I was wondering how do you store your brown rice? I keep it in a Pyrex container in my pantry. Do you refrigerate or freeze when you are storing it for awhile?
I buy it in the bulk section so no package to refer to.
Thanks,
Mine goes into the freezer.

I keep mine in a sealed bag in the pantry. I've never had a problem with it.

Refrigerator.
If I had more freezer space, I would not be opposed to it going there.
We used to go through it fairly quickly so fridge was fine.

After a bout with pantry moths, I now freeze all my grains for a week after I purchase them to kill off anything that might be in there. I have way too many grains to keep them all in the freezer, so I move them to glass or plastic storage containers. Since I started freezing things, I haven't had any trouble with pests.

Thanks everyone. Into the fridge it goes. I have such limited cabinet space (many of you would be amazed) -- that its a win-win all around. Happy to free up a bit of room too.
If I stock up on the rice, I'll keep some in the freezer. And, wouldn't hurt to freeze for a few days and then put in the frig too.

We keep all of our grains and beans in gallon glass jars on open shelves. We bought the jars years ago (early '80s) from various restaurants. We were also able to buy French canning jars that are just under 1 gallon size (they're in liters but I forget the actual size) to store grains and beans in This has worked well for us for all these years. The only problem we've ever had was with one purchase of organic brown rice. The rice came with bugs, but we didn't realize it right away. Yuck!
