I was looking at the gelato recipes from July and thinking I might substitute chai tea bags for the earl grey tea bags in the earl grey gelato. Should I add anything additional if I do this, extra sugar or spices? Does anyone think this wouldn't work for some reason??? TIA

Can't imagine the need to add anything to the original recipe if you are just substituting another tea....OK then maybe I should not take my own advice and add some sweetner though not much but then again I would just stick with the Earl Grey...my hands down favorite of all teas!!!

Ooh, I think that sounds really yummy. Chai tea has so many flavor nuances of its own that I don't think you'd need to add any extra, and certainly no extra sweeteners. If you try it this way, let us know how it turns out! I'd love to do it, but alas, I have no ice cream maker.... :(

What are chai tea bags?
I thought Chai was just tea made with milk and spices instead of water. Do the tea bags have powdered milk in them?

halo 23---Chai tea is a black tea with other spices (such as cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg). The traditional way to serve it is with milk and a touch of honey. I have found it in both tea bags and as loose tea leaves.
Well, I made this ice cream last night. It turned out really well. It is very sweet (I didn't add any extra sweetener than what the recipe called for). Thanks for the comments/suggestions!
