I love Pad Thai and would like to try the recipe that appeared in the May issue. My husband is allergic to fish, though. If there anything I can substitute for the Thai fish sauce in the recipe? How about the shrimp?

Marlene, Sorry that there is not some great substitution that we at CL can supply for you. We usually suggest Worcestershire sauce as a substitution, but it also has anchovies in the mix. Possibly increase water and soy sauce, but the flavor from fish sauce is very distinct and water/soy sauce just won't compare.
The Fried Rice and the Tofu recipes from this story were very good.
