Hello ladies. Not much new is going on here. We had our u/s last Wednesday and baby would not cooperate at. all. We got one, nano-second glimpse of a crotch shot and the tech stated, "If I had to guess, I'd guess girl." So, I guess girl it is!!! Two princesses 17 months apart. Love it!! ;)
OTher than that I'm just feeling really ran down these days. Working toO much and not sleeping well at all. Since this is supposed to be the honeymoon trimester, I hope things start working out quickly.
How is everyone else??

all is well here at 23 weeks. no complaints -- feeling great. big belly, but nothing I can't handle. I am trying to exercise daily to keep feeling well right up to the end. gaining a little more weight than I had hoped but nothing too bad... and I am sure it will slow down soon as my stomach starts getting squeezed. I recall not feeling very hungry in the 3rd tri in previous pregnancies, so the weight gain slowed.
passed the 1st glucose tolerance test with no problems. next one coming up at 28 weeks.
nancy, that is pretty much what my ultrasound person said... legs were closed, but if they had to guess it is a girl since she didn't see anything (well, of course you didn't, the legs were closed). but if you have time to edit, put me down as a surprise. she didn't sound sure and therefore neither am I.

Yay!! Val, it let me edit it! So I guess we're in a similar predicament - I think we will get one more scan. DH wants to be sure we're not bringing home a boy home to a pink room. I'm thrilled either way. But names are really throwing us for a loop - we're trying to stick with "N" names. Nathaniel was going to be our boy's but we just can't agree on a girl's! :p:o

how about nicole or nadine for a girl? those two are on my list... unfortunately DH isn't ever in the mood to seriously discuss names til after the baby comes. he has rejected nadine in the past, though.

Nancy, my DD (Natalie ;) ) has a girl in her class named Nylah (not sure on the spelling) but I liked that name.

Nancy, delurking with another "N" girl name. I really like Nora, although I had a wonderful great-aunt with that name so it has extra special meaning in my family. Hope you find something that you love!

Happy Easter all!
Just checking in. All is well here at 21 weeks. I have no real complaints. Well, only minor ones like being itchy all over even though I am using a lot of lotion.
You girls are very good with the delayed gratification. If my baby's legs were closed during the u/s, I think I would have insisted on getting off the table and jumping around and make them check again!:D

I don't belong on this thread....but I saw TLee's name and had to check in. Congratulations!! Wow -- isn't this #3 for you? It seems like just a few years ago you were training for the Chicago Marathon. Congrats again! This is wonderful news about your growing family. I hope everything is going smoothly for you

Thanks Susan! Yes, 3 in 4 years and we are done. :D My marathon days are behind me (I always knew I would only do one) but I'm still spinning and walking in the losing weight gain battle.

Howdy all. 13 weeks today and finally starting to feel better.
Had my "early risk assessment" yesterday. Apparently I won't hear anything until at least the end of this week, but I'm told that if they had seen anything really alarming in the ultrasound they would have said so promptly. Little critter was bouncing all over the place throughout.
Next appointment will be in 5 weeks. I'm 36. Do I want to do an amnio? I have always been pretty freaked out by the idea.
I think I've already gained about five pounds. *sigh* My pants still fit, though -- thank goodness for the "below the waist" fitting trend.
Hope everyone is feeling good!

Terri - Aveeno soothing care lotion works really well for me with the b**b itching. It's the only thing that seems to help longer than a couple of hours. This time around, I haven't been itching anywhere else (knock on wood). Last time, I had inexplicable torso itching from about 10-16 weeks.
veschke - from someone who fell on the wrong side of the statistics from invasive procedures/tests, I would vote for no amnio unless it's warranted. If there's something concerning on your NT results, then maybe - otherwise let it be. 36 isn't that old! (from someone who will be 36 in a week...) At 42 I'd be more likely to think that an amnio is worth considering. The high risk OBs were in complete agreement with my decision on this one - once the NT results came back OK, no reason for amnio.

delurking ...
I had my kids at 36 and 39 and didn't have an amnio either time - idea of a needle in my belly freaked me out a bit. We decided to wait for the results of the initial screenings and if anything was found, then I'd agree to an amnio. I told my OB she could do whatever non-evasive testing she thought was necessary but that I'd like to stay away from the amnio unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks for the Aveeno rec. I have all-over itch, but lotion does seem to help some.
Veschke, I agree with the others. I had my kids at 34, 35 and this one at 38. I would never even consider an amnio unless there was some huge reason to do so.

typing one handed, so bear with me...
Max is here! Born April 2 at 6:36 p.m., weighing 6 lbs 4 oz. I was induced that day when my bp shot way up, but easy delivery, no complications. He's currently got jaundice and I've got a nasty case of post partum insomnia but thank goodness for ambien. I've never heard of this pp insomnia thing but it's pretty cruddy. :(

aww.... he is so cute. congratulations! how is the big brother enjoying him?
I never heard of pp insomnia either. I can never sleep in the hospital right after delivering, so I am always anxious to scurry out of there quick. once it was during a snowstorm about 20 hours after I delivered.

Congrats Leah! Max is adorable. Hope you're feeling well, and the insomnia clears up quickly!
Well, all my efforts to get the NT scan were for naught. I was too far along. The whole thing just makes me mad - had my original appointment not been scheduled on the earlier side (ie in the 11th or 12th week), there would have been more wiggle room and it would have worked out. But the tech did an ultrasound, and sized the baby at 14 weeks 4 days which was definitely too far along. Chances are everything's fine, and it is technically an optional test in this state, but still... I would have liked to have it.
Otherwise, things are moving along. I'm feeling okay (beyond the fatigue, but I probably would be fatigued anyways with a 16 month old) and just watching the weeks start to roll by.
I hope everyone else is feeling similarly well!

sorry you weren't able to get that scan, Heather, since it sounds like you wanted it.... I have heard (maybe I am wrong?) that it does have false negatives that tend to freak people out unnecessarily.
I have never had one (partly because I would have to pay) so they are definitely not a mandatory thing around here (I am pretty sure it is optional anywhere).
Delurking :) to say congratulations to Leah!!! Enjoy every second with your beautiful little boy(s)!

Congratulations Leah and welcome Max! I hope that pp insomnia resolves itself soon and that you're all well.
I guess I'm next -- due to deliver via planned c-section on Monday if DS #2 doesn't decide to appear on the scene early. My parents arrive tomorrow to take care of DS #1 while we're in the hospital and I'm working through Friday.
Hope everyone is feeling well and that test results come back negative for those who are waiting for them.

Hi, I've been lurking for a little bit, may I join in? I'll be 12 weeks on Monday and just had my NT today...all looked good....waiting on the bloodwork. My DR said that between the NT and 1st trimester bloodtest, coupled with a 2nd trimester 16 week blood test we can get to within 95% confidence on Downs. I am 35 and I can live with that.
I've got a 23 month old daughter, Maddie. And, I've had a miserable time of it since week 7....lost 10 lbs and been really sick. But, I expected it....lost 20 lbs in my first trimester with my daughter. At least I am near the end of it, I hope.
Anyway, enough about me.....
Leah--Congrats on your beautiful baby Max!
Cannot wait to follow along with everyone.

Hey Val! Remember me?! Just threadjacking to say HI! I've been MIA for awhile, real life and all that. You know how it goes! So you're expecting again??!! How exciting?! And according to your tagline... this is #4????! ;) :D I only remember ONE!!! ;) Egads, girlfriend, you've been BUSY!!! :p Sounds like all is well with you. We're good here, too. WOW, there are SO many user names here now that I don't even recognize anymore!

But it was SO nice to hear from ya', Val, and get an update on your family. :) These are sweet and wonderful years for you, for sure. ENJOY!
And hopefully I'll be seein' ya' around the boards. SO MUCH INTERNET, SO LITTLE TIME!!! haha! ;)

This has been a most amazing week. I finally heard from the hospital yesterday about the early risk assessment -- 1 in 10,000 odds, I can live with :) so I think we'll skip the amnio, which is a major load off my mind. We are finally spreading the word among friends and family.
Also, I got a raise. I'm reeling from all of this good fortune! The meeting with my boss and the call from the hospital were within ten minutes of each other, too. Good timing, since I'm going to need to go shopping soon -- my shirts are looking a little funny. All of the weight I've put on so far is in my upper belly for some reason; I blame the fact that I'm short....
Hope everyone is doing well!

I think I am caught up.
Congrats Leah, Max is so cute!
Susan, Nice to see you hear again!!
28 weeks and mostly feeling good. The last couple of weeks I have been having what I thought were braxton hicks but they were associated with a cramping like feeling. Today I couldn't take it anymore and decided I needed to go to the doctor. I tried calling and was on hold for 20 minutes. Decided to go to L/D. Turns out they think the problem is muscular and asked me to go on modified bed rest for 2 days to relax the muscles. I had no contractions at the hospital and the crevix is closed.
I need to be more careful lifting. Especially lifting the dd. She only weighs 23 pounds but I need to be better about bending the legs.
Anyone with other children have any special techniques.?
veshke, 1-10000 are amazing odds. I had 1-39 and had the amnio.
Helios7, sorry you weren't able to get the NT
Sorry if I missed anyone

Hi all -
Not much new to report here. I think I'm finally starting to show, although my "smaller" maternity jeans (ie the ones that didn't fit at the end last time) always feel like they're falling down still. It's kind of annoying. I'm feeling much wider in the hips/rear area which I'm not loving. I've got a long way to go - it's too soon to be feeling this wide!
I'm definitely feeling the baby off and on. It's exciting, and I find it a nice bonding time. Sometimes I worry that I won't have time to bond with this baby as I'm so busy with DS... :o
veschke - Congrats on your awesome week. Great news on both fronts! Yay!
bbpizzapro- I'm not at all careful lifting DS who's 24 lbs. I'm hoping that the fact I've done it all along will make things easier, but practicing good form is probably a good idea too.
Welcome Susan - Sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly but here's hoping you've turned the corner and will be feeling better soon.
Terri - bummer about the pg insomnia! Hope it clears up soon!
Melisd- Hope things went well. If you did have the baby on Monday, he/she will share my DH's bday! :) And Candace's as well.
Hope everyone's well!

Sorry for the delayed post...we've been a little busy around here. Joshua Seth was born on 4/12 at 10:25 a.m. He was 8 lbs, 8 oz and 20.5 inches. We stayed in the hospital only 30 hours post c-section and then went home when I got a roommate. There was a crazy baby boom here last week. Sharing a room with another family and a bathroom among four post-partum women was really uncomfortable, so we checked out with the doctors' okay. My parents were here helping and so despite missing the comfort of the hospital bed (auto up and down was helpful post surgery), it was good to be home.
We're going through the typical lack of sleep, but everyone is healthy. Josh is an expert nurser and is back up to his birth weight as of today. My older son is enjoying being a big brother and the bris is over. DH is off for the rest of the week, so we're enjoying some down time.
I hope everyone is well.

Wow it’s been a while. Congrats Leah and welcome baby Max!! That PP insomnia sounds awful. I hope it’s resolved by now and you’re getting into a routine. He is precious!!
Welcome Melissa and Joshua! I think sharing a room post C-section sounds miserable and I would have gone home too. I hope everyone is settled in nicely.
Welcome SusanMac!! Sounds like your first trimester has been miserable. :( How are things these days? You lost 20 pounds with your first?! WOW!
Veschke – those odds sound awesome and I wouldn’t do the amnio either. And a raise?! Can I have some of your luck? ;)
Bbpizzapro – those BH sound scary – I’m glad everything turned out ok. I know it’s hard with another little one but try and take it easy. :)
Heather – Love feeling the baby! Don’t worry about the bonding – it’ll come naturally just like it did for Quinn. My favorite time is in evening after the other kids go to bed, I’ll just relax on the couch and watch my tummy go to town.
Val – how are you these days?? I owe you a reply, I’ve just been busy.
Teri – 11lbs?! That is scary! I just had a sorority friend have a 10#8oz baby naturally and that made me cringe. I feel huge these days but I’m measuring normal. Maybe I’m just all stretched out? ;)
As for me, nothing eventful is going on. I’m 24.5 weeks and doing fine. My weight gain has already tapered and I’m hoping it was just a fluke – my midwife didn’t see it as a concern but it’s starting to freak me out. NJ was small for her gestational age and I’m afraid the same thing will happen again. I have my glucose test at my next appt and we also scheduled a 3/4D scan. I didn’t have one with the other 2 and thought since this will probably be my last, why not!
How’s everyone else?

Congrats, MelisD!
16 weeks, and I swear I already felt a flutter or two; seems awfully early, even though I've had previous practice. Two weeks to the big ultrasound. Morning sickness is *finally* abating; just have to remember not to push myself too hard at the gym or I feel absolutely horrible afterward. We're starting the hunt for a new apartment. Going to be a busy, busy, busy summer.
Good luck with the glucose, those are always such a joy....

I lost track of this thread at some point and just saw that SusanPC joined us - YAY! I'm so glad to see you here. Congratulations!
And congratulations Melissa on the arrival of your little guy!
veschke - I started feeling movement right about at the 16 week mark. It was just like little bubbles and if I hadn't been pregnant before I never would have known that's what it was.
Good luck to those of you doing the GTT - I had an early one at about 16 weeks and I was absolutely sure I was going to fail it but it was fine. I have to do it again at about 26 weeks.
for my update - nothing exciting here, but boring is good. I have finally started to look pregnant rather than just really fat. There is drama at home (in MI) with my dad's health and my big fancy shower got canceled, but I'm going home to see my dad next week and my SIL and MIL are throwing together a little shower so I've been working on registries. I have the fetal echo on Wednesday and I feel like that's the last big hurdle, because that's when they told us to terminate the pregnancy last time. I'll be really glad when it's over and I can breathe a little easier, though there's absolutely no reason for concern.

Ladies, thanks for the warm welcome. I am sorry I have been MIA since I posted. I have just been so sick I try to nap when my daughter naps and at night I am wiped out. The lack of eating is causing migraines...and I am just ready for this phase to be behind me. All for a good cause, though. So, I shouldn't complain.
I promise to do a proper post with personals soon. It is great to see familiar faces from the TTC and pregnancy threads from my last time around. Wishing all a great week.

I am feeling well but huge. 30 weeks now.
Hoping the last 10 weeks go smoothly. I think the baby will come a little early this time. (last time I was a couple days late) If he shows up at the end of June that would be just fine by me.
