So the other day I was at Costco and I picked up a bottle of acai berry juice. I remember reading that acai berries were on the list of SUPER foods, it was on sale so I went for it. Does anyone else drink this/use this? I'm not sure if it really is a health benefit or just a bunch of hooey!

I bought that bottle, too, mainly because I'd just watched that Good Eats episode where he puts it in his smoothies (and has lost 50 lbs.) I kind of doubt any fruit juice is worth what we paid, but figured I'd give one bottle a shot. I think I'd need to have some daily, long term, for the benefits and I don't see myself buying it all the time because it doesn't add much flavor or anything. But it's fun putting a shot of some expensive elixir in my smoothie for now!

I've also heard that it's a "super food", but it's extremely expensive. I couldn't afford to drink it on a daily basis, that's for sure.

I think I read that it's good for weight loss. So when I went to get a box of EmergenC, I bought the acai berry one. When I take it, it seems to give me heart palpitations. I realize this is no double-blind study. But there seems to be enough of a correlation to make me stop using it.

I don't know how what I got in my powdered supplement compares to what you are getting in the liquid, so take my words with a grain of salt.

Good luck and let us know how things go. Man, I'd love to have a magic elixir to make things all better (and help the pounds fall off). ;)

IMHO, Acai berries are the most over-hyped food/supplement of the decade. Some of the claimed benefits are ridiculous. Red grapes, pomegranates, and blueberries have more antioxidants.

I think they make you lose weight by lightening your wallet so that you have less money to spend on food.

Yeah..this was kind of my thinking. I'll finish the bottle but I don't think I'll buy again.

I tried the juice once and didn't really like the taste of it.

I think it was Dr. Oz who raved about it.

I prefer to eat fruit instead of drinking juices. But, I love smoothies because you still get the fiber
