before adding the extra sugar)....they were okay....but definitely weren't right.
The second batch I made I thought I did the right way and they didn't come out the way they normally do either.
This just isn't my night...
note, I did cream *some* of the sugar and butter...just not all of it...
Sadly, I have the bag of oreos, but not enough dark brown sugar to start over..
