Hello!

I live downtown Chicago in the Bucktown area and I am very interested in joining/starting a supper club. Please let me know if anyone else is interested -- I would prefer to stay in the downtown neighborhoods.

Hello --

Re. Chicago Supper Club...how often would you like to get together? Once a month? Alternate houses? Let me know if you already have certain ideas you'd like to incorporate.

Thanks!

I think we should meet once a month alternating house each meeting. Should we do weekends or weekdays? I would do either but weekdays could be fun.

I would also be in favor of once a month, alternating each person's house. I think possibly during the week could be fun--maybe Thurs. nights? What do you think? How many people do we have interested in a downtown Chicago Supper Club?

Hello,

I think once a month alternating houses would be great! It looks like there are other people interested in a city club from the other Chicago postings. I don't know about everybody else, but seating at my place is a little limited. For a cocktail party there is plenty of room, but for a sit down dinner I don't have much seating.

I would prefer to participate in a smaller group - say around 10 people or less. I am cool with meeting anytime - Thursday evenings are good with me.

I have some ideas for dinners but would love to get together with everyone else to discuss. We should meet to get things rolling. I will be having my computer upgraded within the next week, and will be without for a few days so I may not be able to respond. I am not available the weekend after Labor Day, but as of now any other weekday evening or weekend is fine. What do you guys thinks?

Can those interested in the Chicago Supper Club meet Tuesday, September 11th at 7:30 pm at Cafe DeLuca on Damen in Bucktown? We could all meet to discuss how we want to set this up. I will wear a straw hat so everyone knows at least someone to look for!! Let me know if this works for everyone.

Hi

I would be very interested in the supper club-I think the idea of meeting up and discussing details beforehand would be great! Is everyone able to make it on the 11th?

The 11th works for me.

I'm very interested in your plans for a northside/city supper club. What's the status? Is there still room for another member? I unfortunately cannot join you on Sept. 11, but I'd love to hear the details and plans.

Thanks for the info....Carole

Meeting on Sept. 11 is great for me. Thursdays once a month sounds good. I'd also like to keep it small. I can fit between 6-8 people in my kitchen. I guess we'll decide details on Sept. 11.

I live in the West Loop and would love to join a cooking club that met downtown. I can't make September 11th because its my birthday, but would love to host/attend future dinners. I know two others that are interested. They take cooking classes with me at The Chopping Block on Webster. One lives in Lincoln Park and the other is in Bucktown.

I would also like to join the supper club, if there's still room! I live just south of Old Irving Park. I have a friend who is also interested. She lives in Lakeview.

September 11th works for me too. Hope to see you (you all) there. Monthly seems ok to me. And like everyone else in the city (where sq. footage is expensive), I do not have expensive room for dinner parties. Maybe someone will come up with a brilliant idea.

Robink

I meant expansive room, not expensive room. Of course if I had more room it would be more expensive!

Hello! Everyone interested in joining a supperclub in the Chicago downtown/Lincoln Park/Bucktown area please come on Sept. 11th (see above email) and we can discuss details then. I agree that we might want to keep it small, 6-8 per group. If we have more than that, we can always split into a few groups. How does that sound to everyone?

Hi all-

I'm glad that it seems we're all living in small city apts so were all concious of the space crunch.! I am very excited about joining the group as the majority of my friends don't have such an interest in cooking. See you all on the 11th!

I am excited there are so many people interested in the supper club. I have just (one month) moved into my new Lakeview home and would love to get to meet so many people equally interested in FOOD. Look forward to meeting many of you on the 11th. Libby

I live in Old Town and would be interested in joining a supper club. I cannot make it to the September 11 get together but would love to be included in the groups that you put together. Would someone let me know how the meeting goes?

I would love to join in the band wagon. Not sure if I can make it on the 11th, but I will try. I live in the Old Town/DePaul area.

So far, it looks like there are just over a dozen people interested in a city supper club. We may still be able to squeeze into one club (assuming not everyone will make it to each supper).

I am willing to take a turn as host. Can seat about six comfortably; probably about a dozen for a buffet or cocktail party.

Love ethnic cooking!

Looks like my timing is just right. I would love to join you for the Chicago supper club. I live in Ravenswood but anywhere in the city is fine for me. I will try to make it on the 11th! :)

I am definitely interested in joining the Chicago Supper Club - I have one minor space limitation.. I live in a studio the size of a shoebox! I may not be able to make the Sept 11th meeting, but can someone keep me informed about the details. This is going to be so much fun!

I too would love to join a Chicago supper club and will try to make it to the meeting next week. I live in Lincoln Park and also have a small apartment, can seat about 6-8. Maybe if there are a lot of us there we could form a Lincoln Park/Lakeview group?

I would love to join a Chicago supper club, as would my friend agilmore53 above, but neither of us can make the meeting on the 11th. We are very interested, though, and anxiously await news of the meeting! I live in the Lincoln Park/DePaul neighborhood.

Did anyone meet at Cafe De Luca last night or were the day's events too much? If you did meet, can you fill me in what happened/next steps? If you didn't, when would be a good time to reschedule?

"Zeebs" and I showed up, but only stayed about 15 minutes. No one else apparently showed up due to yesterday's (Tuesday's) tragedy. "Zeebs" was going to try to reshedule for next week. I think she was looking at Thursday. I won't be able to make Tuesday or Thursday, so keep me informed.

I mistakenly posted this on the general Midwest post.

I would like to join the Chicago supper club group and understand that the meeting last week didn't happen.

I live in Lakeview and would like to join you all this week (the 18th or the 20th - whatever you decide is fine) to assemble the entire group, decide logistics and how the groups will be set up.

Thanks!

Thanks.

A group of us met on Thursday evening and agreed to form a supper club that will meet once a month on a Saturday night. We'll rotate homes,
with the chef selecting the menu/theme and other members signing up for the additional dishes, wine, etc. Our first meeting is on October 20.

Let me know if you're interested....depending on how many are, it might make sense to establish additional groups, since none of us have enough
space to accommodate lots of people.

Robink
09-22-2001, 08:54 PM
Was the first location chosen? Was a theme chosen? I am very interested, but agree that I personally can't hold over 10 (and that could be tight).

Let me know. I am available that night.

I would still like to do the supper club; I missed the meeting on Thurs due to not knowing there was a second page. I cannot do it on Oct. 20 and also can only hold 6-8 people in my apartment. Did the people who met on Thurs divide up into groups? There seemed to be more than 10 people interested. Does anyone know details? Other dates people are thinking of?

I am still interested in the Chicago Club and I am assuming due to the terrible tragedy on the 11th, no one met that day. If anyone knows what is going on with the Chicago club, please let me know. I am going to plant a new post as well.

Sorry, I did not see the second page of posts! I am still interested, however, and was wondering if the group did divide as my mom and I have been trying to get into the Chicago club for some time now. Is there any more room for the group on the 20th, or does another have to be formed?

amhagerty
09-24-2001, 08:25 AM
yes! i'm interested! i have a similar apt. space challenge, but i'll make it work.

Cayay
09-24-2001, 01:59 PM
I hate to sound exclusionary, but the group of us that convened last week pretty much bring it up to the space limitation of 6 - 8 people. So I'd suggest that those of you who are still interested arrange a meeting time that works and get together. I'm happy to provide any ideas/suggestions that I can. Good luck, and I hope you'll share your good ideas with the rest of us!

Hello!

I am sorry that the orginal time and place to meet didn't work out--it looks like another meeting took place last week and they have enough people...however, all of us who are still interested and could not attend the last meeting, why don't we all meet at Cafe DeLuca (On Damen Ave.) next wed. at 7:30--hopefully that works for all of you. Once again, we will try to keep it small-- 6-8 people in a group. If we have more than that show up, we can just split into two groups.

Hopefully I'll see everyone there next week. If you cannot make it, please let me know and we can try and get you up to speed.

Thanks, Zeebs

It sounds like we have more than enough people for several clubs. Is there any interest in a Lincoln Park/ DePaul club?

I live at Barry and Broadway in Chicago (Lakeview) and am interested in a supper club. My apartment is a spacious one bedroom with separate living and dining areas. I have a table that will seat eight comfortably.

Is it correct that there is a meeting Wednesday, October 3 at Cafe DeLuca? I think I can make that time if so.

Look forward to meeting everybody!

Maybe we can try this again:

Is anyone interested in starting a LakeView area supper club?

If there are replies, I will follow up with a date / location of where we might meet, perhaps next week to plan it.

I'm a latecomer to this bulletin board - but would love to start/join a group in the lakeview or north neighborhood. I live in Sheridan Park (4600N). Today is October 3, so if there is a meeting tonight - I'm obviously missing it. Let me know if anything's been planned going forward.

I live in Lakeview and am interested in starting a group with people who live in Lakeview/Lincoln Park area. I hope to have a group that will want to meet during the week once a month. I was part of another cooking light club, but had a hard time making it to the Sunday meetings! If interested, send me an email and I can organize a meeting time and place!

Hi,

I sorry to be getting such a late start in joining a supper club. I don't know if there are others who are just getting the ball rolling, but I'm interested in joining an existing group (better late than never) or would be happy to coordinate with anyone else to start a new group. I'm at Superior & Dearborn, but can be pretty flexible on city location, especially if the CTA is an viable option.

Hope there is room for one more somewhere or there are a few other people who are game to start a new group! Thanks!

Hello! I live in Ravenswood and am also interested in joining a monthly cooking group. I work in the food/nutrition industry and would love to find a group interested in trying interesting new recipes. Please respond with any details of groups that already exist or if you would like to start a new group.
