I'm looking at real estate information about Rochester New York and I've noticed on real estate web pages they show different sectors of the city. Which are the "good" areas? By good, I mean middle class - not slummy and not ultra rich.

Thanks

Are you interested in the city itself, or in its suburbs? I've found that you can get downtown in under 20 minutes from just about anywhere in the suburbs around Rochester. I don't know a lot about city living, except to say that the Park Ave area and Corn Hill are very nice little city communities...well kept and all.

As for the suburbs.....Middle class...hmmm...well, some folks are east side die-hards: Pittsford, Penfield, Brighton, etc. We chose to avoid the higher taxes of the east side and get more for our money in the country south of Spencerport (Ogden). We live in farm country, but we're very close to the rest of the world as well. It's a very pretty area, not yet overdeveloped.

If you tell me more of what you're looking for, I might have more to share!

I'm not sure, suburbs may not be bad, as long it is walking distance to shopping. Not being from the area, it's hard to tell.

It's not even certain that we'll be moving there, but there is a slim chance so I'm sort of doing some advance research.

Thanks for your reply!

We live in Fairport, a village on the East side. We love the charm and atmosphere and the fact that we can walk to library, canal path, parks, etc. This is our second village home because we didn't want to give up the village life! anyway, if you would like more information please feel free to email me. I can direct you to some web pages, etc. or answer some specific questions. Do you have children? There are great activities for kids here too ... something to consider.
