Any Other Empty Nesters With Time to Cook in Plano, Texas?

I just moved to Plano, Texas, and my nest just emptied with my son off to college. I want to improve my cooking skills and make some new friends who share my interests. My husband's not a cook, but he's good company.

I've just got back from a week of helping my 26 year old daughter, her new husband and baby into their new digs in Minnesnowta, and picked up a copy of the magazine in the airport. I realized I need to start developing more of a life outside work....and here was your posting!!!

I'm mad about french, chinese, greek, spanish, brit, and regional american food...but am an omnivore...love to cook, some training....my idea of heaven is a dinner with friends discussing current events, culture, sex, politics, books, (anything other than taxes or sports, really)....my husband is an extreme introvert who may not be available to join in as he is studying for the war college, but I can find another person to participate if that's required...

I have enough space and place settings for 12 to sit at table...my home is plain and practical rather than elegant, but my kitchen is set up for multiple person preparation..

For health reasons I'm not much of a drinker (and an adamant non-smoker), but I am familiar with wine and beer and have made both (as well as root beers, aperitifs, and coolers and juices of all kinds)

(my e-mail name refers to my habit of making things from plants....like medications, perfumes, and flavourings... not to a religious preference ;)

I am interested in joining a supper club. I live on the border of Plano and Richardson. My daughter is a member of one and they are having so much fun. I noticed your message was in August but sometimes it is hard to get the group filled. My children are all adults. I have always enjoyed cooking. Let me know if you need someone. Thanks
