View Full Version : Posting Photos?

I just posted a photo on the Other Stuff forum to show my kitchen tiles, and the image came up much smaller than the jpg appears on my computer, so that the pattern isn't really visible. Any idea what I did wrong? Normally if I choose a file and upload it on other boards or forums it looks the same as it does on my screen. Thanks!

Use Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/) or some other image hosting site.

But that's such a pain! I was tickled to see that I could just upload directly from my computer on this forum - one-stop uploading, in other words. No idea why it seems to shrink the image with a direct upload?

Most vBullentin forums require you to host photos on another site because it takes a lot to bandwidth to host photos and it would slow forums down to a crawl if everyone posted full sized images.

So....you have a choice.....quick and easy images that are small or hosted images that are large enough to see. ;)

Aha, is THAT how it works? Thanks!

Okay, that still doesn't work. How do I set up the link so that the picture shows? This seems different than the other two forums I use that support Photobucket.

Let's try this:

I figured it out by going to View Source to see how others on that thread had done it. That really shouldn't have been necessary, though!

This (http://tinypic.com) might be a little easier than going the whole Photobucket route. Photobucket also hosts this site and you don't have to register and can upload 1 or even several pix at a time. Just upload, copy the appropriate url and you're good to go.

That looks similar, and since I already have a Photobucket account it probably wouldn't save me any steps, but that's a good idea for someone who doesn't. Thanks!

I have a photobucket account but like using tinypic when I just want to post a quick pic and don't want to save it to an album. Quick and easy. YMMV -- it's all good.
